PSA: A’s an African, Black Panther had a VARIETY of African accents and not just the stereotypical Nigerian accent most westerners associate with an African accents, and the accents 👏🏽 were 👏🏽 accurate 👏🏽
If a black character having a father from the most advance civilization in the world that happens to be in Africa then he is killed. Leaving you to grow up in a world of racism where you don't feel you belong and then you find out not only that this city exist but they killed your father and left you there creating this anger. Leading you to work for the country you hate to one day return to the country that you with every reason possible hate but only to get there and want to make it better for yourself and save all other black people who suffered. If this isn't a complex character flawed by his anger that is justified in his feelings of abandonment then I don't know what complexity is in film. And let us not forget at the end of the movie his dream is achieved and the boarders are opened and there is plans to help others around the world. His belief was there, his execution is what killed him.
I dont even think it was his execution honestly i just think it was how passive aggressive and forgiving we are as a people. Instead of taking whats rightfully ours we settle for the scraps and make lemonade out of the few lemons we are given instead of taking the seeds and planting our own tree. He wanted to take what was ours and help our people specifically the way "they" have done since the beginning of time while T'Challa wanted to still live beneath "them" and continue to live in fear.
DO BOY!!! I totally agree. I’ve watched it like 5 times. Even bought it. Watched it again a few weeks ago and was like “OK, girl. You don’t like this movie like that. Give it up.” 😂

Doboy also think Olive Garden was real, quality italian, that Moonlight was meh and that Tyler Perry makes good movies, so we can’t really trust his opinions cus they never built up they’re just made, to contradict the majority blindly, mcu movies aren’t great they’re good, never revolutionary cus they’re formulaic even with new things added, stand alones are harder to make cus you’re coming for one and not a plethora of characters. It was good for what it was but people wanted to give it more meaning, weight and importance cus he was the first black superhero in the mcu but the scenario is bound to be similar to other superhero movies thou they made a conscious effort to be as authentic as a marvel movie set in Africa can be. I like that he might question popular things but think before speaking thinking it’ll make you right. Had to let it out cus I’ve been binge watching their content and it’s a constant with him and Kevin doesn’t challenge his views enough for me. keep up the good work tho 👍🏽
Killmonger was the worst? Whaaat?! He was a villain that made everyone stop and think, "is he REALLY the bad guy, here?" Letting Killmonger die was such a waste. I think the most telling thing about Black Panther though is watching honest opinions of Black Americans in America (whom appreciated what we think it did for the culture) and Africans living in Africa (whose culture it supposedly represented) because the views aren't really the same. We claim that it did so much for the culture but so many Africans are like...."what culture? It didn't make any tangible difference for us, whatsoever."

