Boy. As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought, "ah, shit. David's signed up for more tedious shit." Like who got the time to stand pasta up at attention. David does. And that's why we're subscribed.
lol same but for some reason him filming it at an angle made it more bearable to watch rather than buzzfeeds from the top view. i really couldnt handle that one!
David, thank you so much for continuing this series. I want to let you know how much I love watching these videos. And I also have been doing a lot of them along side you! I don't want to sound cheesey, but thank you so much. Best wishes, your BIGGEST fan!
I have an idea to fix the problem of the sauce not getting all the way down into the rigatoni noodles--it might work better if you either omit the meat, or put the meat on the bottom of the pan (sort of like a cheesecake crust), and then put just the sauce on the top, so there are no chunks of meat that don't fit inside the noodles, and then put the cheese on top of that as normal.
if you wash your hands with a spoon your hands won't smell like garlic! even though I only used this method with onions I'm sure it will work with garlic to!
David from the past! If you haven’t notice the Rachael Ray Show TH-cam channel. Made the same dish, on there episode “does this work.” Not only that, they made the recipe two times and couldn’t get it right! Keep up with the creativity! Always stay true to yourself.
For the garlicky fingers, rub them on the edge of something stainless steel, like a kitchen sink. It neutralizes the smell. It works for onions too. I do it every time I chop garlic because I feel the same way that you do!
and yes it is called springform, but it is not namend after the season but after the german word for jumping meaning " springen". The construction of the form gave it its name of springform, in which form usally means pan in the area of baking in Germany.
Hello! to get rid of the garlic smell, right after chopping it, rinse your hands with cold water without soap or scrubbing. that will prevent the garlic oils from penetrating into your skin and staying there the whole day. keep up the good work!
What always works for me with garlic and onion smell in my hands is to rub them against stainless steel. It can't be too much of as hybrid steel, tho, but it works for me every time I use my sink, but yours might be ceramic. Stainless silverware works, too.
If you want to get rid of the smell of garlic (and onions too) on your hands, rub them against stainless steel under cold water. I always do that while I'm cleaning knives (obviously do it carefully and avoid the sharp edge of the blade) or whatever metal ustensils/pots/pans/etc I used to cook with. You could even try just rubbing your hands against your sink if it's also stainless steel. Most of the smell should be gone after you rinse your hands with cold water.
David, darling, stop worrying about being 21! It's not the end of the line, you're not old. I remember feeling the same when I was your age but honestly my 20s have been my most fulfilling and rewarding years. Independence, growth and personal development happen in abundance. 21 is not old. You have many amazing years ahead. I hear from my older friends that your 30s are even better because you have added on financial stability. You've got a bright future ahead of you.
useful hack: to get the smell of garlic off of your hands, rub your hands on stainless steal...like you kitchen faucet!! it works! Edit: I liked my own comment to get the ball rolling ;)
I seem to recall reading on some debunk site that this is actually a myth, and stainless steel does nothing (despite the availability of 'soap bars' specifically for this purpose). I might be thinking of something else though.
Springform pan! :P Usually for layered cheesecakes (like cheesecakes that have toppings)... nice video! I think that Buzzfeed should've probably added a step in assembly so you can tap the pan and let more of the meat settle within the pasta. I think that would've helped with the dryness you're struggling with, though I also agree that simply broiling after baking would've been better. Thanks for your videos, wish you luck!
i made this yesterday and I couldn't get my sauce and meat to get down in the holes either, but my family still liked it. Next time I'm going to put the meat sauce on top but put just some sauce wtihout the meat down in the noodles, or use some ricotta cheese inside the noodles.
I puree my sauce and meat so it slips down into the pasta. Kinda slam the pan down to vibrate the sauce down. Having a layer of Bechamel will also keep it from being dry.
You know honestly if a pasta has a good sauce I really like the taste of over backed pasta. A bunch of people say they hate when a part gets crunchy or it feels rubbery, but really if done right it's fine with me.
I would use ricotta cheese and stuff it in the holes with some herbs. also toss some egg in with the pasta so it holds together a bit better, and put the parmasean on top instead, with a bit of tomato sauce. also maybe making it in circular remekins so it looks more appealing.
I have a tip to get rid of the garlic smell , if u rub your fingers on the knife under water like on the sink under the tab the smell goes off!! also works with onions , don't believe me ? try it out
I made this I'm the same way but I just poured over about a half cup of water before I added the sauce so that the pasta didn't dry out in the oven and it came out ok. If I made it again I would have just added more herbs and some tomato paste along with the sauce just to add a bit more flavour and richness to the sauce, but it was a good dish just could have done with those improvements 👌🏽
David to get rid of the garlic smell from your hands, rub your hands with a little salt, then rub them against anything made out of stainless steal for about a minute and the smell with go away. Hope it works!
Hey, David! They make stainless steel bars (some look like a bar of soap) that you can rub your hands with, and it's supposed to absorb the garlic smell from your hands. You should test one!
Just a tip for you David, If you want to take off the garlic smell of your hands, you should rub salt on them for as long as you can. That will help to take the majority of the smell away.
I’ve made that before and it was pretty fun and everyone liked it :) but mine also has a ricotta cheese mixture that I had to pipe into each noodle. It was on the food network app :)
Word to the wise: if you use a springform pan either wrap the bottom in foil on place it on a sheet pan. Some pans leak and you will save yourself from scrubbing baked on tomato off of the bottom of your oven! Have fun cooking!
I think is better if you put the tomato sauce first, like... without meat, so there would be sauce at the bottom too, and then you put on top the meat (with a lil bit of sauce so it won't be dry too)
Tip: after cutting/preparing onions or garlic, wash your hands like normal, then wash them with lemon juice, and then wash them like normal again. The smell will be completely gone
Hey David, I subscribed recently and have been powering through a lot of your vids ^^ Could you possibly do the shakshuka dish that buzzfeed recently did? Thanks a bunch!
You should retry this, however put a delicious ricotta parmesean cheese mixture in each noodle, then line the top and bottom of the pasta with sauce and bake it
Honestly the best way to get rid of the smell of garlic from your hands is to rub a piece of silverware under warm water all over and it honestly really works. It sounds weird but I do it every time and I don't smell like garlic at all.
If the garlic smell on your hands bothers you, I think rubbing your hands on your sink faucet or some sort of metal object should get rid of it. I've never tried it since it doesn't bother me.
Why do some people call pasta noodles? To me they're two different things, and I will probably never understand where this comes from.. Also, shepherds pie is made with lamb, hence, shepherd- a cottage pie is made with beef :)
To get the garlic smell off your hands rub the back of a silver spoon all over your hands , they also sell a soapless soap , made out of silver made to get rid of garlic smell off hands
Hey David! Run your knife under cold water, and rub your garlicky fingers on the flat of the blade. Gets rid of the garlic smell right away. Gamechanger.

You can get out the garlic smell on your hands by washing them with some lemon juice.

Love this! What size pan? Rub your hands on stainless steel while washing them to nuetralize smells. I.E. sink, silverware, etc.

Hello David. To avoid your pasta sticking together, boil them with just a little bit of butter. :)
Yes! I was wondering how this was gonna taste and now I know! So I'm gonna make it, thx for trying out the recipe :)

You can get rid of the metallic taste by putting in sugar. Also you should use some sugar in your food anyways, makes it a lot better.
