For anyone thinking about getting a GSX-R750, don’t leave it too long, as those with low mileage/ standard spec’, etc, at a decent price are becoming rarer. I picked up my first ever ( after following neevsey’s videos) 2 weeks ago, 2017, 9k on clock, immaculate condition. Does what it says on tag: all round balance at both low / high speeds, great “ feedback”, sounds great, looks great and tried/ tested bike with bomb proof engine.
couldn't agree more, I went and got myself a K8 with only 3k on the clock, completely standard and like wise I've been enjoying riding it too. They are also really easy to work on, I''ve serviced the suspension linkages, installed new plugs and gave it a good clean in all the hard to reach areas, now to add some new tyres in readiness for a few track days next year ;-)
I 100% agree, I just picked up a 2014 Anniversary edition in mint condition with about $2000 worth of nice mods w/10,000 miles for $7,500, these bikes are spectacular as this is my 3rd one, had an 05 & 07 too, both awesome bikes too. BTW I’m 62 & still love riding supersports
I'm really interested in the 1000 hornet, especially the SP. Not only do I expect it to be an absolute peach of a bike, especially for that money. Hopefully it will "calm down" the whole pricing madness of other manufacturers which have gone mad and to top it all off, we need a super naked with a proper inline 4. I prefer triples but we need that classic inline 4 scream in this world.
GSXR750 every time for me. For the love of god Suzuki, update it & bring it back to Europe! As for KTM, I definitely don't trust them riight now or any time soon. In my opinon they firstly need to put a press release out on their website & as many other impartial industry websites etc as possible like MCN etc, formerly apologising. They then need to explain exactly what went wrong, why & what measures they've taken to ensure it never happens again. Finally, they need to increase the length of their factory warranty on all their models to 3 years. Then & only then would I even remotely think about buying a KTM.
KTM has done all this in the USA and are still having to discount the 790/890 heavily. I think they even double the length of the factory warranty if you do all servicing at the dealer.
@jondiaz3475 Interesting. They haven't made much of a show of it in Europe. If you go looking, you can find bits & pieces but they haven't gone out of their way with the PR as far as I can tell. It'll take years to repair this damage because they were way too slow to acknowledge the issue & resolve it.
@@ragerider6283 I didn’t know things were that bad. I spent some time riding in the Alps this past September, and KTM V-twins were everywhere when the roads got twisty.
@jondiaz3475 It wasn't all KTM's that were effected by any means, quite the opposite ironically, but unfortunately because of how poorly they handled it, it's badly damaged the whole brand.
I think the main problem with KTM is that they’ve not only screwed over their fairly passionate fans and consumers (aka the people who pay the bills), they’ve also vindicated those of us who’ve been teasing our KTM-mates over dodgy reliability. And I don’t really know what they can do about it at this point, they’re really managed to betray the trust of their customers in such a central piece of their product.
💯 we've heard about it for five years at least, they redid the design with no publicity or remedy for the older bikes, and only now they're doing non-recall fixes at the dealer's discretion. no surprise they have excess inventory.
Absolutely mate , spot on comment & the good mail about Kato’s cam failings is that it could be ‘suss’ low pressure oil pump problems , KTM workshop manuals state the parallel twins to have 26lbs at idle & 50psi at 7000 rpm and it’s turning out that these figures are hard to get , as a lot are reading 6-7 Lbs low.
What a pleasure this channel is. As an ex-KTM employee I think they should just take the hit and recall all the bikes affected by the chocolate but I guess it's too late now for that.
