I wasn't familiar with Togame's game. This backstory moved me. He just wants to see Choji shine bright like the sun again. Even if it means he has to do all the dirty work. After this episode he flew way up my list in terms of characters I like.

Great backstory
Interesting thing I noticed when Choji calls Togame with the nickname “Kame-chan” which means “turtle” because his name means To = “ten” & Game = “tortoise / turtle”, & even more interesting Choji’s surname Tomiyama can mean “rabbit / hare” thus they have a Asopp’s Fable “Tortoise & the Hare” theme which in fact the named members of Shishitoren (Shishi means lion) have animals associated with them like Sako = Fox, Arima = Horse, & Kanuma = Deer
Also, all of the Bofurin kids have plant names

The next one after shishitoren arc and the current arc are my favourites in the WBK storyline.
What bothers me is that it's so easy to see, but it seems a bunch of stupid-ass kids just want another Dragon Ball.
Too many people want all the details feed to them, and aren't thinking deep enough, and think that the characters need to act rationally, when humans aren't rational.

You need to put into your mind that togame was extreme introvert that's very bad at socializing,he didn't have any friends,he was depressed,choji didn't attack him unlike the rest that's why he didn't try to fight him and went with him,bro's just bored and lonely so he decided to go with him,he also kept comparing him to the sun,perhaps he was actually fascinated by him,choji did look very friendly and pure before he went crazy
Togame is one of my favorite characters from the first arc, and if you go back and watch the last few episodes you can see just how much he hates doing this. He didn't know why Furin was there on their turf, he only saw one of his guys on the ground so he thought they attacked first, he told Choji which is why Choji went to challenge Umemiya in the first place. Then throughout these fights, Togame had a look one his face that without context looks likes he's pissed they keep losing but in reality was stressed that he had to keep playing the bad guy and "skin" his own friends because that's what Choji wanted. He's not a bad guy, he just made a bad decision by letting Choji have his way. He just wants to see his friend smile genuinely again. He's a really great character.
I do wonder now if the comment that Togame is 'especially territorial' may have meant he always fought off rival teams himself so no one on his side would risk taking a loss and getting 'skinned'

Just now realizing this is animated by CloverWorks. No wonder it's amazing. Ever since they were forced to wrap up Promised Neverland in a short second season when they outspokenly wanted to do multiple more seasons for it, everything they've put out since has felt like a love letter to the source material and the fans as well as an apology for something that was out of their hands. My Dress-Up Darling, Bocchi the Rock, Horimiya, this and several others with some collaborative works like Spy x Family. They're killing it and I'm completely here for it!

I LOVE Togame, he became one of my favourite characters in no time as we got to learn more about him
Knew from the first moment we saw Jo he’d be my favorite. I think the flashback adds a layer of depth to him that really makes him amazing. I really hope he ends up joining Furin or something cool like that!
Cool detail about Choji’s and Togame’s backstory is that when they first met, Choji’s eyes were full of life, but as soon as his morals shifted. All the life in his eyes were gone

Togame Jo's fighting style is very realistic.. like a football player, he uses his size and goes straight to tackling his opponent to drop him to the ground.. no wonder he is very powerful, not to mention he is decent in hand to hand combat.

I like how this episode already implied Togame being stronger than Sakura without outright stating he was stronger. He would’ve won right then and there if Sakura didn’t tell him about the ‘’middle school bully’’ incident being instigated by the two other former members of Shishatoren.
I kind of would’ve been disappointed if Sakura was outright way stronger than Togame since he’s their second in command. A lot of people were hoping that would be the case for this episode.

I'll preface this by saying I have not read the manga, and know absolutely nothing, so this is just a random shot in the dark. BUT I was thinking Sakura may actually pull the W here. Then, somehow, one way or another Umemiya ends up losing. I think Choji said if he won he wanted Umemiya to come to their side or something like that? I could see him losing and having to leave everyone, then the next big focus of the show is trying to get him back maybe.
Or, alternatively, maybe we just no diff the entire lineup and they end up joining us against some bigger threat at a later point in the series.
No spoilers, these are some great theories but you gotta think a little bigger than that