I been saying this shit since the movie came out. They shoved so much shit into one movie probably thinking it wouldn't do well. 3 villains, changed most of their stories. Movie was barely about Ta'challa, he essentially took a back seat in his own movie. Ta'challa loses, cheats, and everyone cheers for him as a hero simply because hes suppose to be the hero. They spent barely anytime on Wakanda and its culture or gods. First movie should have been a legit origin story about ta'challa and how he decides to come into king and black panther, Klaw should have been the villain all the way through (my man is a main villain for black panther and they kill him off the fuck) HELL they could have had White Wolf be the main villain since killing him off would do nothing to the MCU, spent at least 30 minutes on Wakanda weaving that into Ta'Challa coming into his own, they could have kept M'baku as the anti-hero he STARTED off as letting them later turn him into man-ape, they can't do that anymore it makes no sense. But no, they kill off 2/3 of his main enemies, make one into his friend, have him lose a 1on 1 sacred battle that nobody is allowed to interfere in, have his family steal a sacred herb they shouldn't be allowed to touch EVER, have him be rescued by multiple people, give him the herb he is stripped of before the sacred battle - the same herb NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE, have ta'challa get better because his family has STOLEN from their NEW KING who won it FAIRLY, have ta'challa comeback and say "the fights not over" when clearly it was - he would have died without everyones help and that is a strict disregard of the rules meaning he'd be disqualified and lost either way, have the people who would rather have him as a king betray Killmonger THEIR RIGHTFUL KING, then kill Killmonger and think its fine because he's going to help the poor oakland kids. If you switch Killmonger and T'challa from the 2nd challange you'd say Killmonger was easily the villain but becuase it's ta'challa you all want to pretend its okay. It's not. Nigga cheated.
SORRY FOR THE LONG ASS ESSAY, YOU DONT HAVE TO READ IF YOU DONT WANT TOO. I JUST FEEL VERY STRONGLY OF ONE OF MY FAV MCU FILMS. LOL i think its the fact tht us black ppl have such a dynamic culture. most superheroes are white and American white has no kind of culture. so they can start the movie on one topic and that be it. plus this is the first black superhero and to do it justice I think the historic culture being explained was very much needed. also was the reason of why killmonger was... killmonger. he didn't get the chance to live his true self bc they turned their back on him. the reason why wakanda flourished and was never been colonized was bc they HAD to keep it a secret. history has shown time and time again, as soon as the whites see something as the best value on this planet, they will kill to have it in their hands. so take tht into acc and what killmonger was fighting against.. i get it his reasonings but what makes a villain a villain is how they go about things. he came to wakanda, which yes he won it fairly. tht doesn't mean the ppl have to now root for him as king. he came nd changed everything tht everyone was in contempt with. not everyone agreed with opening up wakanda to the world. they saw what they did to the other black ppl of Africa. used them as slaves and such. they didn't want the same problem. never gone to war bc no one knew what their true world is. i also think the film was much deeper than what it was trying to convey. i think it was a big symbol of us black ppl have to be unapologetically ourselves at whatever cost. nd notice at the end they did help the black ppl in America. if you have tht kind of privilege, help ur fellow brothers and sisters. nothing good comes out of you succeeding but other ppl just like you not having tht same opportunity. say the same thing bout trump. he won presidency fairly. so does tht mean us the ppl have to sit here and like him now bc he is our president? making ppl not be able to come into the country, even tho America is based on immigration. does tht make his ideas the best? hell no bc the way he is going bout it. also yes we wanted to root for tchalla and the way he had others helped him just made the audience be able to connect more with him. tht gives depth, when its not just a superhero with special powers and can do anything. the mcu does great at creating an in depth story for the characters to be able to grow later on. also one last thing to close it out. since when did mcu films only give a superhero just one movie and called it a day? give it time, plus we all knew we were going to see more of tchalla in infinity war. plus they are going to come out with black panther two, PLUS he is a big character for phase two of the mcu. soo take this essay as you will. .. lol
Fam 😂 swear evertime I getta wakanda forever I be like 🤷♂️ but I'm American and the president trippin right now like it don't seem like a good time to f@#k around with symbols 😂 he 💣in 💩 right now and theres a wall n them wakanda sheilds n barriers ain't real 👀
Yes I agree the movie overall was not really that great. I love the cast, they nailed that. But the rest..was weak. All the action scenes, the cgi, the ending of the film....it was ehhh
I'm also of the opinion that Michael B. Jordan's character didn't fit smoothly with the whole movie. And I also watched it again recently, but the dialogue was great to me.
yeah he didnt seem to fit at first...but once u see..tchalla and chaka..were selfish to the black race in general...n sadiddy....n had a god complex like the world needed them..n only helped when it benefitted them.. n to come home after killin ya own blood...knowin he had a seed...n literally died with the secret... nobody would have knew until...killmonger did what tchalla couldnt do..n brought the peckerwood head to wakanda.. killmonger premise was needed...he humbled challa...challa comin to the hood in the end was equivalent to the rich coming back n passin turkeys around
That's one of the issues I had with the film. They created a divide between the African person and the Black American, which is pretty harmful, particularly for a 'pro-Black' film. Killmonger not seeming like he fit in was deliberate and by deisgn- they present the Black American as toxic and villainous, authoritarian and disrespectful of African culture and ignorant towards it. There were many issues I had with the film.
Yawdan that divide is real we fake it like we support one another 100%. I know for a fake black families treat the woke family member like they crazy lol
Omg finallyyyy someone said it! The concept was so great... and when I saw it i was so disappointed. It was long and dragged out, too many unnecessary fight scene which took away from the main fight scene, and on top of that CORNY ASFFFF like “what are thoseeee” like I get they were trying to incorporate trendy memes but it just came off a childish. And there were many other flaws like cgi, character dynamic, etc..
Exactly making killmonger tje cousin which justified his anger so is he still the villain no best anti hero and has reason to feel that way. Then he was cheated. They made too many unnexxessary changes trying to be deep to speak to the black audience. Marvel should have just took it over like they did all their other films. This was too much.
I totally agree. This movie was ok at best. I think we were just so excited because there was finally a big budgeted black movie, directed by a black man, with an all black cast. Sometimes we view things as the *best* because it's the *only* 🙄🙄🙄
I've said this since the movie came out! It's not a bad movie at all... but it's not great either. People were trying to hype it like it was the greatest movie ever made when it clearly was not. The CGI action was really bad and the dialogue was stupid at points. Again, not a bad movie but nothing special either.
Exactly! I thought MBJ was just ok. Lol His character was great tho AND clearly the look/ fit he rocked was everything. 😁 But he stay looking like he wanna cry. Like lowkey he was kinda typecast. But the movie was cool to say the least. The style, the hype, the color was great! I'm not really a superhero movie fan so those things made me wanna watch.
Killmonger made a perfect villain for T'challa. His whole thing was fearing he would make bad decisions as king. Then to find out his role model, who he based his idea of what a king should be off of, messed up. Killmonger was the first decision T'challa had to make and Killmonger knew he would win without black panther powers in play. He also thwarted BPs attempt to earn respect by rescuing Klaue and delivering him when their king couldn't.
What Kev is most likely referencing is that Chadwick Boseman (T'Chala) made up the accent he was using in the movie based on different african accents. It is greatly based on Xhosa but he worked with a dialect couch to make use of different african influences. The language spoken in Wakanda is in fact Xhosa. Kev (just like me) mixed up those statements.
Do Boy has ridiculous takes in everything and always comes off as uneducated. Also people need to chill with the MLK and Malcolm X comparisons with T’Challa and Killmonger.
I was about to ask why would people need to chill with it when the actors themselves compared their characters to Malcom and Martin, but that was actually Magneto and Professor X. I'm thinking about the wrong universe, lol.
I'm not sure I can see any comparison in T'Challa and MLK but I can definitely see Malcolm's influence on Killmonger it the context of being a revolutionary
Malcolm X didn't advocate preemptive violence like Killmonger did. He condoned it in self defense. It's really sad people look over this fact. His legacy shouldn't be labeled as a violence-seeking one. He obviously didn't want uncontrolled violence against the oppressors.
Tomie Ito omg thank you. Killmonger was my favorite character in the movie but when people compare him to Malcolm they just come off really uneducated on who he was.
Killmonger was the villain where you're like damn was he really wrong though? And they actually spoke an African language: Xhosa. Ask Trevor Lawrence, he watches it without the subtitles.
Doboy u r wrong for That!!! I have watched black panther like 5 times. Black Panther was amazing!!!! There was so many amazing layers to that movie. Especially Killmonger because his background was so complex he was a villain that u didn't completely hate but understood and even felt bad for him.
I actually agree with DoBoy. I watched it twice and wasn't crazy about it either time. Michael B Jordan didn't have the greatest performance, I thought the accents were horrible, CGI was okay, and they didn't shoot a single scene in Africa. I appreciate the cultural significance of it tremendously but it's not even a top 10 Marvel movie imo.
You cannot compare the joker to killmonger. The joker had yearss and years to become pure evil, collaborated with many other villains over time, plus his origin is that he comes from an abusive home. Killmonger LOVED his fam and that was the main driving force of his actions; homeboy died on his first excursion However, if u compare first excursion joker to first excursion killmonger... Idk killmonger might win... then again joker always finds a way to survive
Deborah Oduwegwu they not comparing them to each other, they comparing them to how they stand up to their counterparts and what makes them a good villain within their own world.
@@dylanmijer2890 ohh I didn't catch that That brings up a whole other point then which is that killmonger isn't a villain at all😂 but an anti-hero. Bottom line is that was a poor eg for them to bring up. It would be more accurate to compare the Punisher and his adversaries to that of Killmonger.
1. The CG looked cheap, especially compared to other Marvel Movies. 2.They did not explore even 1% of BP's powers and combat tech. 3. And the action was Subpar(except for the club fight/chase) The Cast was great from Stars to Background Characters. The Plot was great.
Anyone who complains about the accents but has no point of reference except "African friends" can click off this video. Y'all wildn. Like bro, if we're talking South African accents, they sounded decent to good. Get the hell out of here. Also, the different tribes had different accents. For example, the Jabari tribe's M'baku had more of a West African (more specifically, Nigerian) accent. Movie was dope, haters can catch this fade Edit: Wrote East African instead of west..
Absolutely agree with you. I will never understand the accent criticism since Wakanda was a fictional place. Accents are different within countries let alone an entire continent. Some one from Chicago has a completely different accent than someone from Texas or someone from the Boston...and that’s within the country, if we push that out to the continent of North America no one would ever confuse a person from Montreal accent with a person from Guadalajara.

