    Maoris tend to have alot of side dishes with hangi too, like creamed paua, raw fish and alot of seafood.

    Good day Dunn Family. First I want to say thank you for your videos. I'm from Cape Town and thinking of making the move over with my family. I really enjoyed following along and seeing how South Africans can make it in New Zealand. Thanks for this video, what I think would have been nice to see is how they prepared the food. The food looks really Lekker 👍. If possible please can I ask if you guys can make a video about the natural disasters in New Zealand, I heard there are a lot of earthquakes. So I just want to find out from some that's living in New Zealand what it's really like. Much appreciated and keep up the good work and have a blessed week 👌👍🙏

      Hi there Alex, Thank you very much for your support. We really appreciate it. I don't think you will regret the decision - we have been very happy here so far. You will definitely enjoy the Hangi :). We are in Auckland and have not experienced any earthquakes. Auckland is significantly less affected as it is situated in a less seismic region. Wellington however is quite bad. They have experienced a number of earthquakes this year alone. So it really depends on where you live. All the best and let us know if you have any questions.

      @@Dunnstakenz Thank you for the info, much appreciated 👍🙏. Life in New Zealand will be much better than what is going on in SA, so I just need to make the move. I was looking to be moving to Auckland side so that is good news about the earthquakes then. Thanks again for responding, much appreciated. Keep safe and keep up the good work 🙏👍. Will maybe see you guys in New Zealand soon.

    If you like pork and potato, you will love hangi. But if you want better, don’t bother with hangi food quite frankly. Rather basic fare. There are soo many and much better choices available nowadays, from Asian to European to Latin American. Go to most markets and sample the variety. Amazing.

      We really enjoyed it, reminds us of traditional food back home. Thanks for the suggestion, we are working our way through everything on offer.

    If Raw fish is made by with cream,avoid it, it's not proper Raw fish..

    • @Dunnstakenz
      @Dunnstakenz  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, thanks. What is the proper preparation method?

    • @Andy_M986
      @Andy_M986 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Dunnstakenz Soak the fish in Lemon juice, but not too much,just enough to coat it all,and sit a little bit on the bottom of the bowl. Then tip out all the lemon juice,add coconut cream, and chopped spring onions,,taste it as you go along, make sure you can taste a bit of the Lemon juice . That's Niuean style,where I come from. Lots of other islands add tomatoes, cucumber and chilli,that's not the original way of having it.

      @Dunnstakenz Just blanch the fish so the outside layer turns white,only a little bit,then tip out the coconut,you don't want to over cook it with the Lemon juice.

      @Dunnstakenz You're welcome, keep an eye on NZ Loyal,they are going to cancel all the taxes,and only charge everyone,a 1% transaction tax,that means most of your husbands pay,will go into his bank account. Everyone,even the businesses,will only pay 1% tax on every transaction. Spread the word to all your Kiwi mates,get them voted in, a lot of good things are coming with that party.
