    I got a white/green one that has Tamagotchi written in Japanese. I think it’s great they re-released them because I have my old ones but I lost all the screws.

    I just got the Gen 2 and I’m so incredibly dissapointed because I can hardly use the screen. I literally have to use it under a lamp which is not practical. Do you have any hacks or ideas to fix that?

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There's a few things that could be actually. Clearly always check the batteries when an LCD screen is being weird, as well as, if you're feeling risky, you might take the Tama entirely apart and use a dab of rubbing alcohol on the contact the screen uses to connect to the main board. (There's no wires or anything, it literally just sits against a long contact point on the front of the board) A thin piece of foam rubber might also be good to put against the screen to help keep it pressed against the board. I'm sure there are far more tech savy people than I who could give better advice, but those are some simple, relatively safe things to try. Hope it helps!

    When gen 1 tamagotchi dies and you restart, could you somehow see the dead tamagotchi?

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't believe so, though I remember there being a lot of little tricks to these guys. I'd check on the Tamagotchi Wiki for something more definitive, as they're REALLY in depth on the workings of these guys.
      And to answer your other comment here, at least from what I remember, they were meant to be aliens who needed us to help raise them, and the degree of love they were given directly effected how they changed as they grew, or something like that... They somehow relied on others to help them grow, sort of like non-evil Xenomorphs, and with 100% less exploding chests, lol. I do remember the aliens part for sure, as it's part of the reason that 1 Earth day ages them an entire year.

    How do I know if I'm buying a gen 1 or gen 2? Is there a list of designs somewhere? ☺

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a TON of designs of them you can find listed out in a few places, but the fastest way is to check the box, as the Gen 1 reissues have purple all over them, and the Gen 2's have blue. I also believe the background of the device itself is a giveaway if you're buying loose online, as well as stock images will use one of two pets shown on the screen to differentiate. Sadly there's no real fast answer I can give you, cause it's a lot of "If this, then this", and I'm sure a more hardcore collector could give you full details. The fastest way though is to look in item descriptions, cause most people selling them will at least try to let you know.

    As in I can send one tamagotchi to another to create the next generation

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, these are too old for that function, but there are a number of later models that too that. The easiest to find are the Tamagotchi Connection series, but Im also preparing a video on an old Japan only release that also connects together.

  • @gavinistheawesomest

    It’s really odd that the sound is different between the original and the remakes. The sound for the game is even off, including the timing of it. I still play with the one my mom got me back in 1997, and they are definitely not the same.

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean, it kinda makes sense they'd be different. It's been 20 years, tech has changed a lot in that time, even down to the way they'd go about making the board for these to run on, so even if you made an exact copy of every component, there's gonna be variance. Heck, I have old Tama's that sound different from each other and new ones that also sound different. These aren't exactly "high grade" items either, so there's always some variance. And especially for the old ones, age is going to effect things as well, so there's a good chance that if you time traveled back to 97, the original Tamas we still have working now sounded different back then. Honestly, the small random variances are what keep me collecting like I do, cause while it's hard to really "raise" Tamagotchis like I used to even when I filmed this video now that I work full time, there's always something fun about finding out the little random differences.

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which version is it? Some Tamas have a certain age where they either grow into a bonus form or die, kinda drastic imo. Lol So it could be you either A, have a version that does that, B, keep growing the specific pet on a standard tama that does that (each version that I know of has 1), or C, it could be a weird glitch and you should give it a full reset.

    Not identical..gen 1 has 2 screws on the back gen 2 has 1 screw 🎉

    • @ArcNeoMasato
      @ArcNeoMasato  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually have an original gen 2 that has 2 screws on the back just like a gen 1. I think it might be just a running inconsistency though. The Gen 2 I show here is a re-issue, but the Gen 2 I have with screws is actually an old one from Japan. (I acquired it only recently in a "lot" of Japanese Tamagotchi things I'm working on videos for) The only consistent change I've found is that the Gen 1's have hearts behind the icons, while the Gen 2's have stars, with both have slightly different background patterns too, but even that might not be 100% consistent. With anything in the 90's, you very quickly find how many random variants there are, making hard to ever say for sure how to 100% differentiate generations or true variants vs random one offs cause a factory worker decided to clock out early that day. lol
