This animal SHOULD NOT be held captive by these guys no matter how they treat it. It’s a wild animal and it’s cruel to keep it confined in an unnatural habitat like their house.
It needs to have access to lots of land and to be able to come and go to its companion humans. Would fear that it might approach other humans who might turn out to be hunters or trappers.
I have a bobcat and it was recommended by the exotic veterinarian that we take him to, to have him declawed. I was very hesitant until he explained it, the reasons why we should and that he is very young and will heal very quickly made us think a little more about it. He does not recommend doing it to an animal who is older as it can be very painful and may or may not heal.