Hey Michael. Thanks for the great videos. Suspension - I’m outside that weight range. So I got nitron shock on my old sv650s and a Wilber’s on my brand new GSX8S. Difference is amazing. Wouldn’t own a bike without the correct spring again. Transform the bike. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Mr Neeves thanks for your thoughts on the Tiger 800 - I'm really looking forward to your road test 👍. I genuinely didn't think Triumph would build a 765(800) tiger but, I'm so glad they have - you just know its going to be good ! ! Improved suspension, more clout (115bhp ISH ?), radial brakes etc where all on my wishlist after testing the 660 which, as you say, is a brilliant bike in standard trim. Keep the good work up. I may ask you another question next year concerning the tiger 800 .....🤔
For me personally, I find the GSXR 750 to be the best and perfect blend of power, handling, and lightweight best all-around sportbike ever produced! I'm 61 years old and love my 2022 GSXR750Z. It is heavily modified with upgrades to all components. Just three more mods to make. 1. K-Tech front fork spring kit, 2. GPR V5S steering stabilizer. 3. A Translogic Quick Shifter. The bike will be completed. I'm still debating about porting and polished heads and some cams from EDR in Portland, Oregon. After that, if I decide, it will be completed and about a $35,000. US dollar GSXR750Z
Suspension - I live in Norway and sent the forks for my ER6n, or rather what is mainly my wifes bike, over to Maxton in the UK. They fitted catrigdes with springs adapted to her weight and I also bought a rear shock from them. Transformed the bike on road and track. First trip out and she came home with a big smile on her face. It cost a bit, but we've had the bike since new (2007) and rather than buyin a new bike we spent money on suspension and a custom lower seat from Bagster. The guys who race them also swap out the front end (sometimes with a ZX10 fork) and fit a Versys swing arm which fits right in.
Great as always. You again talk about "outriding a bike". How and when do you know when you have become so skilled that your bike, and not you, is the limitation? Thanks.
Amazing Content , as always I look forward to these q&a sessions , the intro was so relevant , me and my biker mate were talking about all of this too, keep them coming - For 2025 my dream bike is the R9 , can't wait to take a test ride
I decided to ride my 2003 TDM with upgraded suspension rather then getting something newish with standard suspension. So i think, if someone has a bike that suits as platform, its worth investing in suspension regardless market value.
If you must get 1 bike only, the V Twin SV 650 is a gem! Just bought a new one, 2 wheel dynoworks flash and full M4 exhaust, Corbin saddle. An exhaust note to make Paralell twins eat their hearts out, tons of grunt and personality, fantastic handling, a pure joy. Its a Japanese Ducati Monster, the perfect road bike.
Yes, I totally agree with your comments about bike engine sizes. I have a Street Triple 765 for fun and a GS for travel. Each is fantastic at its own thing. I can no longer see the need for a litre bike as I really don’t have a track nearby.
Loving these Vids, it’s been a journey following you over the years from page, to screen. I loved reading all the road tests back in the day, but these reviews/opinions, are more like talking to a mate over a beer, obviously an extremely knowledgeable mate lol. Keep them coming. Love them 👍
Thanks for answering my question. Glad to hear 20 stone is svelt these days! 😉 Almost middle weight you might say. 😂The bike is the Ninja 1000sx which I feel is almost a bit too sporty to tour although I can ride it all day without aching wrists and knees. I think of it as an older gentleman's sports bike in that golden zone of 130-140 BHP. I shall certainly follow up on your suggestions. Your comment about no fuel on the overrun explains why it feels like I dropped anchor when I shut off going in to a corner. To use your technique of turn in off throttle I find I modulate it myself a little with it cracked ever so slightly to reduce engine breaking effect. Up in NE Scotland so suspension suppliers are thin on the ground but I will try to find someone I can trust. Keep up the good work.
Ktm should do an advertising campaign saying “We’re sorry” with no excuses and explain how they are going to improve. Their reputation in road bikes is in the gutter.
The r9 will be great on the road and good fun on the track......but it's limited rev range and missing 15 to 20 hp will mean the 750 will have the upper hand on 99 % of tracks. I reckon the new v2 Ducati will be a lot of fun. The 800 Tiger should be many things to many people, so will do very well. Never stop your videos Neevesy 👍🏻😎
Rode the tiger Sport 660 version, loved it, ultimately my takeaway was I’d have one, though I built myself a wish list of mods i felt id need to apply to get the bike to ideal fit to purpose for my use case.. I am gratified to that that series of mods are completely covered by the new 800. Can’t wait for them to arrive.
