So I just 100% synched this and the trick for me (on PS3 so idk if this is even relevant anymore) was figuring out how not to crash. Once you get into the rhythm of the flying machine hiking up and dipping down, it's a lot easier to time the cannon shots. Also remember, if you shoot at the ground, it'll light on fire and give you a pretty big updraft. The same goes for lighting the gaurd towers and factories on fire. Other than that, you should just practice and, if given the opportunity, just crash the plane instead of getting shot (you'll be sent back to the last checkpoint insteadof loosing synch). In any case, so long as you don't get too low, it should be eady to avoid getting shot. Good luck!
Message from the future, if you can't steer or go upwards or downwards, your game might be bugged, make sure you have the "VSync" ON in Graphics menu. You will have to restart the memory after (either way it's pretty easy to go at the flying machine). And then you will be able to control the flying machine. You're welcome.
I thought my game was bugged because I couldn't get the hang of it while flying that thing, but the trick is to fire to the ground when you're falling and the smoke lifts you back up. Here’s what worked for me. Just go for the objectives. Ignore the towers with archers. If you get close to one of the towers with archers just nose dive and fly away. Keep flying around while avoiding the towers where they are shooting from and focus on the objective that you need to destroy. Trying to destroy all the towers with archers is a waste of time and you will fail every time.
I've had problems playing that mission on the PC version. I can't steer the damn thing for starters. Then I looked at forums to see what I can do so I lowered my refresh rate on the graphics settings from 144Hz to 30Hz which fixed the problem.
The final of this mission is so disgusting, it takes so much time to reach that machine but its control is out of mind, i just gave up after 30+ tries.
Hard to decide wich mission is harder...The Tank or The Flyer 2.0. This is the mission where i stopped playing brotherhood last time..Years ago. I got hit with arrows all the time,but i finally figured out why..The controls of that thing are hard enough..firemaking is the key plus it gets rid of those nasties. Not that the aim is spectaculair but god where my hands shaking just to stay clear of any Arrow...period. Better to let the thing crash a few times to figure out the best route.

I keep getting detected I kill them while they detection is only yellow and I get desync I kill them without being seen desync. I kill one guard with no one else around with my crossbow desync. You killed that two guard while one had a yellow bar if I do that I get desync
The missions with leonardo's machines are a total failure. You fail the missions often because the stealth in this game is....non-existent and the machines control like absolute crap. Good game with some terrible ubisoft design as always.

You have to be patient, if you get nervous, you will never succeed. I tried hundreds of times, and when I finally succeeded, I took this video, to help the players who could not pass. While flying with the machine, you have to throw a fireball on the ground, dive on it and rise again, first practice it, then you shoot the enemies easily because you stay in the air.
If I fail this mission one more time I’m going to visit Ubisofts headquarters with a hidden blade.

You have to be patient, if you get nervous, you will never succeed. I tried hundreds of times, and when I finally succeeded, I took this video, to help the players who could not pass. While flying with the machine, you have to throw a fireball on the ground, dive on it and rise again, first practice it, then you shoot the enemies easily because you stay in the air.
Horrible mission. Got shot immediately when on the flying Machine. Killing the messenger was also murder.

Hated this in ac2 and hated it even more in brotherhood, the mechanics don’t make any sense whatsoever
Funny, I was expecting the worst given the secondary objective, but found it to be surprisingly easy. Did it first try actually.
