- We begin the first in our series on planting small ornamental trees in a new part of our garden. In this video I cover everything you need to know on the requirements, considerations, planting and care of a Cornus Kousa var. chinensis.
Very exciting! Looking forward to seeing all the trees go into the ground and learning more about them!
I was so happy to see you planting & working in your garden in the winter time. I love your garden. Can’t wait to see the further progress of your gardens as you continue to plant. Thanks for the info on this particular tree & thanks for sharing the visual of your hubby & you getting it planted!
Thank you, lovely to have you join us!
Love this channel!! Excited for 2024 in your garden! Thanks for taking us along!

You have become my favourite channnel, watching your past videos has given me motivation for the year ahead!
Thank you, so lovely to hear, it’s all about just having a go!
That’s going to be beautiful! I have a Kousa and it’s lovely! The bracts on mine are pink. The Autumn color of the Kousa is fantastic! I love the water tubing in the planting hole, such a great idea! Thanks for a great, instructional video!
Encouraging to hear you love yours, thanks for watching

Im planning to add some flowering dogwoods this spring, the varieties native to North America. Good luck getting all yours in the ground. Your gardens are beautiful.
Thank you
I think a Magnolia Sieboldii would be fabulous in your new area -Its got the most stunning flowers in summer which are followed by the most unusal and sculptural seed heads in the autumn. It grows at Coton Manor Garden which is near me, and looks stunning throughout the year. I know you've already decided the tree varieties, but might be worth squeezing another one!
I’ve never heard of that, just looked it up and it looks beautiful. Sadly, it says it gets quite big so I don’t think there is room but thank you for telling me about it - I learn something new every day!
Jenny
@@MurphysGarden you’re welcome!
I’m found your channel recently in connection with Flower Hill Farm. I really enjoy watching you and hearing so much great information.
I know you’ve said this before so sorry for a repeat question . What plant is used for the hedge behind the dogwood? Thank you so much
Great to have you join us! It’s a beech hedge / Fagus sylvatica. Thank you for watching
Jenny
I have a query .Are cornus kousa edible? Probably you will write it depends .But my next question is ... I have heard that some are not edible but if they are not edible are they toxic or only not edible?
I honestly don’t know and would only be googling it the same as you! Best not to if there’s any ambiguity on what you’ve found out, have an apple instead 🤣 it’s not worth the risk ! Perhaps other people may be able to share anything they know about this subject.
Our Cornus Kausa Milky Way still has no leaves begin april, is that normal?
My first year with my cornus kousa but mine has no leaves yet but it has leaf buds.
Update?
