Growing up in early 2000s shattucks was, and still is elite… but it’s pretty awesome to see a team from Arizona keep up with them. That goalie from jr coyotes is there best player. What a game

SSM is definitely the best hockey program in the country but they arent the only very high level program anymore which is sick asf. Still SSM dominated this game Coyotes goalie just stood on his head and played phenomenal, Shattucks passing, chemistry, possession, and skating ability is just so crazy these kids are going places

also crazy that theres kids from 9 different states and one kid from russia on this coyotes team, kids coming from all over the country hell even a kid from minnesota coming to az to play

right im a 92 and i remember the big names that were shattuck adjacent, I played AAA and the circles are pretty small. Had some buds who went up there and it was definitely in a league of its own back then.

They come to these tournaments in Canada and clean up playing against kids a year younger than their players if the truly elite play against them with out the older kids. Both teams had multiple players overage ,

In the Northeast every kid on a Division 1 thru 3 go to ISL schools average 50k per yr. My son and I went thru all rosters on NE Div 1 colleges thru Div 3 everyone went to these type schools. As someone in the comments said u got to have dough to get your kid into college hockey. The great kids we have watched play don’t finish college usually sign a pro contract by sophomore yr. One kid got a full boat to BC after 8th grade graduated prep at 17 played on BC for 1 season signed 57 million contract w the Flames. Noah Hannafin

@@LBIbodyboarding no not at all obviously if you are that good these schools make arrangements to shorten tuition. Some kids skip college go to top junior programs and get noticed there. Having played and watched hockey all my life at 64 the landscape has completely changed. There are just so many great young hockey players out there it’s a tough gig getting noticed. Charlie Coyle on the B s went Thayer academy 50k to a yr of juniors team south shore kings then BU. His 2nd yr at BU I watched him play Providence 1st period 2 goals assist and was by far and away best player on the ice. I said to my sons when we left he’s wasting his time here too good next week he was on the Minnesota wild. The point no matter where u go if you are in that 00.1% you will make the show they will find you. Your point is well taken!

Plenty of kids from Minnesota go D1 out of public schools. Yes, this is true for a lot of the country, but some places it's very possible to go D1 without a ton of money. Brock Boeser is a great example, his dad was severely disabled and didn't work and his Mom worked at a restaurant picking up shifts and look where he's at. This mindset is what has completely effed up hockey man.

They play a hodge podge of Minnesota high school teams at the very beginning of the season and then compete for USA Hockey AAA 18U championships. They do not play any Minnesota high school teams during the actual season hence why they’re playing this AAA team from Phoenix in this video.

Yeah these cake eaters are overrated softies. Sons of guys that had to work for it. Most of the aaa kids with "hands" that I play with these days (at advanced drop ins) look down at the puck constantly. That never used to fly even ten years ago. You'd get lit up the second you looked down. One time the goalie was fixing his pads and the hotshot that skated the whole rink with the puck didn't even notice until he almost skated into the goalie who didn't even have his mask on. Used to be "heads up hockey" now it's heads down guy with "hands" hockey.
