Hello Amanda, Are 一件蛋糕 and 一塊蛋糕 interchangeable? Growing up I was taught 一嚿蛋糕 or 一塊蛋糕 . Now I am second guessing what I was taught. Thank you for all your hard work, your page has helped me brush up on my Cantonese.

It depends on the region. In Hong Kong, we often say 一件蛋糕 🍰 or 一嚿蛋糕 🧁. Less people use 一塊, but it's correct for spoken language. 😉

please do not use the 'j' for a 'y' sound. it is not phonetic! thank you!

It is. The International Phonemic Alphabet (IPA) uses “j” for the “y” sound