Hi Neevesy. Love the videos, keep them coming. Might sound like a stupid question but here we go…. I have a KTM RC8R and am thinking about doing some track days with it. The bike has no electronics (Traction, ABS, etc) In road form would it be silly to put a really sticky modern track day tyre on it or should I use something more mixed use and forgiving. I’m not massively experienced on track and just want a good day with a bit of confidence on the bike. Any help appreciated 👍🏻
Thanks for another great episode and answering one of my question for the second time.😄 You're a star. Btw you said l was living the dream with my bike history but these were the bikes everyone had at the time. When i had my TZR250 I knew people my age with RGVs and KR1s as well. Also loved your video riding the Tigersport 660 around the UK over a few days a couple of years back. I rode the 660 Tigersport when it came out but found the power lacking and screen too noisy. l'm hoping the new 800 will sort these issues and could be the one bike to do everything.🤞BTW Everyone must be thinking your going to do the Yamaha Tmax as your next what makes this bike great video😉 Anyway looking forward to it whatever it is 🙂
Great series, great insight. On the Euro thing, would you consider doing a test comparison between a jittery stock Euro5 bike, its remapped self, and a version with all the emissions gubbins removed? Particularly interested to know the mpg implications as this is one of the main objectives of the regulations. Thanks.
Thanks so much for this series, it's so damn cool to have a touchpoint with the community! So here's my question, I have a gen 1 Daytona 675 for track and I'm considering switching to an r6. This is because everyone seems to tell me it's just better and much faster...way more hp and also easier to find parts. This last point I have to agree on but when I look at the old reviews the Daytona always came on top... so why is it that there's only r6 out at the track today...
Thanks for another great video.Must agree that the Euro Litre/Superbikes are now mostly unaffordable.Glad that the Japanese and others still have some that are if you want one.Well,in Australia for now anyway.
Hi Neevsey, I have 2 questions I hope you can answer. What is the smoothest top 3 bikes you have ridden that are still available to purchase, with no vibrations all through the rev range, through the bars, tank or seat? Secondly, what is the best speed you have found to cruise most comfortably when you need to cover big distances? Thank you, and love your channel. Keep up the great work!
Hi Mate, great review as usual and jsut like to say its great you take time to acknowledge each message and make videos when you get lots of simiar ones i think that why your the go to guy. Im going to plan a road trip in 2025 to THE PYRENEES and just wondering whens the best time, route and a few great places to see. Im thinking maybe 7 days ferry there and ride back maybe? Anyway thanks for the great job and i hope santa gets me a gsx750r for xmas 😂
Great clip Neevesy and still loving my 2011 GSXR 750 I got a few months ago. Question, do you know anyone in Suzuki you can talk to because they would own the middle weight market with a New GSXR 750 with an electronics package and a bit of new styling like they did with the Hayabusa just a little update. Even if it was Euro emission 10 or what ever we are up to it would still have about 140hp and beat the rest of the bikes and all for probably $2000 cheaper. Come on Suzuki we are all waiting for a new GSXR750 as it seems to be where the world is heading Atm🙏🙂
Another really interesting discussion. Re the 800 Tiger Sport, is there any truth to the rumours about using the same platform to create a new fully faired sports bike? It’d make sense if the 765 remains exclusive to the Street Triple. Furthermore, in light of the R9 release, it’d be a great competitor, similar to the Tiger Sport/Tracer competition you mentioned.
Brilliant as always Mr Neeves. Quick question, if the the daytona was close to the gsxr 750, how did you rate the duke 848 vs gsxr 750 power wise. Just wondering rough guide line seeing as the new v2 will be circa similar power.😊
Again, the lap times are close between the old 848 and 750, although they excel in different parts of the track. Next year’s new-generation supersports shoot-out will be very interesting!
GSXR750 all day long..my sweet spot.. mechano bikes (Adventure beasts) are not visually pleasing however they may ride.. just my view, 36 mins flew past as I listened to your balanced explanations..👍👍
I think it's economies of scale. It would cost a lot more to develop and manufacture bikes in widely differing specs. It's because of Euro rules that bikes' engine sizes are getting bigger...although it would be nice to have the big engine with no restrictions!
I can't see it happening, look at what the manufacturers are pushing, watered down machines. If they put out a new GSXR1000R I'd be keen as keen can be! Let's hope.
GSXR750 left me a little cold. After 15 years with a little twin I think I'm a twin guy. I recently got a Street Triple and it's character is much closer to a 4 popper than I was expecting. So I'm kind of excited about the RC990 and "new" Panigale V2.
