Some one is going to pile into the fence at the end of that. I haven't run it yet (and would be pathetically slow) so I'll b fine... But a fast rider not expecting a dead end without a run off...
@@myridewellington7476 Actually the sun's out and I was just thinking what to do.. I can even take the van and not have to suffer a coronary just getting to the windmill... Hey the sun's out... what are YOU doing at the computer q8)
@@myridewellington7476 I was a little disappointed.. all the good jumps were doubles making it very hard to learn on and theres a REALLY BAD design to the left right sweep at the top that is going to put a learner in the trench directly beyond... otherwise a great track for the skilled but my quest for a good training ground for jumps goes on (Makara peak also doesn't cater for beginners with really only 1 jump for them, but with an annoying pre jump just to phase them out. @@myridewellington7476 I was a little disappointed... most of the jumps best to practice on are short sharp doubles making them unsuitable to learn on for beginner jumpers. And the sweep left near the top 0:18 is going to put a beginner into the ditch beyond if they sweep the "We Dig, You Ride" and run out on the left... The ditch (Drainage) could be easily moved, and puts a near 2m drop into a vertical face. Riders that have ridden it run straight or left in the 1st sweep making the berm fairly pointless except to guide the inexperienced into danger. Otherwise great... it feels the bottom section where the up hill sections are, has yet to be worked.. ie up hill peddling... so most of the riders I watched while I was there were pulling out around the 1:00 "what the heck" mark for another run. of course talk is cheap from my armchair... I'd love to get permission to make a set of table tops and dropoffs for learners down the bottom half of Murchison Street, Owhiro Bay. The Makara Skills area is a bit far away and theres really only one jump there for learners.. and it has a pre jump that makes it a poor beginners mound... (But at least its a table, not a double so theres room for mistakes. ... And they removed the dropoffs... which are a most needed skill for most tracks round wellington, especially Makara....
My fav from way back, such a blast. And love the Makara Peak too and miss the boys at MudCycle. Fuck I am old.
This is awesome content. Are you planning on doing mt vic / makara / wanui?
Absolutely! Just been waiting for some good weather :)
Totally agree, this is awesome, especially for learning the area. Thanks team!
I go here everyday and everything looks so small on the camara lol

The fence does come up fast. The track is very accommodating for riders not used to jumping so I would definitely recommend giving it a go!
