I get so sick of his attitude that flying is more important and more coveted. The parents should have the maturity to understand that this is a team sport and that EVERY job on that team is important. On lower level teams, who gets to be a flyer often has to do with size (or lack thereof!) more than anything else. They literally line the kids up from shortest to tallest, the shortest being flyers, the middle being bases, the tallest being backspots. My daughter is a flyer simply because she is small for her age and easy to lift, but she participates in basing clinics and offers to fill in as much as possible so that she understands all of the positions. And it makes her more versatile......you never know when you might get the opportunity of a lifetime because you were versatile!
they are really good at cheerleading but the moms need to sort them selfs out the moms at my cheerleading a soooooo not as bad as these moms!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mother pushed me in ballet for a 8 years..I'm 16 now and Im grateful she did....qualified for a spot in Australian ballet institute. :) It's not all bad ;)
I had a 4 centimeter stress fractior in my spine or how ever you spell it and i was a flyer and i cheered all through out the time and not all situations are the same MY doctor said you can tumble and it wont hurt it or effect it in anyway thats just me Brookes obisly had something ALOT more serious!!

I have a severe spinal deformity, but I still am an undefeated dancer/ cheerleader. I strive to be the best, but my mom would never ever push me if I said it hurts. These mothers need to know when to stop.

I haven’t been able to dance since. Even walking is painful on a day to day basis.
healthy is not a size. some people have hormonal problems that make them LOOK fat but being healthy is not a size or even a look. and being bigger doesn't make you a bad cheerleader. some people are bigger and you need to get over it and stop commenting on it because it actually hurts people and i know you're not doing it because you care about them, you just like judging them.
Yea but she won't be able to do the elite tricks. Cheer and gymnastics are like swimming, diving, dance ect. It's all based on size and mass because of having to be areodynamic because you're in the air for so long. Brook does need to loose weight, it's not healthy for her, and she'd be able to do more if she did.

people have repeated some many times and heard from other people that you can be the size brook is be completely healthy that it has become a truth. it's not. after beeing a cheerleader for 11 years i'm studying nutrition and health and we deal with kids who have real hormonal problems. i don't see any problem with her being a cheerleader, much the contrary. but would she be healthier if she started a diet and took some of that weight off her spine? definately.