I own a GSXR750 but recently got a street triple r. I think the triumph just has way more character especially at normal speeds. GSXR is only fun when doing 3 figure speeds on big open roads
@@ryanmichael7795how much more comfortable is the street triple compared to the gsxr750? Is the wind really annoying on the highway with the street triple compared to the gsxr750?
@@worst-hd-playerstreet triple is quite a lot more comfortable than the gsxr. I could ride about for hours on the triumph and not get sore. On the highway the triple is pretty pants to be honest just due to the upright position and no real screen. But then i suppose you could say this about any naked bike
@@worst-hd-player i do really like both but overall i think the street triple r is better. It can can do most of what the gsxr can do apart from insane acceleration after 100mph. They are pretty much the perfect roadbike
KTM can't talk there way into a good reputation for quality. First they need to admit the issues. 2nd they need to fix at no charge those issues regardless of the bikes warranty period. 3rd they need to do more testing before releasing designs and letting the customers find the flaws for them. All the majors have models with issues but the good companies listen and fix them with minor inconveniences to the customer.
I owned a MY 20 790 Duke and it was so often in the shop I said never again. They'd have to really steer the ship around to make me reconsider living with a bike from the umbrella group again.
Hi Neevesy great vids as always 2 questions for you 1 why are bikes subject to such scrutiny in terms of emissions when we make up 1% of road emissions and then when we take delivery we get them mapped but full systems etc?? 2 who gets the choice of long termed at mcn… you usually get the coolest sexiest bikes does the tea lad get the electric bike?? 😂
four cylinder bikes with less than 1000 cc are the most exciting of all bikes and i wish there was more of them. The zx4rr is so good for its class, the r6 and zx6 are icons. Hard to believe itll be twins and CATs on CATS in the future Bloody enough of this
Hello Michael. I am enjoying Tiger 660 (even though I have a bigger bike). This is one of the best all-around bikes for road use for shorter, new, or experienced riders. It is usually overlooked by most people in a chase for bigger or adv bikes. But the truth is most bikes are staying on the road, and there is no sense in riding ADVs. My only question for Tiger 800 is whether it is a replacement for Tiger 660 or maybe for Tiger 850, and how these three bikes will live together within the Triumph lineup. I would't say that Tiger 800 can compete with Tracer 9, as Tracer 9 is more capable touring orientated bike with probably better specs, but I might be wrong. Looking forward to seeing your test for this bike!
Hello Sir, I was just thinking about how these two stack up against each other. I'm glad you made a video. I was wondering if you have any idea about the best specs years for buying the Suzuki GSXR 750. I prefer buying the more recent model of used GSXR. Please recommend. Thank you.
I’d say any 750 from K4 onwards is going to be good. Regardless of year, just make sure you get the lowest mileage, best kept, most standard bike you can.👌
Off road - I'm in Nottinghamshire and we have a fair few of the green lanes to go at. Used my 890 on them through the summer. Great fun. I'm really interested in the Suzuki 400 showed at Eicma, I asked at the dealership and they are saying Sep 25 to get one. Owning a 2022 890 adventure, I was worried about the cams. I had the oil tested and got an all clear. It's done 5k miles now. I also saw 44 teeth pulled a video about the subject. I think the none information from them has hurt present and future sales. They should write to the owners direct, say what the problem is and what to do about it if the bike is showing xyz symptoms. People have already spent money on the bikes, we need looking after, or it's highly likely we will go elsewhere next time. Thank you for doing the videos.
You should have a watch of the Dirty Garage Guy channel. He did a few videos on the problem. He believes it's lack of oil supply to the cams causing the issue. He has a head apart in his video.
I’m personally excited about the Honda Hornet 1000. I think it will offer a lot for the money in this class . To top it all ,I think looks great ( just get rid of the Bazooka end can ) . Even the upgraded version if the sale price is correct, a steal !. What do you think ?.
Definitely.... had my first r1 in 2004 ... had loads since and finished on a mt10 ... picked up a rs660 new and never looked back ! Lots more fun on British roads , yes your not going win a Willy waving contest but who wants to , times are changing 200bhp on the road is next to useless
I currently own a XSR900 but will be upgrading to a GT+ or S1XR shortly to do more long distance trips on, definitely feel like it’s a untapped market as these bikes mix comfort, practicality and sportiness so well, would love to know what your hopes for the “tall-rounder” segment are
Thanks Michael, quick question, car makers have used petrol turbos more in recent years with smaller engines why have bike manufacturers not gone down this route as a mainstream option?
