[4K] Largest District of Essen City - Kettwig Old Town Walking Tour

- In this Essen Kettwig tour in Western Germany, I am walking you through the Old Town of Essen Kettwig during the worldwide pandemic in May 2020 and cover a few sightseeing spots during my tour. Kettwig is located in Western Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia), Germany's largest metropolitan area. It is the most recently and largest incorporated district of Essen. Until 1975 it was a town in its own right.
Kettwig emerged from World War II largely unscathed and with most of its medieval old town still intact. The tower of the Market Church dates back to the 14th century, with additions from 1720. The Catholic Church St. Peter was christened in 1830. Other sights include Schloss Hugenpoet, which has been remodeled into a hotel, Schloss Oefte, and the Kattenturm, a 14th-century watchtower belonging to the former castle Luttelnau. I am starting close bus stop that leads to the Old Town of Kettwig and then walking you through the historical town while showing you various sights. After that I continue walking towards the Ruhr River and will return to the bridge close to the beginning of my walk.

My family is from this town. I have spent a few summers with my Oma walking these very streets. I had my great aunt live in that old age home, and my family went to that pink catholic church! Wow. This brings back so many memories for this Canadian! I miss my Oma and the times I had in this little town before it was amalgemated under the Essen umbrella. Kettwig-Ruhr 4307

Oh, interessant. Ich wusste gar nicht, dass es so schöne Ecken in Essen gibt. Ich war noch nie dort. Naja, fast. Über die Brücke im Hintergrund bei Minute 2 bin ich schon sehr oft gefahren und habe in das Tal schauen können :)
Es ist wirklich sehr schön dort! :) Essen Werden kommt auch die Woche, ist ebenfalls recht empfehlenswert!
