Thanks so much for posting this video. I have had this truck about 4 months and your video was so much help to me. I changed my pre-filter and elbow fuel hose with no problem from the top. I can see why the stacking of the filter and the fuel heater leaks air/fuel. I wish you had told how to bleed the air after you changed the filter. It took me 2 hours trying to bleed but had to google it and found out that there is a 10mm bleed plug on top of the fuel filter then it was a snap and it cranked rite up. Thanks again.

Aside from pulling the electrical connector off the pre-heater there are 2 wires running off that connector. One to the lift pump and one to top of heater housing. Can these be disconnected?

Awesome.. my 93 d250 with 317,00 miles just started leaking at the lift pump and I wasn't sure if there was a trick to get the new pump in without messing anything up.. Thanks!

Just delete the whole bowl and bracket and that fuel line that goes between the two. Larry b sells a kit that has a spacer two gaskets and line that go from the fuel line to the inlet of the lift pump.

The stock lift pump has been disconnected but left in place. I have 60K miles on the truck using a 12V pump. I am using a RACOR element filter for diesel and the WVO has a separate tank. Have had no problems with my Golden Fuels System WVO kit on my 98/12V as it has to do with the stock lift pump.
    1) If the lift pump's been cycling dry is it toast?
    2) If the filter's been left there is either the pump or the filter a source of air leak?

Do you have to reconnect the electric wires ? Mine is melted out. I live in hot Arizona. I just want to be rid of the heater.

I've been broken down 7 months because of this. The dodge dealer screwed me out of 900 bucks, just to install the pump.
2 screws. 3 actually. I got screwed too.

Thanks for the video, I'm about to do it right now, but please if you can tell me about the wires, mine is melted in the connection, but do I have to put them or replace them? if I do the delete, there is nothing in there that needs power. Please let me know.

No just cut the wires and cap off. No need whatsoever to do anything with them. As long as they are open the light on the dash won't come on. Cheers im glad it was helpful 😊

Thanks for responding. I did all that plus I replaced the pump and the fuel tube that goes on top of the filter. When I tried to start the engine there was a big leaking from that tube , after a quick research I see that there two little washer for that screw, the dealer of course do no have available. Can I put any washer or is some special material. Thanks for you help

After deleting my heater element…on morning startup the electric power still cycles off and on as if the heater was still installed. You can see it on the voltmeter and on the tach when the power kicks in and out…how do I turn off that unneeded power still being supplied to a non existent heater element?

It's the grid heater under the intake horn that's drawing the amperage. It's normal. Headlights likely dimming when it cycles.

For those wondering about cold weather starts....for me starting in mildly cold weather was a no-go situation. I assumed a bad (or deleted by previous owner) pre-heater. I installed a block heater and it start's right up even in sub-zero temps.

mine is a 91 model. what are all those wires for.lol. my heater looks like i could make a ham sandwich on it compared to this one.its all good. my cummins is the best engine i have ever used for work and play. it just walks up 4 wheelers butts and i am not even trying because butts are generally stinky
