Been running a mrx510 with ARC for years. ARC works great. Highly recommend Anthem and ARC. Phase control would be nice addition though. Maybe I’ll pick up a new receiver or AVR when they add those features.
Thanks! I did have my mic positions slightly off. I will publish a corrected video for microphone use with ARC, and more detailed technical detail on ARC to come as well.
Great video with great pointers. I definitely will be using your video as a reference. I like how you positioned the microphone around your main seating position to get a broader coverage. I think it's ridiculous that you have to recommend everyone to turn off then back on the AVM70 to get the kinks out before calibration! A $4,000 unit shouldn't need a soft reset,Period! I'm from the calibration period of Tone,Volume & Balance control knobs....Calibration Done!!🤣 The Old Man!👨🏾🦲
There is a very specific bug with Anthem ARC that I learned a definite workaround for after this video. It results on not getting test tones generated for the measurement, but it's easy to address. Anthem knows and a fix should come.
I'm still learning, but I think I prefer adjusting the target curve to add a bigger deep boost and add some high frequency tilt down along with EQ'ing farther than 5 kHz. I find harsh high frequencies difficult, I think, and that Anthem's default curve leaves bass a bit underdeveloped. But, and a big but, I'm still feeling things out and working on EQ'ing two different brands/models of subs as well.
Measurements are not corresponding to profiles. You can make one set of measurement but set 4 profiles with different speakers selected. If there is excessive noise Arc will tell you and then retake the measurement. You should alter the height of the mic, position 2+5 should be lower than position 1 and position 3+4 should be higher than position 1
YES! I figured this out. It's awesome to be able to make one complete measurement and then tweak it via profiles. Incredibly cool. I'll cover that in figure ARC content. Thanks for the height tip as well for lowering the sides.
Hola. Gracias por el video. Como puedo conectar un MRX 520 a internet, por cable ethernet no puedo ya que esta en otra habitacion el modem y éste av no tiene wifi creo.
@Techthusiam .. Hello I have similar setup ... ANTHEM AVM 70 & Focal 1000 IW6LCR's ... one issue that I am facing while calibrating.. noticed there is zero bass coming from my LCR's ... have you seen anything like this ? is this an Anthem issue / Focal issue ... any thing that you would suggesting trying ..? thanks
Hello, I have a brand new MRX540 but when starting the ARC Genesis, it can't find Device??? MRX is connected LAN and I can use the web interface...what do I wrong?
Might be something with your network or control setup. I had to unplug my Control4 controller in order for ARC Genesis to see my Anthem STR. Unfortunately, networking is one of the weaker parts of the Anthem platform.
@@Techthusiasm it would also be great to see the the results of arc after calibration. Speaker levels and all because a lot of people say that arc runs channel levels high. I ordered the AVM90, so I want to be prepared for what I got myself into.
Hi Wonderful video, thanks. Quick question, At what level do you keep your AVM 70 master volume ? do you adjust speaker trim level to 75 db while you run calibration ?
I am finding I want more bass in my listening than the stock ARC curve delivers. I'm still trying to find the best way to bring more bass back. I don't need a monster amount though. I'm also finding it's easy to overwhelm my room.
Hi Jaremy. I noticed the distance between some of your measurements exceeds 2ft which I know that audessey firmly states. Or does that rule not apply with Anthem arc. Just curious.
It's right around there, actually. I ended up tweaking how I move the mic around since this video, keeping all the measurement in a bubble around the mic stand at the couch center. I'll talk about that more in follow-up videos.
Could I just ask, if I want to use as just pure stereo for music how would you setup? Would you let arc eq the fronts speakers and then set fronts to flat and switch on super bass?
If you have just 2 full range speakers and no subs, then yeah, it would just EQ your mains and they would get the bass anyway. If you have 2 channel speakers and subs, then let ARC EQ it all, set crossovers, and do phase. I wouldn’t use super bass unless you have some very specific reasons to do so. I’ll talk about this coming up as I just did ARC on my living room 2.2 system with the STR.
You have lots to learn wrong mic positions. Position 2 should be forward of mic 1 and 3 should be forward of mic 1 and higher and lower . And you only have to make one arc and then create profile for different profiles ect stero
Thanks! Yes, I'm realizing my 2nd and 3rd positions should be ahead of 1 and lower. 4 and 5 I did higher and behind. But I had a better structure for positioning I have been using since this video. I will be making more ARC videos to come and will clarify these points. From the manual: WHENEVER POSSIBLE, place the 2nd through 5th positions two feet (60cm) from the 1st position. Up to three feet (90cm) is acceptable, but not usually necessary. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, place the 2nd through 5th positions symmetrically around the 1st position. Use an X pattern, with the 1st position in the center of the X, and each corner two feet (60cm) from the center. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, vary the mic height for the 2nd through 5th positions, with two measurements being 6 to 12-inches below the 1st position and the other two measurements 6 to 12-inches above the height of the 1st position. This method provides ARC with a more three-dimensional view of the room and its acoustic signature.

@@Techthusiasm I do the UK dealer training for Anthem and have been installing and setting up since 2008 so if you need any help let me know.
Sweet, thanks! Would love to get someone official on the channel for a best practices video... :)
@Corey could you do a video on the proper "how-to" of measurements and adjusting of the curves?
Yes, I will do a lot more Anthem and ARC videos coming up.

I'm not sure on the 20-series, sorry. The 40-series models have Wi-Fi.

I find I'm watching movies in the -20 dB range usually. Quieter than my former Marantz.
@@Techthusiasm Thanks, mine is on its way.. Cant wait to get hands on it. going to pair it up with one JC5, and two A51
Great combo!
did u enter the speaker distances and manually level match the subs to 75db before ARC?
Yes, used a laser measure for distances.
I found Dirac to thin on the bass, does ARC do this too?