They won't. The "Daytona" 765 is already powerful enough that the WSSP rules hinder it. Adding power would accomplish nothing. Only make it cost more and harder to insure = less sales. For the road you don't need it either. The current Street Triple 765 RS is definitely not a slow bike. If you do want more they have the Speed Triple 1200 RS for that. What they could & should do is make an RR version of the 765 lol Ike they did with the 1200.
@wiwwee1 they could just add a touch more power with the cc but a lump of useable torque that would make it better for road use. Also more power always accomplishes more 😉 and if thats to much power for the road then there alot of useless fun bikes out there.😀
Loved my Gixxer 600, but always wanted a bit more low end grunt but was plenty quick enough when having fun, but Gixxer 750 next time :) Not interested in those R9 things, always remind me of your first big learner bike.
That's a great idea for a video but you wouldn't be cheating if you got the forks and the rear shock,,up dated on the GSXR 750 you own,, good to hear positive spirit on the biking future,,🙏☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland ohlins, rear ktec front and marchesini wheels,, my K6GSXR 1000 does me 👍👍 cheaper than a new one 😢
Many new bikes are coming with SP versions with better suspension kits. Under your point of view, are they good value for money, or might be better to acquire the base model and upgrade it by ourselves with aftermarket components?
Dark Horse is literally love at first sight ) but to compare it with a Tiger... still thinking of Diavel.. or is the Diavel thinking of me?) haven't decided whether to rent or own. there is too much uncertainty with my location currently, it's difficult to plan yet. I just have to rebuild my entire life anew.. and I have no idea where
What tyres should I get next? I’ve got some old Pirelli Rosso Diablo corsa 2 from 2012 and I need to change them. They have tread but won’t heat up or grip well in the cold uk winter. How long Michelin power 2ct last? Or power 5 or 6? Or roads even? Fireblade 954 cheers
You rode the Tiger Sport 660 through two storms I think as I watched the video again last week. The 2025 Trident 660 is getting cruise control and a sport setting to address throttle slackness. I've been to my Triumph dealer and asked when the Tiger Sport 660 will get the updates the Trident has got. It makes no sense for a naked Trident to have cruise control and not the Tiger Sport 660. The 660 has enough power for me and the 800 is more than I want to spend on a motorcycle. What where the headlights like on the Tiger Sport 660? I did 70 miles in the dark earlier in the month. I need to be able to see the road in the dark and not having decent lights leads to more stress and fatigue.
Important middleweight question: When is Aprilia going to join the party!? The 660 is too small When is the rs8800 vtwin (?) Aprilia coming to battle the new Ducati, 990ktm, r9 etc etc? It REALLY seems that Aprilia are missing a trick here, big time 1100 is too much for the road, 660 not enough grunt to make me park up my old RSV Rotax. Cheers, Dylan.
Aprilia is a really small company. Not likely to develop a brand new engine anytime soon. They have been milking the RSV4 engine for decades now. Chopped it in half to use that engine for the 660 models. The ~400cc baby bike is the only new bike and that's for the market gap they saw sales potential in and less fierce competition performance vice.
Are the headlights on the current Tracer 9 any good? Young Dan Sutherland said the headlamp on his MT-09 long term test bike wasn't too great and the headlamp on the 2025 MT-07 looks much the same. Which past bikes, say from the 1990s and Noughties, have good headlamps and which of the current bikes available new? The CB1000 Hornet SP EXUP looks a bargain, shame about the matt/satin paint, why no HRC RWB colours?, but if the 2025 CB750 Hornet has a better headlamp that's of more interest to me than the extra performance of the litre bike.
Hi Neevesy! I’ve got a 2008 GSX-R750, and I’m thinking about dropping one tooth on the front sprocket, as you've suggested in the past. My main concern is losing too much top speed-what would you estimate the top speed might be with the -1 tooth mod? Thanks!
I feel like the R9 has a lot of potential but it seems like it’s a bit of a porker? 430 wet and that’s the factory numbers. I do appreciate Yamaha is doing what it can to keep dedicated sport bikes on the road. I guess time will tell once people are able to get their hands on one. I’m gonna go out on a limb though and wager the 750 is still the better bike.
