It seemed to me, that you are looking for meetups for and with knitters. There are many opportunities for knitters to get together in the USA, for instance Stitches West, TNNA, local yarn stores. I personally love listening to Marly Bird's podcast and hear about different designers, artisan businesses and events she co-organizes.
