I have almost the same deck on mtgo. I recomend that you change 2 of your boon satyrs . Put nyleas bow in there, its the most leathal enchantment for this deck while poulokranos goes monstrous
Great tech, thanks for the share! I'm mainly just making decks out of what I have. Having some restrictions on cards and playing with friends is always awesome =D
Beautiful deck there I can see that beating most decks ive played against ever! Yoy also make terrific videos I only wish you had close ups on the cards since I dont know every card just by name even though ive been playing a while
I've thought pretty hard on this and decided that destructive rev is better, because its cheaper and instant and does 2 damage, while fade is slower and 3 cost.. there are not enough gods whizzing about the place as i thought there might be either. Also, end step destructive rev on esper's detention sphere to get your domri etc back is sweet!
I'm looking to build this deck but a bit more budgety, what would you recommend I do? I'm thinking not as many planeswalkers, but still some ramp and monstrous.
Hey im new to Magic: the gathering and was wondering if there is a deck I should buy ($45-$65) or purchase something already made like a toolkit. Thanks
I like devotion mechanic a lot, but green-splash red deck's are not for me. So far I have been playing mono white devotion-heroic(small part of the deck) agrro deck. I had issues with playing against control decks. I want to splash another color, but can't choose betwen black and red. what would be the best choice to splash. losing devotion is not that big deal for me. And would you do a white devotion deck for a dech dech? Thanks
If you splashed for red, you would have boros charm which is AMAZING. You would have other things like mizzium mortars and magma jet, but then you'd want to have the red white shock lands, and if you splashed for black you'd have a lot of removal. Either way they're both good to splash for, it just depends on the meta where you live.
How often do people do well in tournaments with "budget decks"? R/G is my favourite colour combination (probably because I'm a noob), but this deck is too expensive for my liking.
No because this focuses on the devotion. Green devotion to be specific. You are almost guaranteed to draw at least one Garruk, that coupled with the mad amounts of mana from nykthos... Recipe for success.
I like the deck although I play 2x Nylea God of the Hunt in place of 1x Polukranos and 1x Garruk, Caller of Beasts. I understand garruk is the fuel for the deck but I seem to always get multiple copies and I feel another threat is a little better
Drew Potvin I saw a Grixis Devotion list the other day on reddit, it was essentially a Mono-Black shell with splash of Red and Blue for things like Rakdos's Return and Ashiok. I don't know how consistent it can be though. Grixis Control simply doesn't have what other control decks have right now such as Sphinx's Rev and Supreme Verdict (Correct me if I'm wrong)
Matt Bateman Even it it's slow... i think that the combination of activating Polukranos's Monstrosity, while it's attacking, can clear allot of beefy creatures, because of the deathtouch that it gets from the bow, or wouldn't it work that way?
Zack Gibbs You're the type of person we don't need in our community... Magic is to have fun, and create decks based on what we want to create them around. Calling people noob isn't helping either of these.
***** I understand this. Maybe I was being too harsh but they are so many better decks out there, I actually made a modern version that was not too good. Nicholas, I would suggest going for a Naya Heroic deck if you want a deck that focuses on tons of counters and some lifegain.
I run a very similar deck, but I run three Nylea, God of the Hunt. Instead of Domri rade I use signal the clans because Domri rade is expensive, money expensive, and signal the clans lets you get three creature of your choice for two mana. I also side fade into antiquity for gods.
You should have bow of nylea in there just so you can attack with polorkranos and before any blockers are declared monstrosity him and death out everything with the monstrous
Some people are thinking that after reprinting remaining temples in Born of the Gods, there will be a cycle of lands with special abilities in Journey to Nyx, like in Innistrad block. Maybe there will be something similar to Wolf Run.
Isn't that a bit too much mana? Three playsets of mana dorks, Xenagos AND Nykthos, that would be enough for worldspine wurm. No, I'm suggesting putting Worldspine Wurm in here, I just think it's a BIT too much.
mine runs less low drops, and 3 ghorclan rampager. also runs 3 boarded burning earth, and an extra 2 boarded ruric thar. with that and 4 boarded mistcutter hydra i beat esper 5 out of 6 times. vs aggro i have 3 anger of the gods and 2 tie to feed. the main weakness of the deck is BWR midrange because of all the spot removal, assemble the legion, and life gain.