Black panther wasn't supposed to be an action movie, it was a symbolic movie about Africans vs African Americans, Chad was representing africa, while michael was the "angry black man" so he did play his character right. He felt like he was abandoned by his people like most african Americans feel. And wakanda represented all the riches in Africa and what would happen if we all stayed together. 1) Doboy, you buggin!
2) I LOVE this cast! Please do more with this crew
LOL
i think its the fact tht us black ppl have such a dynamic culture. most superheroes are white and American white has no kind of culture. so they can start the movie on one topic and that be it. plus this is the first black superhero and to do it justice I think the historic culture being explained was very much needed. also was the reason of why killmonger was... killmonger. he didn't get the chance to live his true self bc they turned their back on him. the reason why wakanda flourished and was never been colonized was bc they HAD to keep it a secret. history has shown time and time again, as soon as the whites see something as the best value on this planet, they will kill to have it in their hands. so take tht into acc and what killmonger was fighting against..
i get it his reasonings but what makes a villain a villain is how they go about things. he came to wakanda, which yes he won it fairly. tht doesn't mean the ppl have to now root for him as king. he came nd changed everything tht everyone was in contempt with. not everyone agreed with opening up wakanda to the world. they saw what they did to the other black ppl of Africa. used them as slaves and such. they didn't want the same problem. never gone to war bc no one knew what their true world is.
i also think the film was much deeper than what it was trying to convey. i think it was a big symbol of us black ppl have to be unapologetically ourselves at whatever cost. nd notice at the end they did help the black ppl in America. if you have tht kind of privilege, help ur fellow brothers and sisters. nothing good comes out of you succeeding but other ppl just like you not having tht same opportunity.
say the same thing bout trump. he won presidency fairly. so does tht mean us the ppl have to sit here and like him now bc he is our president? making ppl not be able to come into the country, even tho America is based on immigration. does tht make his ideas the best? hell no bc the way he is going bout it.
also yes we wanted to root for tchalla and the way he had others helped him just made the audience be able to connect more with him. tht gives depth, when its not just a superhero with special powers and can do anything. the mcu does great at creating an in depth story for the characters to be able to grow later on.
also one last thing to close it out. since when did mcu films only give a superhero just one movie and called it a day? give it time, plus we all knew we were going to see more of tchalla in infinity war. plus they are going to come out with black panther two, PLUS he is a big character for phase two of the mcu. soo take this essay as you will. .. lol
I agree with you

