    Thanks mate…
I had a grub of a plumber try to scam me out of my dux airoheat. Told me tank was leaking (no signs of leaking) & that he was gonna take it away & fit an electric.
I’ve fixed it myself…& discovered he fit a brand new sacrificial anode to a tank that’s destined for the tip???
I fit a new controller & it’s working again. He even turned this valve way down to stop any flow if I fixed it.

Both the Cold expansion valve and the hot water safety valve are also meant to be replaced every 5 years as recommended by the manufacturer. Also with the "Temp" valve is that the old anode residue starts blocking them up. That's why you need to flush them out.

NONE OF THE DIY PLUMBING FIXES ON TH-cam SAID THIS: turn off the main water to your home (if you have one), turn on the closest faucet to the main water source, set that faucet to cold, let all of the water drain, set that faucet back to hot, wait 10 minutes, with the faucet still on and set to warm, turn back on the main water line to the home. Fixed my airlock problem, maybe it can fix yours

I wonder if the Tempering Valve (orange cap) can deteriorate and cause water hammer. We have developed water hammer and cannot pinpoint a location of the source except it louder near the Stellar 3 system and the Tempering valve feels like it is shuddering with the water hammer. The hammer is caused by mixer tap downstairs and not caused by any other tap. Just love the practical and technical videos - outstanding.

I doubt its the tempering valve, will most likely be an isolation valve or tap washer somewhere. If your in Perth give us a call 1300884146

Great video , thanks. I have just moved in to a 12 year old house, and the pressure is low and it's scolding hot. looked at the tempering valve and some idiot had it screwed out all the way. I've adjusted it, but the pressure still seems low. But i was going to check the anode. But now I'm convinced to replace the anode and tempering valve and the safety valves and flush the whole system. I need to be careful as it's a rheem with a solar booster.

Had low hot water pressure immediately after the council turned off the water in the street to maintain the pipes in a 30 year old subdivision.
We have a regular electric hws with the mixer valve.
    Pressure release valve had nothin.
I TURNED up the cold water intake valve and opened the release valve. CLOSED THE RELEASE VALVE. And hot water pressure returned
(I had tried this cold water intake release before to no effect- seemed to need more intake oomph)

Thanks for Richard's video. It is very good explanation. May be I have the same problem with my Dux 170L prodigy 5. Several months ago, when I open hot water tap always starting with popping sound. From last week suddenly my water is not hot and Pilot lit OFF. I try to start again and main burner working only several minutes and OFF together with pilot lit. I thought maybe the thermocouple was problem. I have changed it. The main burner was working more longer during I opened hot water tap continuously, but the temperature of water was not hot as before. On the other hand popping sound on the tank making noise. I opened Hot water Tap and also several time to drain the water from the tank by release both valve Top an Bottom on the tank. The noise was reducing, many sediments I found under Hot Water Tap. I was waiting until more than 90 minutes, water temperature was slightly increase but I think less than 40 degree Celsius(I don't have thermometer). Now the problem if I open Hot Water Tap, there is no hot water because Pilot Lit still OFF( that's why the main burner also OFF). Is it problem of Tempering Valve and should be done Major Service of the Tank same as your video which in Thornlie and Burswood ? Could you give a quote for me, please via my email valens14@yahoo.com. Thank you very much

Have you considered using a Bluetooth or RF thermometer like people use for BBQs so you can remotely read the tap temps?

I had a Rheem Stella tempering valve replace but now the hot water is really hot but only for a short time, the water in the morning doesn’t get hot enough and once in a while the pressure is pretty hard until I turn the tap off and on again. Do you have any videos on these issues? Also thanks for the quality info 🙏🏾

It actually is hot enough if its 50 degrees at the tap basins/showers etc.
Kitchen sinks/laundrys can be hotter if the plumbers arent too lazy running seperate feeds…

@@PlumbdogPlumbingPerth had a plumber tell me my hot water was hotter than in most homes he visited and unfortunately had to replace my 11 year old Vulcan unit the other day with a second hand Aquamax 390, water isn’t as hot and it doesn’t deliver hot water as quickky to the taps compared to the old unit, going to have to adjust the cold water mixing valve to the minimum, but that will only increae the temp by 5c…..

Dux is shit. Don’t last long and always have probs with it. Now we got the compulsory tempering valve it’s double shit. I’m going back to heating a tub of water with an open fire. Lets see the government regulate that.

    • @mvfc7637

@@dancruz4635 unironically I was thinking that when considering cleaning my bbq, you need really hot water to be able to loosen up the grease that builds up and then to rinse the cleaner from the insides, can’t see the current hot water system producing water which is hot enough and I entertained heating some water on the oven and using that instead!!

  • @vipa1973

Just like I thought should work except it doesn't. Mine has an orange cap with the triangular indentation and wouldn't turn the thing at all. Gave it some lubricant to loosen up, hope it will help. I watched the service guy "adjusting " it up with great force and a plier which damaged the soft brass triangle knob. Now the water is far too hot and would like to turn down by 1 degree. What do you suggest me to do if it remains stiff and won't turn? The serviceman wants to charge an other service fee just to come from 800m and turn the knob.

Hi, i have hot water that runs good pressure then less then good again over weeks or months and i check the cold water tap at sink when this happens and get strong flow. Have the gas temp knob to 4 out of 5 but the mixing value has a turn valve from 1 to 5 and is set in the middle and tried to turn it but seems stuck so corroded and partially blocked? Is mixing valve faulty and causing temp to not be that hot then hotter other times. I got the machine to light and boil and then had shower and was almost all hot water and just tiny bit of cold so that cant be right?

    • @PlumbdogPlumbingPerth

It depends on the temperature of the hot water to be cooled. 42 degrees is for schools so doable.

      @fatsnorkel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Gaspar314 You can have the temperature control inside the actual unit on the highest setting when you install a tempering valve but then you adjust the actual tempering valve to get 50 degrees.Eg- On the Aquamax units you could have the temperature control on 5 (75 degrees) then adjust tempering valve to 50 degrees.
