I was present at the match yesterday. What the highlights don't show is very unfair and unprofessional attitude Ryan showed through out the match. Typical brash behavior, trying to intimidate Iqbal throughout the match. Ryan lost ton of respect of people in the crowd yesterday.
And the ref's very biased attitude was clearly evident. Horrendous decisions were given against Iqbal. The whole match is available for replay @ PSASQUASH TV's website for anyone to see and opine. As much as ref's respect is important, I believe their inconsistent decisions are ruining the games and disheartening a lot of upcoming players.
I was also present @ Iqbal's qualifier and the main ref of this match was also sitting watching the match. His counterpart gave horrendous decisions against Iqbal in 3rd game when he was up 9-4 against clyne leading 2-0. Clyne eventually won the 3rd game with very clear help from the refs. Main ref of this match was fist pumping after Clyne won the match. Very biased and extremely unprofessional. Shame!

+Squash Enthusiast I was there too and it was certainly contentious, and I agree that Iqbal was hard done by on some points. But I don't think he ever adjusted properly to how the stroke rules work when you're facing a lefthander. Like, he kept putting in front left drops and then backing away along the side wall, and that's right in the way of Cuskelly's racquet. I'd be interested to hear from experienced refs on how one is expected to play differently (take different lines) vs a lefty.

There certainly could be some adjustment issues, but there were clearly some drops where Ryan had a line and at best his shot would only had been a counter drop from his forehand with just minimal swing, as oppose to playing the same from backhand. More importantly, I feel that refs recent harsh imperative on lets/strokes is inconsistent and often the benefit of doubt only goes to a higher ranking player. Since the major tournament matches are now recorded, I believe there should be a post match review on these dubious calls for the benefit of the players involved as well as spectators. I clearly couldn't explain many of the decisions to my friends who I brought along. When you have two similarly skilled players playing, calls such as these can be a difference. Certainly cannot blame the players for feeling dejected.

First commentator comments of the video, "Wow, dead as a dodo." When have I heard that before? Spice up the commentary a bit guys. It's very boring.