I AGREE!! Now everyone in these comments need to stop coming for Do.
I'm also of the opinion that Michael B. Jordan's character didn't fit smoothly with the whole movie.
And I also watched it again recently, but the dialogue was great to me.
Vando F. It’s like us going back to Africa we wouldn’t “fit” either. It’s believable to think how he thought
yeah he didnt seem to fit at first...but once u see..tchalla and chaka..were selfish to the black race in general...n sadiddy....n had a god complex like the world needed them..n only helped when it benefitted them..
n to come home after killin ya own blood...knowin he had a seed...n literally died with the secret...
nobody would have knew until...killmonger did what tchalla couldnt do..n brought the peckerwood head to wakanda..
killmonger premise was needed...he humbled challa...challa comin to the hood in the end was equivalent to the rich coming back n passin turkeys around

Now that Chadwick is gone do sounds even crazier #LLChadwickBoseman 🙌🏼🙅🏽♂️

Wow just wow
What Kev is most likely referencing is that Chadwick Boseman (T'Chala) made up the accent he was using in the movie based on different african accents. It is greatly based on Xhosa but he worked with a dialect couch to make use of different african influences.
The language spoken in Wakanda is in fact Xhosa. Kev (just like me) mixed up those statements.

Do Boy has ridiculous takes in everything and always comes off as uneducated. Also people need to chill with the MLK and Malcolm X comparisons with T’Challa and Killmonger.
That's the reason I don't mess with him pretty much. He just comes out of nowhere with his takes & more than half the time he's wrong.

You cannot compare the joker to killmonger.
The joker had yearss and years to become pure evil, collaborated with many other villains over time, plus his origin is that he comes from an abusive home.
Killmonger LOVED his fam and that was the main driving force of his actions; homeboy died on his first excursion
However, if u compare first excursion joker to first excursion killmonger... Idk killmonger might win... then again joker always finds a way to survive

Absolutely agree with you. I will never understand the accent criticism since Wakanda was a fictional place. Accents are different within countries let alone an entire continent.
