True, Hamilton had great efficiency. But some of you are also dismissing the fact that Hamilton ( who I personally was a huge fan of) was allowed to take as many pitches as he wanted. His turn lasted OVER 25 minutes.
The raw strength and stamina that Vlad(2x) and Joc showed last night in timed rounds was nothing short of incredible.
Hamiltons situation is more difficult. New Home Run derby rules you can go rapid fire. Its easier to generate momentum with this style without the thought of outs in the hitters mind. Theres more pressure in a 10 out situation.

oh no question about it. everyone with a brain knows Vlad's 2nd round war tired him right out and Alonso had a way easier path to the finals. Both vlads first 2 rounds nearly doubled Alonso's, even without the overtime with Pederson. But everyone is talkin about Vlad after that. Alonso may have received the trophy, vlad received the legendary status breaking derby records.

Vlad's swing is the epitome of what they call a "violent" swing. I've never seen that kind of batspeed and torque before. And kid is 20 years old! Just wait till he gets a big stronger.

Josh Hamilton didn’t have time at all. He had 10 outs where if you hit the ball and it doesn’t go out.
Hamilton's record is still much more impressive given the rule changes. Vlad Jr. had way more than 10 outs there.

Do y’all think Yelich was glad he didn’t compete against Vladimir? Chapman had a chance in the middle of his round but his pitcher sucked, and it was his dad.
I thought Vlad was unbelievable, which he was, but the fact that Joc was able to also break Hamilton’s record in a single round seemed suspicious. I noticed that pitchers don’t wait until the balls land to throw them.
Yeah they’ve completely disregarded that rule
He was also hitting over a smaller wall, Vlad would have had 32-33 hrs had that wall in LF be the same height at RF considering 2-3 of vlads hit near the top of the 19 ft wall. But Joc still broke Josh's record legit too, a beast!

Not only that but Vlad hit over a 19 ft wall and some of the hits landed top of the wall. Joc was hitting over a 9 ft wall. Vlad would have had 32-33 hrs had he had the same 9 ft wall (10 feet shorter than Vlads).
