Mull that over and ask yourself how the name of the USS Balao is pronounced. If not how it's pronounced in the US, then how? Would it be the way they pronounce it in Norway? Sri Lanka, perhaps? Clearly, the US boat is appropriate with the US pronunciation. 🤣

I wish the 'Cutie' wasn't so overpowered in this game. Its warhead was only 95 lbs. of TPX explosive; which is 1/4th the of what the Mk-14 had. And since it homes in on ship propellers, a Cutie would rarely sink a ship, but rather cripple or outright immobilize it.
They seem to do almost much damage as a Mark 14. Taff could run a full load of Cuties if he wanted...
19:56 they better erect a shrine for that brave sailor that kept at their post, giving the submarines position via direct eyesight as they sink past!
Fantastic episode taff, best seen in ages.. wiping out those destroyers not only makes the sea safer for friendly submariners but the satisfaction when you kill the hunter.. no better feeling. Those cruisers sunk, truly amazing job done and there was no better in regards of a wonderful sight, sending two of the enemy's proudest cruisers to the seabed with those destroyers.. truly a jewel in the crown moment. The imperials will make sure to cover this one up, and will no doubt be fast to spin a false story, either way the enemy got a well deserved broken nose and black eye in this one, fantastic work. Awesome episode, that was hitting the enemy right where it hurts, true warrior skill.. you really let the enemy have it. The top Navy brass should be proud of you in this one, that shows how the US navy is coming back with a vengeance, keep it up and well done mate. Love this series.. one of the best ever seen 👏👍

And, that's "USS Bah-Lay-Oh" The Balao is a somewhat famous boat in the US Navy!

@@TonySpike Always pronounced it that way. Got confused when documentaries said buh-lay-oh. I went and looked it up, Merriam Webster says it is, in fact, ba-lao. Vindication.

It’s a Mark 27 “Cutie” homing torpedo.
Its an Air dropped ASW homing torp(Mk.24) modified to fire out of a submarine! (as the mk27)

Cuties were designed to take out smaller patrol vessels like kaibokan and torpedo boats... actually its overkilll on torp boats.

@@EggnogTheNog Thank you... i will research... I think similar technology was used to sink an I class sub in the Atlantic late in the war...it was carrying goods from Nazis to Japan . There is recording of it here on TH-cam . Eerie as the rush of air and then motors go silent. A bunch of gold went down with it . The Japs thought they were out of reach.....they weren't .

Nope, it definitely was a Jap. Also, Taff didn't sink it, it just ran aground and exploded (AI ships do that sometimes in confined waters).
Hurgro is Myoko class Cruiser
Was looking for someone to mention this, IJN never had a Haguro class, their Heavy Cruiser classes were Furutaka (Furutaka, Kako, Aoba and Kinugasa), Myoko (Myoko, Ashigara, Nachi and Haguro), Takao (Takao, Maya, Chokai and Atago), Mogami (Mogami, Mikuma, Suzuya and Kumano) and Tone (Tone and Chikuma)

Miss this game, wish they'd re-launch it for windows 10, i bought an old XP machine, but the graphics card wasn't up to it, bought a new graphics card, to find it was only supported by windows 10.
Steam version runs just fine on Windows 11 and Linux.
So are blown off props and broken rudders not modelled in this game? i swer that is a thing in SH3 but not here is kinda sad.