This is what I'm running at my FNM, very fun to play.
Do you think there is any advantage to having 'Fade Into Antiquity' over destructive revelry to remove any God threats a player may have in Theros?
I've thought pretty hard on this and decided that destructive rev is better, because its cheaper and instant and does 2 damage, while fade is slower and 3 cost.. there are not enough gods whizzing about the place as i thought there might be either. What are your thoughts on a sylvan primordial in this deck? I've been running one and I like it a lot

Could you do an update on B/U/G midrange

modern jund? standard RUG? maybe an extended deck?

No Pithing Needle for Aetherling? He's one of the biggest problems in control match ups.
when you talk about what side board cards are for might be worthsaying what youwould take out for them as well aswhat they are used for
Whats the ultimate on xenagos?
Think I'm going to try this at FNM with 1 less Ruric Thar and adding a Primeval Bounty. It makes every mana dork come with a 3/3 beast companion.
No stormbreath?
No because this focuses on the devotion. Green devotion to be specific.

Oh okay
wouldn't ogre battle driver be better than the hammer of porphourous if not could someone please explain
ok thanks just not sure why you would not take a creature with a good ability over a artifact thanks
Where do you get the card sleeves?
I like the deck although I play 2x Nylea God of the Hunt in place of 1x Polukranos and 1x Garruk, Caller of Beasts. I understand garruk is the fuel for the deck but I seem to always get multiple copies and I feel another threat is a little better
you should do some gameplay for the decks that you make, just so that we can see how they work.
when are you going to make a deck tech on grixis control?
I can't see what grixis control would consist of right now.
Drew Potvin I saw a Grixis Devotion list the other day on reddit, it was essentially a Mono-Black shell with splash of Red and Blue for things like Rakdos's Return and Ashiok. Would Bow of Nylea work in the sideboard as well with Hammer of Purphoros?
no. it's too slow. also the hammer shouldn't be there either.
Matt Bateman Even it it's slow... i think that the combination of activating Polukranos's Monstrosity, while it's attacking, can clear allot of beefy creatures, because of the deathtouch that it gets from the bow, or wouldn't it work that way?
llflory Yes it would work, because Deathtouch also applies with Noncombat damage.
I would have thought Scavenging Ooze should have been there, Boon Satyr an interesting choice for sure
Can you make a green/white deck based around voracious wurm
Who plays that? lol noob.

Naya Tokens maybe?
Please make a R/G Midrange Dech Tech, besides this R/G "combo deck". thank you and more power!
I run Fanatic of Xenagos instead of Boon Satyr
the only issue with this deck is that with all that mana is therechould be more to do with it like garrucks horde and maybe gruul war chant
fuck no. unplayable cards.
Charles Travesty garruk's horde is pretty good, but gruul warchant not so much
i wish i can make this unfortunately some assholes stole some of these from me
You should have bow of nylea in there just so you can attack with polorkranos and before any blockers are declared monstrosity him and death out everything with the monstrous
If only wolf run was still around :)
Some people are thinking that after reprinting remaining temples in Born of the Gods, there will be a cycle of lands with special abilities in Journey to Nyx, like in Innistrad block. Maybe there will be something similar to Wolf Run.
And ps. Your damn right I'm a noob. I don't know every card out there. So thank you for noticing :)
Pretty sure red green plansewalkers fits this deck better.

modern elves
this version loses so hard to elspeth. With no trample, you lose.
mine runs less low drops, and 3 ghorclan rampager. also runs 3 boarded burning earth, and an extra 2 boarded ruric thar. with that and 4 boarded mistcutter hydra i beat esper 5 out of 6 times. vs aggro i have 3 anger of the gods and 2 tie to feed. the main weakness of the deck is BWR midrange because of all the spot removal, assemble the legion, and life gain.
Matt Bateman Mine runs 2 Nylea, God of the Hunt. You can also run Skarrg Guildmage. I think The guildmage is the best card against esper
best card against esper is burning earth. that along with ruric thar and mistcutter make the deck extremely hard to deal with.
