    You have a captivating smile! I only wish that you showed a little more of the country and some exchanges in Italian so we can get an authentic feel for the place. I can't imagine you walk around Italy all day with your camera and have zero interactions with locals.

    • @emily_meadows
      @emily_meadows  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your feedback. It can be uncomfortable to bring out the camera when you’re interacting with strangers and people you’ve only know for a short time. I might have been more comfortable doing that if I’d had more time to build those relationships. Unfortunately, I was only there for a few months. I did my best to document my experiences though.

    This vlog was so entertaining thank you for uploading! I have a question- I am planning on studying abroad in Florence either Summer of 2019 or Fall of 2019 and I have a concern. I tend to get homesick easily and I was originally going to go for an entire semester but now I am second guessing myself. Any advice/thoughts?:)

    • @emily_meadows
      @emily_meadows  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rylee, I think it is normal to be homesick during the beginning. I've gone away from home for 5 summers, and I still have times during the first couple weeks every time that are difficult. However, for me at least, the longer I stay in a place the more it becomes to feel like home. So I think you should stay long enough to get through the initial adjustment period and give Florence a chance. On the other hand, if you get homesick easily, I don't know if a full semester would be the best option. I might suggest doing a 6 week term instead if you can because it would get you out of your comfort zone, but not push you too far. I think it really just depends on how much you want to push yourself.
      I think the best advice I have for combating homesickness is to get out of your room, try and make friends to do stuff with, realize it's only temporary, and push through the tough times because it gets easier. I think you'll love it and I'm uploading a little travel guide to Florence soon so you can check that out to see what to do there. Hope that helps, good luck!

      Honestly, I don’t think it would be very easy. From what I know about Florence, jobs are in very high demand and there aren’t a lot of opportunities for outsiders to get jobs. Also, in order to work in another country you have to have a certain type of visa. If you are going to Florence with a program, you may be able to ask them what opportunities they have.