Do you think they’ll keep the power delivery the same with the R9 or soften the tq down low and focus on the power up top like normal supersports? The MT is kinda violent from 50-110mph. I can’t imagine how crazy that would be with aero. I wouldn’t see much keeping up with it corner to corner unless the straight gets you over 140mph.
From what I understand, Yamaha has reworked the Tracer 9’s screen and bodywork for better wind protection. They claim it was de developed in a windtunnel. For now I prefer the NT1100 because of the fantastic weather protection, but if it turns out to be true Yamaha might be the better bike…. I will wait and see what reviewers will report on it. And make my decision based on what they say.
KTM have released the statement in MCN about covering under warranty but the FB group is still reporting KTM refusing retrospective claims contradicting what they said they would do publicly. KTM need to stand by their own words and mean what they say, genuinely, not put a press release out and carry on as they were. Saying they will cover under warranty then doing the opposite makes them look even worse when they had their head in the sand denying despite later acknowledging they knew since 2020 as updated the engine to prevent it
What bike will be fastest round the track. The answer is simple the one with the fastest rider. Years of racing taught me that!!!! My brother was always a second a lap at least faster on the same bike.
Good will? KTM’s instinctive initial response is illustrative of their management’s core values. Unless they have the courage to fire the managers that made the decisions that delayed the appropriate response to customers experiencing the consequences of manufacturing defects depriving them of serviceable product they paid for.
I suspect the tiger 800 will be a thing. They put a lot of power in a smaller displacement, which says to me, it will have some zing. It also has all the mod cons and is compact. Very nice. I wonder how it would compare with my hyperstrada - maybe the last of the compact tourers. Also makes me wonder if ducati will take their new engine and do something like the tiger - a bit of a rewind from the touring bloat.
all the new models are just becoming so expensive, no wonder loads of dealers are going down, my tracer which was the top model in 2022 was 12k, now the new GT+ is apparently going to be 18k, ridiculous
KTM - 1st thing repair all 790 890 engines. NO cost, NO quibbles - free courtesy bikes would be a good PR...... 2nd, Offer all new bikes with a 4/5 year warranty - will help endorse confidence in the brand & it will go some way to repair their reputation ! In general KTM have made a right pigs ear of dealing with this camshaft issue tbh.
@@armandomateus5103 no news on the launch yet, although I’d imagine it’ll be early next year. It has all the makings of being very good…and let’s hope it’ll be up there with the 1050 🤞
I like the new Superduke 1390 GT but I won't buy one. Too many owners have reported reliability issues and lack of dealership support if a problem occurs.
I’m thinking of buying a 2008 gsxr 750 race bike but I’ve also been offered a 2012 gsxr 750 race bike, is there much difference in the two chassis? Both are very high spec bikes full suspension etc etc. Any input would be great. Thanks!
There isn’t going to be a world of difference between them. I’d go for the one with the best spec and condition. If you’re going to use it for trackdays you’ll be equally fast on either 👍
2024 Gsxr 750: 150 hp @ 12,500 rpm, and 53.4 ft-lbs of torque @ 11,200 rpm. VS 2025 Yamaha R9: 117 hp @ 10,000 rpm and 68 ft-lbs of torque @7,000 rpm. The R9 has 22% less hp 2,500 rpm earlier and 21.5% more torque 4,200 rpm earlier. Also having a different gear ratio than the MT-09 it will have more top speed. I think all these R9 haters are going to eat their words when it's all said and done. 😉
I think it will be a very good bike for people who want to start going to the track. Reliable engine, good chassis, good, components, brakes, suspension. On the road it will be a lot of fun aswell. But i think it is out gunned by "real" sport bikes, if that term even means anything anymore. The 750 will almost certainly be far faster on the straights and the r9 will probably be better on the technical tracks. Would be interesting to compare to zx6r, cbr600rr. Maybe an older R6? A street triple rs?
On track I think the GSXR would walk away from the R9, not just with the extra horsepower, but it has much more racy geometry, sharper chassis and is a few kilos lighter too.
Yep, I think a gsxr600 may even be able to compete with the new R9 on a few tracks with particularly long straights.... and the GSXR750 on even more tracks than not. The CP3 just does not pull well enough at the top of the rev range to perform well on long straights if my MT09 is anything to go by. It pulls really well up to 110mph ish but after that it progressively starts losing a bit of its oomph.
