Loved the pattern and the texture it creates. I started with an even number and did not end with a half double crochet in Row 1, so I believe you do need to start with an odd number of chains in order to end with the correct stitch. Hope this helps anyone that may have come across this issue.
Hi! I am brand new to crochet and have been teaching myself through TH-cam videos, including yours! I just started two weeks ago and have already made several small projects including a scarf and baby blanket. I just completed making this headband in a charcoal gray color for my mom to match her new coat. It turned out so beautiful for my first try! It was so easy but looks like I put a lot more effort into it than I did. I will continue making these in other colors for other friends and family. I did about 21 inches to give myself more room to sew the ends together a little lower. These would be cute for my nieces, but I will have to play around with the measurements a bit. This stitch would be nice for other projects, as well. I love the texture! Thank you again for your very informative videos.

Can't believe it's so easy! Love that grit stitch but I think a waffle stitch would also look good. Gonna try it!

I don’t have time to make these for Christmas gifts this year because I’m already working on a shawl, but I’ll definitely start in January making some of these for Christmas and birthday gifts. I just have to find the right colors for the right recipients.
I used a medium teal green because they did not have gold available when I went to Hobby lobby. I think it turned out pretty nicely. Now I have to make one for my cousin’s granddaughter. It will be narrower and of course smaller.

Thanks for sharing this pattern. Mine turned out really beautiful. Only thing is, you're right about the tricky part at the end of every row, the last chain is quite challenging to get the hook in it. So, instead of starting with a sl st in every row, I start with hdc. Idk it just became easier for me 😅
