Please note that I’m a folk musician and fiddler, and I don’t consider myself a classical violinist. In my experience of the folk tradition, techniques tend to be somewhat informal, variable, and flexible, so take what I say with a grain of salt :) My thoughts on fiddling are based on my own personal musical experience. If my students read music I have them draw a slur over each bar line as a starting place and practice that.
