I love seeing different takes on dishes! Its so interesting to know that there can be so many twists on gumbo.
Wow this is totally different from how we make okra soup, I’ve learnt something different today . Thank you
Chichi Okorie Well it's not a soup. Haitians make it as a stew. The African version taste completely different. I'm half Haitian and half Ghanaian, so I've been able to "taste" the similarities and differences between African food and caribbean food in general 😛
There are so many haitian channels on youtube yet urs is the only one with the simplest method that makes sense and reminds me of my childhood. Thank you! Happy new subbie here 🤗
Wow Haitians n Jamaicans eat like West Africans. I am impressed
@@fahsibosithole5387 Caribbean, Brazilians and all Latin Americans as well, I am from Brazil, Bahia, Salvador, the majority here in my city are black, we have Akara, moi moi, kalalu, we cook with palm oil, and more.
@@fernandodiniz6029, ??? Are you serious? Gumbo is from the US. In this very video she used Creole Seasoning, lol. Have you ever heard of Jambalaya, Carolina Red Rice, Hoppin John, Hush Puppies, or Cornbread Dressing. All of those dishes have African roots.
@@born_supreme Thank you, i comment a month ago, I was trying to find this video to fix it, but I forgot the title, because now I know these dishes.

Nice recipe. It is not safe to use Saran Wrap or any plastic to cover your food to cook. It is better to use either aluminum foil, wax paper or parchment paper.
Very good

💋💕❤️😘👌
Looks good but I’ve never seen anyone use plastic bag. My mom used parchment paper if needed. Plastic can make you sick.
It's not gumbo its kalalou. We're Haitians not from New Orleans. They put a different spin on it from the haitian influence. They make it very differently but kalalou is the original.
Gumbo is what some Haitians in certain regions of Haiti call okra. Others say kalalou.
I’m American & my boyfriend is Haitian so I loveeeeee when he brings this dish home!! Now I’m gonna make it thank you it looks amazing 🥰🥰🥰
