    Reuse and Upcycle your black plastic nursery pots into substantial home and garden decor. If your are sick and tired of black plastic nursery pots filling up landfills and cluttering up your yard then you want to watch this video! It is so easy and the materials are most likely items you have around your home. nursery pot, thinset, mastic, paper, glue, wine cork, styrofoam peanuts, concrete binding agent silka.(home depot, lowes)
    The idea here is to reinforce the plastic with the paper mache (or paper and glue) with many layers allowing the ease in which to place the peanuts which will give you some amazing texture when combined with the solidity of several coats of thinset. When dry you can paint or leave it au natural! By the end of this video you will be able to transform your boring nursery pots into an amazing grden and home decor everyone will be the envy of!

    This project looks lovely, but I don’t have the patience to do so many time consuming layers only to end up with 1 pot.

      Hello and thank you. It is so so easy and goes quickly. You could do a few pots at one time …tTrust me. Trust the process. AND you get to use those items that would normally end up in a landfill AND you get to look at an item of beauty in your own home❤️ appreciate you watching my channel and commenting. Lovely 🥰 lovely!

      Why is it that no one ever comments on your videos except me? I like to let people know how much I appreciate their time, trouble and talent. I don’t comment every time but more people need to leave comments, it helps with the algorithm and it drives more people to your channel. Anyway, that’s my nickel’s worth of blab, lol.

    I love this! Will it hold up outdoors?

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! The short of this is yes however USE flexbond thinset , and instead of paper Mache with glue I would shop towels or old t shirts in the thinset and make your strength base this way. THEN put the peanuts on and cover with another coat of thinset. I have done this myself and it is outside. Check out the part 5 the most recent planter pot transformation. It walks you thru the steps. I’m in a sub Tropical climate, lots of rain and water on my planter pot and it looks great. It’s solid! I’m leaving you a link to it. So for this one vid you commented on I would leave it on a covered terrace. After I made this I found the product flexbond thinset and I actually re- covered my pot I made for this vid so it can go outside. I’m always experimenting with materials however I don’t want to recommend anything until it’s tried and true . I hope this helps you. Thank you very very much for watching my channel. Much appreciated! th-cam.com/video/rdDTAkmoPUc/w-d-xo.html

    I’m wondering if you would spend as much on materials as a new pot would cost

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! I didn’t spend anything in materials. Packing peanuts, plastic pots , cork and water are free. As an artist I have glue, thinset, and artists brushes on hand. If you amortize the cost of the two items over 30 pots the cost is negligible and the satisfaction of creating your own pieces supersedes any minute cost . Have fun going around your house saying yes I did that and I made that and YES I did that one too❤️

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello and thank you! The cost is negligible. Packing peanuts, paper, and black plastic planter are free. The only cost was Elmer’s glue and thinset. The value is three fold: you are saving a bunch of “ disposable” items saving them from a landfill, you are creating something from nothing and will experience satisfaction and gratification of your own creation in your home and garden and lastly you are practicing sustainability ❤️❤️❤️i I appreciate you watching my channel and taking time to leave a comment. • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! These are holding up amazing! The one container with the packing peanuts and thinset is inside with fiddle leaf plant and all of my planters outside look fantastic. I check them every month or so especially during rainy season. I feel perhaps I should have a “Where are they now” video lol. As to your comment Without seeing your specific data references regarding paper Mache on plastic I cannot comment intelligently only to say as an artist I am constantly experimenting. So far my “paper Mache “ is lookin mighty fine😎appreciate you watching my channel and taking time to comment! ☺️😊

      Hello. when creating or upcycling the pots and using a cement, foam and other materials on the outside they create the perfect insulation to be used as a planter proper. Yes, the sun heat will heat up plastic and cook roots. However treating the plastic as a base foundation is perfect to create an indoor decorative planter or for the outdoors with weather permanent materials. Thank you for watching my channel.
