Beforest The Dream

beforest was born from a deep desire to live a sustainable and responsible lifestyle, stemming from an acute awareness that the land we live on, is in fact, a loan from future generations. It is up to us to protect, enhance and pay it forward.
Having tried various models in the past, Sunith Reddy, an IIT Madras Alumni, and a serial entrepreneur and Shaurya Chandra, an IIT Roorkee, IIM Ahmedabad Alumni realised - for truly sustainable practices to offer transformative results - it was critical that we have scale and knowledge.
Being the first ones to create collective Food forests in the western ghats of India, we have learned some very important and humbling lessons over the years and forged ahead stronger than ever.
Our best wins have been what we could give back to the community and our landscape. For example:
Protected and enhanced biodiversity of the landscape
Created employment opportunities and effected a reverse flow of young village folk
Combined the use of modern technology with traditional, local knowledge to create maximum impact
Most importantly, inspired the community around us to adopt similar sustainable practices for their farms too
We endeavour to make our collectives not a one-time effort, but a movement to show how co-existence with nature can be a mutually rewarding equation.
