What a wonderful gift to give this man and his cousin. How many people can truly say they were able to stand where their Father fought over 100 years ago. A magnificent and moving story ... it had me in tears. So many countries contributed to the freedom most of us have today!

This was riveting. I had never heard about this battle or these tunnels. How awesome that you brought his family to see this. It moved me to tears.😢

My father is named Vimy after this battle. I've been told that a family member fought there but haven't been able to figure out who it was yet.

My uncle TM1c Verden Fayette Ness USN served during WWII making 9 war patrols in the Pacific aboard submarines. Aside from a few muster records, all of his history seems to have been lost in a fire in the 70’s at a military records holding facility. I’d dearly love to know what subs he served on and the patrols he was part of. His only remaining sibling would also love to know, but it seems lost to us now.

@@AncestryUS the one story you covered with the compass case and then to the compass it's self. Would be nice if the family would type up their side of the story up to the end. Then display in that museum for all to read.
I already know my history, thanks anyway