You can't beat a stock ecu reflash or a self learning ecu ..not a fan of tuners eg 'a racer' , they need power, power uses frequency,,an needs a mighty stator ..
In my humble opinion, the GSXR would murder the R9 on track. If the R9 is anything like the MT engine, it will seriously lack top end and rev range, the GSXR will romp away on anything other than corner exit.
The simple fact that the r9 is useing the same engine and power (as brilliant as the engine is) as the mt-09/tracer , even a psuedo retro xsr900 takes away its credibility somewhat. Usually of course, it happens the other way around with a detune/retune.
For anyone thinking about getting a GSX-R750, don’t leave it too long, as those with low mileage/ standard spec’, etc, at a decent price are becoming rarer.
Issue i have with it is although its well priced its so dull looking like most hondas. Will be super reliable though
By I4 super naked I suspect you mean Euro I4 super naked. The suzuki gsx-s1000 screams and is super and is naked.
Hear, hear! KTM be pretending all is good, nothing to see, here's new bikes, give us some your money.
Absolutely mate , spot on comment & the good mail about Kato’s cam failings is that it could be ‘suss’ low pressure oil pump problems ,
KTM workshop manuals state the parallel twins to have 26lbs at idle & 50psi at 7000 rpm and it’s turning out that these figures are hard to get , as a lot are reading 6-7 Lbs low.
What a pleasure this channel is. As an ex-KTM employee I think they should just take the hit and recall all the bikes affected by the chocolate but I guess it's too late now for that.
Due to euro regs reducing power outputs, I now prefer to think of middleweights as any bike between aprox 80-130bhp... instead of by displacement.
@@xcelmaster4779 exactly! 👍
Suspension over a slip-on anyway!
Thanks mate 😊👍
I decided to ride my 2003 TDM with upgraded suspension rather then getting something newish with standard suspension. So i think, if someone has a bike that suits as platform, its worth investing in suspension regardless market value.
Terrific episode Neevsey. Cheers for making Monday evenings Downunder less dull 🍺
That’s good to hear mate. Glad to hear the episodes are travelling well 👍😊
@@neevesybikesTravelling well to South Oz for sure mate.
Love them 👍
Thanks for the kind words, Allan. Glad you like the vids! 😊👍
Would love a slabby 750 again loved mine back in the day
The Tiger 800 sport was (in my opinion) the more interesting bike presented at eicma last week. The specs are just spot on for street spicy riding.
@@paologhinetti5612 exactly! 👍
Good vids as usual fella 👍 just a quick question whats the model name for the black and silver arai lid on ya shelf called keep the vids coming
Thanks mate. It was one of the Arai ‘Neevesy’ replicas they made back in 2005/6 👍
Hi Neevsey, I have 2 questions I hope you can answer.
I always drop the hint when I see them. Maybe one day!
@neevesybikes thanks man for your reply 😊
GSXR750 all day long..my sweet spot.. mechano bikes (Adventure beasts) are not visually pleasing however they may ride.. just my view, 36 mins flew past as I listened to your balanced explanations..👍👍
Thanks matey 👍😊
Great show as always Neevesy, just wondering why do we have to endure restricted bikes when we left Europe quite a few years ago
I think it's economies of scale. It would cost a lot more to develop and manufacture bikes in widely differing specs. It's because of Euro rules that bikes' engine sizes are getting bigger...although it would be nice to have the big engine with no restrictions!
Wondering when suzuki is going to refresh the GSX-R 1000.
Love Neevsey’s British diplomatic approach to : “ no mate, you ain’t keeping up with me on my gixxer with an R9“
I heard that..our man handed that well
KTM can't talk there way into a good reputation for quality.
Hi-tech R9 vs pure manual riding experience with GSX-R750. They are both great bikes. I will wait for R9.
I owned a MY 20 790 Duke and it was so often in the shop I said never again. They'd have to really steer the ship around to make me reconsider living with a bike from the umbrella group again.
Love my cbr 1000rr06 last of the bikes with out needing a computer degree to ride it
Hi Neevesy great vids as always 2 questions for you
1 why are bikes subject to such scrutiny in terms of emissions when we make up 1% of road emissions and then when we take delivery we get them mapped but full systems etc??
