That's Great that his Frontosa Cichlids are not Shy and afraid of him. I imagine it took him awhile before his fish got used to him with his hand in their Aquarium.
It's usually food related, almost like giving a dog a treat after it has done a trick, but you're right, this would have took a lot of time and effort to get these fish that comfortable with the owner
