  • Ben Chonzie is the highest point of the heathery moorlands to the north of Crieff. It's finest side is to the east above Glen Turret. We had a last minute run urge to get the tent out and picked Ben Chonzie or next target...

    What's what in camping?
    The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 establishes a statutory right of access to land for recreational purposes, with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code including wild camping as an activity coming under these access rights. SOAC also describes the responsibilities and best practice guidance that should be followed when exercising your right to camp wild, for example not camping in enclosed fields of crops or farm animals.
    Camping can be an adventure and is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, but newcomers to camping may be confused by different names for styles of camping, with the term 'wild camping' often used to refer to any form of camping outside an organised campsite. For clarity, we have split camping outwith a campsite into two categories: 'wild camping' and 'roadside camping'.

    Nice to see the views from the top. Ben Chonzie was my compleation munro and it rained heavens hard and the cloud was down to the ground all day. I will venture back sometime and it will be good to do your route rather than the standard one.

      Hi Alan, After such an achievement it’s a shame you didn’t get views on your final summit. We quite enjoyed this wee route.. 😀👍

    The Loch Turret approach has far more interest than the book route for Ben Chonzie. 👍🏻

    The only real way to do Ben Chonzie is all the way from Crieff and back again on foot, that way the mountain retains her respect,
    as all too often Ben -Y -Hone is noted as an easy ascent/ramble.

      @AndyWardle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Williams it’s cos I’ve got a staika 😂 we’re proper geeks 🤓 😆 but cool geeks. The grey poles are the DAC 10mm ones. Gold ones are 9mm 👍

    • @brianwilliams7769
      @brianwilliams7769 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Wardle ah! Makes sense - think I may just paint my jannu poles grey then just to deceive and confuse tent spotters 😂

    • @AndyWardle
      @AndyWardle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Williams 😂 or. Buy some 10mm custom made ones from hilleberg. Probably cheaper to paint them mind 😆

    I've recently started watching your videos, they are beautiful and very very relaxing, thanks for putting the work into them. I saw you managed to hang a tablet/phone in the tent, can you tell me how you did it? It's it a special item or something you rigged up yourselves?

      Thank you James! It’s an MSR gear loft. I’m sure you could also fashion something from a length of cord though.

    How bizarre. Two weeks ago I walked the dog from Glen Turret car park to the very same point where you were camped. I’ve previously tackled Ben Chonzie (Ben-y-Hone) from the Glen Artney side, which was also nice, but had to stop just shy of the top as my elderly Mum was preparing dinner back in Comrie, and I knew better than to be late. Priorities, eh?
