I owned a OG Sony Blu-Ray Google TV back in the day. Pissed me off, no support on that thing for like 3 years. They finally updated it to Android Honeycomb, and a year later, they discontinued the platform for Android TV. I kept on waiting for them to release a Nexus Google TV, to breathe some life into the platform at the time.

Any idea where the music is from? It sounds like such an epic theme I expect a Sci-Fi/Hero/Fantasy saga to be tied to it.

I learned about this 15 years ago from infinite solutions, it’s finally out of beta!
It's nice that they were creative and made a very distinct icon for Google TV which can't be confused with Google Calendar, meet or drive icon
FYI: Chromecast is a device. Google tv is a UI/software/app.

@@ashketchum4263 nope, it's a new OS based on Android TV. You can get the Google TV launcher but you don't get the full functionality if you don't actually have the Google TV OS, you'll only get the skin of Google OS but Google TV is far more than just a launcher and there's apps for it that isn't available on Nvidia Shield etc. For example, if you try to sideload the BBC iPlayer for Google TV onto an Android TV box like the Nvidia Shield it won't work as it'll recognise that you don't have Google TV even if you're using the launcher. The OS is even called Google TV in the system. Google TV is to eventually replace Android tv but is a different OS

What generation Chromeast do you have? Is it plugged into your TV's USB port or into an outlet?
@@cammy85 original generation, using a dedicated power supply (3rd party). Original power adapter was also unstable. It's not a power issue.

Ok but why get rid of Google Play: Movies and TV I really fell in love with that UI, Colors, Design etc. It was its own thing and was easy. This seems like it would make things more complicated.

Funny how the same people who bashed the revamped, 2015 Apple TV device are now praising Google TV.
I am actually one of those very few who have used Google TV many many years ago. This was the era when Logitech Revue was a hot cake at every Best Buy store in the States. $199 something, and I brought it home in Canada. It worked great, even had Chrome browser, but alas, Google decided to kill it--and that's how my Logitech Revue died. LAN + Wi-Fi + Logitech Webcam integration + DVR box + Media sharing hub + Cute keyboard. 😪

I see that the Chromecast with Google TV is about $50.00 in the states. It is almost $83.00 in Europe. That's one hell of a markup to pay in Europe. I guess it must be because of tariffs!

Muy lindo y todo peroooo, yo compre uno basado en lo anteriormente presentado, pero para latinoamerica no hay dolby atmos ni dolby visión en disney+, apple+ y la interfaz es la misma que los demás setup box del mercado, fire tv stick 4k, se lo lleva de lejos, para cuando planea google respetar al mercado latinoamericano dando el mismo soporte e interfaz que le da norteamerica y Europa o los dólares con los que se compra el producto valen menos?

No one's talking about how this is replacing Google Play Movies and TV? It's still a great app, nothing has been made worse by the redesign, but it's Play Movies and TV in a new shell.

..the excitement I had with my Logitech Revue that came with Google TV. The keyboard that sat on your lap and you could control everything from it except my fridge bringing food to me. The TH-cam app was great, Google Chrome was great, Local DLNA service was great.... it was all great until Google decided to drop the support. 😭
So, um, how will this work with Chromecast Ultra? I literally just bought the Ultra and then this comes out. Really would love to have this.

Google currently owns TH-cam, TH-cam TV, TH-cam Music, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies & TV, and Google Podcasts. Google Play Music is transitioning to TH-cam Music, and Google Play Movies & TV is switching to the Google TV service. It’s confusing with the names, but that’s what their plan is.
It comes 10 years late, and it will take long time to be useful in my country for sure, unfortunately

This is great and exciting. However, its a bit late to the game really. Most who stream have already moved to either Roku or Apple TV/ATV4K. I am guessing the lower price will help sales but TV for android/Chromecast/androidTV/Cast etc. is something that should be reserved as built in software in the smart tv (many already have this) or stick to just chromecast style streaming. I do like the idea that they are going to stir the market a bit by adding themselves to the TV hardware war. But its already been done and i think it may be a bit too late for this to have the mass adoption that is hoped. Again, other than the pricing which may prove me wrong.
