I learned to ride on Shire horses when I was just a tiny little kid. They were SO sweet and gentle with me even though they were a million times bigger and stronger than I was. Such amazing creatures 😍🥰
Everyone: so beautiful!!! Me: how long does it take to tack up 8 horse teams in those harnesses?! I take 20 minutes to groom and tack up one horse in riding tack
If you can find it there is an event event called harness hitch and haul butt. Everyone ties the horses up at one end of the arena and they're harness is at the other end. you run down grab your team run back get harnessed and then hook up to a 4 cart that they provide in the arena and run out as fast a you can. I think my dad got it down to about three mins, Could be wrong will ask him.
When I was a little girl my moms cousin had a team of I think they were Belgium horses, one time they sat me on top of one and it was the coolest thing to experience. I love horses and have been riding since I was young and I would love to sit on top of a horse as tall as some of these giants again. Beautiful creatures, life wouldn’t be the same without horses.
2:07 - These are weighted shoes FORCING the horses to lift their legs higher. Degrading their knees and structure for the tight appearance. It should be outlawed. The real cost is to your horse's performance and the destruction of his lower leg and hooves. Heavy shoes create greater concussion to joints and are usually fitted with heavier nails which destroy that delicate hoof wall capsule.
doesn't seem to be weighted shoes to me? Those look like Percherons, and some tend to have higher leg carriage naturally, much like Friesians. I don't think I've ever heard of cases where weighted shoes are put on drafts, to be honest. It's usually most common in saddle horses, like Saddlebreds and TWHs.
@@singularity613 This comment is over 4 months old. Wow. I was purely stating for the saddle breeds. They do it to Friesians as well, along with their terrible breeding. At least you know breeds. But I figured people who know horses would understand, and people who didn't, would educate themselves at my comment of torture devices. It's rampant in the show world.
I'm a heavier rider (not super heavy, I can ride a 1,100-pound horse comfortably minimum). But I prefer to ride Clydesdales just so I know nothing is hurting them at all and They are completely comfortable. So thank you for adding a big horse compilation 🙏
Yeah Percheron, it's a hitch horse, nothing but corn cobs with toothpicks for legs. I find the sweet 16 Percherons a lot prettier or anything that has Bloodlines coming out of France with Canada. Same breed different bloodlines.
Possibly a black Percheron (they’ve been known to sometimes have very few feathers on their feet) or more likely I’d think it’s probably a draft-cross since their legs are so long and thin like more warmblooded horses are
4:58, What a horrible experience for this draft horse. The equestian is 1. inside the stall aisle where a simple jump or hop from a horse that size could kill her.... 2. jumping on a horse that's clearly uncomfortable with her doing it based on the flinches "before" the girl tries, and 3. the horse is tied for why? All for the sake of a dumb video. Love the horses, hate the thoughtless riders.
Yeah, was really bothering me. It's another thing if the horse doesn't mind, has relaxed position and ears that don't scream "I'm uncomfortable with this" I'm not a horse owner but I understand body language easily enough. If the animal is too big to ride to just hop on, I'd personally get help from another person to place down steps then have that person remove those steps. Not climb all over a horse whose already proven to be more sensitive than humans like a jungle gym.
Now that camera technology is so advanced, all the human knows to do, is lazily hold the camera (phone) upright and record a thin slit of video, instead of turning the camera 1/2 turn to the right and record the camera's full-screen high resolution video! ... BRILLIANT! (... not.) Honestly I'm so fed-up with how people record video thanks to "tiktok" nonsense, really disappointing.
I got a shire horse turns out it isn’t ready to ride and it bucks I fell off 3 times and broke a arm after that I tried lunging it turns out it was the first time but he did pretty good after over 6 months of trying to get him to listen I did it my mom was going to sell it’s but let me keep it! It’s an all black shire male name “black winter”
Iv seen the behind the scenes of The Hitch horse industry. A lot of the flashy animation you see in the horses legs is not from abuse it's mostly breeding and the way they shoe the horse. There are some people that over check the animal way too much have been rumors of people using shock collars to get them to try to raise their feet higher but. Iv met people that run them bare foot and get similar results to people who shoe but I could maybe say treated with a lot more respect than race horses. I do think Hitch horses don't look the prettiest but like I said it's all in the breeding. I'v never seen or heard of anyone do anything like they do in the big lick but I wouldn't be surprised if there are people like that out there.
horse in the second to last one is a saint for being so patient with that

Yes they are Nig sweethearts I have a shire
I would love to ride one. They’re beautiful.
I'm pretty sure they are Clydesdales
@@marypearson8672 All big breeds are gorgeous but handle with care. Gentle giants don’t always know their strength
I hope you gave them tons of carrots and apples? 😍😘
Thank you for the beautiful footage.
This is the most beautiful type of horse imo.
Allso love how any human looks like an afterthought on such a massive back.
5:31 What a sweet, patient horse!
Thanks so much for showing heavy horses, I love everyone of them. Big is most definitely beautiful and I love all the fluffy socks. 😍 Merry Christmas.

Takes me 10 minutes to get a single horse ready.
Thank you for sharing. Love these horses. Such big giants, yet so gentle with all ages.

Trampoline idea was genius.
Have the sound one these videos when the horses and teams are cantering/running, it’s a very calming sound.
I used to think any draft horses were ugly but now I want a whole farm of them
I wish not so many bits! Beautiful horses!
WoW! That are such cute ponies.

That's just sad i started learning more about horse abuse and why horses get hurt so much its so sad
What the shit? That sounds like a fast way to end an othervise healthy horse.

2:55 what breed is this? Such long legs omg
It's probably an American Percheron

I still have yet to ride a horse

some were very good videos but most had horrible horsemanship and many were physically damaging to the horse. All in all a decent video

Why do you put horrible music over the videos?
Um mm ok..
Shame about the noise (music). Had to mute it. 😖👎
Love the heavy horses, but these videos are plenty stupid too. Wear a helmet people. and use mounting blocks!
Draft Horses no Tail cut ! cruelty Horses !
Horses are wide, not tall, stop holding your phone like amateurs.
