What a brilliant no nonsense tutorial, no fluff, just straight up helpful. I'm in the UK & have no idea where I'll get the feed though. I only have one orchid, so I may just pass on the feed & just use the potting mix you recommend. & carry on with banana peel feed. Thank you so much 😊

Everything you say is true, except the cost for all the raw ingredients for the potting mix and fertilizer is going to add up to much more than a few bucks. It just isn't realistic for those of us that were gifted a nice orchid to keep alive. I think folks like me are probably stuck buying the pricey mixes. Thanks for the info, though!
Hi! Quick question. I have a small phalaenopsis orchid that is REAL SAD. I cannot get her to be happy with the medium I put her in. I have only used bark with nothing else and SOMEHOW the bark keeps molding. Not sure if I have a contaminated bark mixture but every plant that has received this bark has gotten a nice yellow and green mold that attacks the roots + bark. OR, could this be due to my watering? I truly only mist her during the week and then once a week she gets a 15 minute soak. Other than that, I do not flood the soil. Unsure what to do to combat this other than to now try a different medium to put her in. My question would be, is using sphagnum/peet moss an okay substitute for the finely ground bark? (Maybe a silly question but I'm a first time orchid mom and it's clear these gals are a whole different beast). Cheers!
Hey Kriiss, I think its too much water. I literally water my orchids once a month. That's it. I think you're making the medium go anaerobic with that much water.

I agree on the dry fertilizer! Liquid fertilizer just shoots straight through!

What brand of canola meal do you recommend? Thanks! Great video. Very straightforward.

Great video!! Can I use this mix for other indoor plants?
I use it for common house plants all the time!
Hi, I accidentally used horticultural corn meal instead of canola meal for the mix. Will using the mix with that ingredient kill orchids or epiphytes?
For the orchid experts, can you get moth orchids in blue? I think that would be a really STRIKING flower!
How did you sterilize & dry your bark to get to this point??
Do you make this for sale? How can i get this misture please?
