Rev. Donald Vails has left such a great legacy with so many artist he mentored! I loved working with him starting with the original WPAS Men of the Gospel Choir at the Kennedy Center, that he saw the vision to turn into a full time 100 plus male Gospel Choir, The Washington Male Mass Choir and then working with him with Ebenezer's choir, and for several special programs for President Clinton. No one could teach a song like Donald or inspire a choir to give its all! Bless Rev. Vails!

The original, way before Kirk Franklin and the Dallas-Fort Worth Mass Choir, which is also a very good remake. Glad I found this. Donald Vails was one of my mon's favorite singers and I grew up listening to his music.

Powerful, Powerful, Powerful! If your soul didn't get convicted by this testimony of repentance, maybe you need to lay down at the foot of the cross and plead the precious blood of Jesus to cover you, otherwise, you must be lost.

Oh this brought tears to my eyes. I remember these days at Friendly High School. I was just a little girl, but I started singing in the children's choir here. And had my solo debut and sung many solos in the Junior Choir here. I loved sitting in on the rehearsals too at Little Ebenezer too.
The music was just so wonderful, but so was the church. Sure miss these days. nostalgia

Listen to the words of this song. It’s a song of repentance with a request for forgiveness. Please let the dead rest in peace and the living have peace. The deceased have paid for their deeds. Don’t make the living who love and miss them pay because of any desire for salacious conversation. Thank you and Blessings.

This is singing. It's amazing how in TH-cam comments we're always hearing people say, "bring this back" and "I miss this type of singing", but in so many local churches, it's a race to sound like what's on R&B charts, and white worship music. Whatever happened to gospel music being its own unique creation that sounds different than the latest beats in the club? If we want this, let's INSIST on this from our church choirs and ministers of music! NOW! It's amazing to me that as an American living in Europe, I hear better traditional gospel music from AFRICAN AMERICAN professional touring choirs (so the music is still alive, but on legs) than I heard at black churches whilst back home Stateside!

Black folks are totally integrated into this society Traditional gospel came from segregation, jim crow, oppression, land theft, lynchings, murders, open terror and slavery. We've lost our soul and forgot all of our history for a dream.

I've always wondered if Dr Mattie Moss Clark taught Rev Vails how to play the organ although he knew how to play the piano from a young age? It kinda makes sense as Mattie Moss played the organ and Donald lived with her when he moved to Detriot. Mattie Moss Clark did organise the choir at greater grace temple of the apostolic faith with the permission of her husband and the request of the then Elder David L Ellis this is the same Church where Donald would later be the minister of music.

    1 Timothy 4:1

    Israelites 🗣 Isaiah 58:1
“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”
    Isaiah 58:1 Context
1Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. 2Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. 3Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. 4Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
    Isaiah 49:6
“And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.”
    Isaiah 49:6 Context
3And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified. 4Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God. 5And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. 6And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. 7Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee. 8Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; 9That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

    Psalms 149:3
“Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.”
    Psalms 149:3 Context
    1Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. 2Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 3Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. 4For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. 5Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. 6Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;
    Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
    Hebrews 4:12 Context
9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
    Psalms 147:20
“He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.”
    Psalms 147:20 Context
17He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold? 18He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow. 19He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 20He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.

As a child. 📜 I was shocked when I learned there are multiple gods and false deities in the stolen Hebrew history book. Trying to tell hardheaded and stiff necks and strange Sojourners is not a easy thing to do. At some point you’ll come to realize you’re walking amongst the walking dead 💀 They’ll look at you strange do not forget your walking amongst the walking dead 🌻
    Psalms 23:4
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
    Psalms 23:4 Context
1(A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
    1 Maccabees 3:48
“And laid open the book of the law, wherein the heathen had sought to paint the likeness of their images.”
    Joshua 24:15
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
    Joshua 24:15 Context
12And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow. 13And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat. 14Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. 15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. 16And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods; 17For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: 18And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.
