Not my idea, but I find it useful. This is a widely used practice in Australia.

You need to condence hives, remove 2nd supers, put frames in freezer, 2 days, killls beetle & wax moth eggs, store in polystyrene broccoli boxes, will be completely sealed, stack , at home, hives will be easier, for bees to keep much warmer, replace when required, in late August, as required. Hope you don't mind my comment, Glen, where all beekeepers together, cheers Keith.

Thanks, Keith. How would you suggest I do that for 100 x 9-frame triples? 🙂

Great video thanks Glen. Have you ever had moisture issues with the black plastic.

Hi, Firstly really enjoying the videos. I am looking for the first time putting some of my hives onto friend property where they have cattle. Never thought of a electric fence to stop interested cattle from playing with the hives. Is that just a kit you get somewhere ?

Hello Chris, not sure where you are in the world. The unit I used here is a Gallagher B10 made in NZ. It takes 4 x D-sized batteries & is commonly used by people fencing off small horse paddocks. Once the cattle get hit a few times, they learn to stay away. I wouldn't normally worry about it if I checked the hives every day however I will visit them weekly so its a long time for a hive to be tipped over. If you are in OZ any farm/rural supplies store can help you every country town has one or two.
