    Few points re Dana's comments:
    1. Just because Dana says it doesn't take it true (we ALL can agree with that)
    2. If boxing is so messed up why is Dana getting involved via zuffa boxing?
    3. Dana acknowledges/accepts the millions pumped in by the Saudi thereby indicating the vast purses given.
    4. Re rankings - The UFC picked the media who rank the fighters (some of which are so small it's a wonder how they were chosen). Regardless, Dana blaming the media is laughable as UFC pick them.
    5. Re AI - it's already here. What's the delay by UFC to use it?

Between the Fury and Joshua fight he literally went from making 600k to $30 million 😂😂😂 TAX FREE. Also, if you just look at the overall pay structure of boxing compared to mma it’s a joke how much the ufc is fleecing these fighters. They need the Ali act to be applied to mma that’s the only way that they’ll ever be a chance for it to be rectified. The ufc doesn’t even give fighters a percentage of the gate not to mention how low the revenue share is it’s actually a joke. Canelo literally took home 80% of the revenue with his event with Berlanga and sold around 750k ppv buys when you compare that to a comparable star like Conor it’s a joke how much Conor is actual UNDERPAID for his revenue generation if he was a boxer instead it’s why Conor wants out of his ufc contract atm imo

If other promotions weren't managed so poorly they could give easily give the UFC some competition. Bellator hiring Coker who had already bankrupted his last organization just showed they were clueless. The secret is simple hire exciting fighters pay them more than the ufc and promote the fights. Bellator instead hired a bunch of boring fighters, promoted nothing, couldnt even make main events 5 rounds and went bankrupt

This doesn't make sense to me. From what I can tell, BLS has median pro boxer pay around the same level as the median when you look at the UFC roster pay list. But in the UFC, fans will see just about all of the fights on a card while in boxing no one watches anything but the main event. This means more exposure and other ways to earn money for MMA fighters, it would seem. During covid, I didn't see boxing make a commitment to keep going. I don't see the promotion effort from boxing like with the UFC. I don't see things like a Performance Institute in boxing, maybe it exists but I don't know about one. It seems the overhead costs for UFC are much higher. I think the hate on the UFC is misguided. That said, I think the UFC should get rid of the fight kits - I heard a lot of fighters say they could dramatically increase their earnings on fight night before the fight kits with Reebok came around. That is a change that could be reversed and help the fighters. Also, I liked that you always knew certain fighters like Chuck with those Iceman trunks.

If I remember correctly, Francis stated he was offered about $8 mil for the whole new contract,3 fights maybe? But don't recall any time he mentioned $8 million just to fight Jones. Also he fought out his contract, so if they wanted him to fight Jones they could have made rhat fight happen while he earned only $600k per title fight as per his last active contract, right before leaving the UFC. But as Danna White said himself once, Jones was asking for a ridiculous amount of money to fight Francis, basically saying that when you ask for that kind of money you don't really wanna fight Francis.

This is an obvious lie from Dana, but it's not surprising that he tried to sell this bs. He'll say anything in front of a mic to make himself look like he's always correct & everyone else is wrong. Dana might be the biggest narcissist on the planet, Dana's own response admits that the Saudi's are paying ridiculous amounts for fights... it's classic Dana double-talk

One of the main reasons Francis left the UFC was its restrictive nature. Hopefully pfl provides the flexibility he wants with the option of boxing while still upholding and honoring contractual agreements. The issue is not so much about the amount one makes, but the rules of engagement.

For one Francis did not re sign and turned down 7 million he could have made for fights as champ. This was publicly said by Francis and Dana. He made 10 million to fight Tyson. 20 for Joshua. Honestly he probably could have made that if he got Jon jones fight or was active and defending but would certainly not have been in two fights. Over the amount of time of inactivity he turned down UFC championship level money to go box and chase his dream we all praised him for that and rightly so: we don’t know the exact numbers for one. And for two while this statement is exaggerated I don’t think it’s as hyperbolic as we’re all acting like it is

Even if it is true would they have treated him better? What Francis's situation highlighted was how unfair the UFC treatment can be.
And if he stayed who is to say they wouldn't have done it again. Francis leaving was the best for him

Dana has the same basis for Ngannou making as much money or more in the UFC as he does for Powerslap out performing all of sports on the planet in viewership. Only Dana had "the numbers". He is the only one that knows anything about everything. Such a powerhouse he is.

People forget that a UFC fighter's money is mostly in the PPV sales. Conors purses are only like 2 - 5 million but then after the PPV numbers comes back he gets another 10 million or more.

Your final line could use some help, Luke. "Francis made the right call as to where he'd make the most money AND have the most freedom to make money elsewhere (outside of the PFL), help his fellow fighters with bigger paydays, and to make the biggest general point about bucking the trend of top talent just always sticking with the glamorous but corporate-minded and petty UFC."
    Fixed.

Ngannou couldn't even get one fight with Jon Jones. In fact, while Ngannou was fighting, Jon was all crickets. Jon didn't come out of the woodwork until Ngannou started to state that the Gane fight was the last on his contract and that he would not renew.

Imo, frank was just unrealistic.. he was getting 8 mil per fight (highest hw) but wanted cut off ppv (you do when champ), wanted free health benefits & a fighter rep.. umm that's what his manager was supposed to do.. rep the fighter.. & he'd afford his own benefits imo.. plus wanted even more money.
I think a manager got in his head & made him high-demand himself out of a job..

I think Francis in the long run would have had a more respected career within the UFC, boxing is the only fans of fighting, and the PFL?? who cares about that organization. The UFC is a slick well put together gold standard of MMA, and just chasing the money isn't always the smartest overall decision for anyone. Him beating jones would have made him a megastar.