2 who gets the choice of long termed at mcn… you usually get the coolest sexiest bikes does the tea lad get the electric bike?? 😂
four cylinder bikes with less than 1000 cc are the most exciting of all bikes and i wish there was more of them.
The zx4rr is so good for its class, the r6 and zx6 are icons.
Hard to believe itll be twins and CATs on CATS in the future

A Honda NT with cb650 4cl engine e-clutch and here is the sweet spot of touring bike.....
@@deanmsimpson Thank you. I will have a look. :)

I currently own a XSR900 but will be upgrading to a GT+ or S1XR shortly to do more long distance trips on, definitely feel like it’s a untapped market as these bikes mix comfort, practicality and sportiness so well, would love to know what your hopes for the “tall-rounder” segment are
what do you think about the winglets on modern sports bikes in terms of looks
Thanks Michael, quick question, car makers have used petrol turbos more in recent years with smaller engines why have bike manufacturers not gone down this route as a mainstream option?
Looking foward to triumphs response to the r9 a street triple 865rs with a faired version too, with about 150bhp.😊
Also more power always accomplishes more 😉 and if thats to much power for the road then there alot of useless fun bikes out there.😀
Another great video.
Thank you 😊👍
Its not just the cams with KTMs, its the electrics and oil leaks.

Ask Neevesy: Any recommendations / things to do or not do, when running in a new bike?
Important middleweight question:
When is Aprilia going to join the party!?
The 660 is too small
When is the rs8800 vtwin (?) Aprilia coming to battle the new Ducati, 990ktm, r9 etc etc?
It REALLY seems that Aprilia are missing a trick here, big time
1100 is too much for the road, 660 not enough grunt to make me park up my old RSV Rotax.
Cheers,
Dylan.
How about an RS990 triple? 🙂
Own a GSXR 750 seriously considering a R9 for a second bike.
QUESTION... WHY DON'T THE MAKE MOUSE FLAVOURED CAT FOOD? LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
Hi Neevesy! I’ve got a 2008 GSX-R750, and I’m thinking about dropping one tooth on the front sprocket, as you've suggested in the past. My main concern is losing too much top speed-what would you estimate the top speed might be with the -1 tooth mod?
Thanks!
Still over 170mph, so you won’t really notice it lacking on the road!
Gsxr 750 forever. I would buy it new even with 100hp at the wheel.
We won't know until next year. The riding launch is Spring time. Quite a wait!
Triumph Tiger Sport 800 vs. KTM 890 SMT: Which bike would be more fun and more suitable for touring?
From what I understand, Yamaha has reworked the Tracer 9’s screen and bodywork for better wind protection.
They claim it was de developed in a windtunnel.
For now I prefer the NT1100 because of the fantastic weather protection, but if it turns out to be true Yamaha might be the better bike….
I will wait and see what reviewers will report on it.
And make my decision based on what they say.
MN, Do you believe the updated cbr600rr will be released in the USA? Thank you
I’ve no idea…but let’s hope they do it soon. There seems to be lots of demand
What causes spark plugs to die?
Is it miles or age or both?
MV beat triumph with the turismo, kind of? Next week bike gotta be the T max I reckon.

Should fit in there nicely 👍
The decision to remove the Belly from the tuono V4 is a somethingi cannot get behind
@@neevesybikes thanks!
Euro 5 is well intentioned but is killing the sport. It is taking bikes we love off the market.
KTM should just fix every effected bike! No trouble with mine as yet-but I dropped the cat etc so it's been running cooler than most
2024 Gsxr 750: 150 hp @ 12,500 rpm, and 53.4 ft-lbs of torque @ 11,200 rpm. 😉
Yep. It will depend on the circuit.
A 2002 R6 will turn faster laps then the R9
But what about the weight difference? That's always an important factor.
@@IvarEriksson83 Not in my opinion, why would Yam replace r6 by r9, to do slower laps in Wssp? That would not make any sense at all.
On track I think the GSXR would walk away from the R9, not just with the extra horsepower, but it has much more racy geometry, sharper chassis and is a few kilos lighter too.
It’ll be a great shoot-out to see!
