Of the two knives, the EFD is my preference for EDC! Thank YOU Liong for making budget friendly options for your fans! Thank YOU LTK for bringing our attention to these bad boys!
That's a pretty cool knife, but nowadays $85 can get you a lot more knife for the money. 14c28n is hard to mess up on a large batch inhouse heat treatment, so that blade steel in particular I'm comfortable with from most brands. It's definitely a sweet knife but in my opinion at least $30 overpriced 🤷. I would probably buy two 14c28n knives plus two slices of fresh baked pizza for $85 over buying that one knife. 🔪+🔪+🍕+🍕 > 🔪 😉🤷.
Lots of knives in the marketplace that have G10 and user steel blades that are even over $100. So it’s just a matter of whether you like the design etc.
@@LuvThemKnives That's true, and it is a really cool design 👍. I'll take one in Python Micarta and 154cm @ 62 hrc for $85.00 😉😁, that's not asking too much 🤷. I've seen CPM s30v and Micarta for $80🤷.
factor in reate quality and it more than makes up for that $30 imo. the action on mine is insane and blows anything i have at a comparable price out of the water. youre also not factoring in nested liners which usually are the culprit behind more expensive g10 slab knives vs stacking them on top and calling it a day. . and yes i know cheap knives with nested liners exist
I’m sorry… 85 dollars for a simple g10 liner lock? What’s the steel, is it s35vn, is it magnacut? Oh, it’s sandvik steel… This knife looks like a 30 - 40 dollar budget model… design is nice in shape and very functional, but it’s a 40 dollar knife, at most!
Go on bladehq and type in G10 scales and check it out. Lots of knives including Civivi in the $75+ range. Eikonic knives are $75-$100 and they’ve got the same materials. If you’re not a fan of Liong Mah designs then you’re right….those materials can be had for less money. Begg knives Bodega is G10 & D2. Sells for $120. So….
There's nothing wrong with 14c28n or most so called basic steels that knowing how to sharpen won't cure. Once you factor in how long it takes to get a good edge on a "super steel" you realize it's basically a wash and you can focus on things like ergonomics, geometry, asthetics, and ease of carry and start using your knives as knives rather than being afraid of damaging an edge you can't fix or loosing resale value because you sharpened the damn thing.
@@herbertgearing1702 yes of course, I do enjoy using and sharpening mid range, as well as premium steels... My point was the fact I find it surprising, that a knife that looks like a ganzo costs 85 dollars and it is still considered "budget"...
The ‘budget’ designation is always per individual perspective. There are people for whom the budget ceiling is $10, others will say $20-30, others will say $100 or $120. If a knife is outstanding in function and is more mass-production than collector, $85 is a decent position in the market. I agree that losing $20-30 seems to make sense, but I’ve never handled one. From what I can tell, it might really be worthy of $85, whether that’s ’budget’ to you or not.

Just got the same one at knife center. Thanks for the video

I just checked out his website I like the Binary waiting to see the arrival date. He should make a small fixed blade also.
For that price I'd want it M390 steel with a titanium clip.
Wish it had contoured scales. Any material.
Looking forward to picking this up as well as the Kuf!
As Arte Johnson used to say on Laugh In, "Verrry Interesting"
Every time I see a blade like that I think of the Civivi Odium.

I agree with you here. Lots of other knives (Miguron) cost less for more. But I am interested in this Eutecnik line

perhaps the production quantity dictates the sliding scale price

This is budget collab with Reate?
Liong/Eutektik is Liong’s brand but it’s subcontracted through Reate
A bit overpriced for materials being used
freewheel pivot? No Mah mes
