This is so, so great. I have to OWN this. I looked at available bootlegs of AV&O types but they didn't provide songfests so???? These songs I've loved in their known versions. Then--- to hear these strange, fresh, wonderful, completely different versions!!! So much more to love! So much more to understand about the dynamics of a band at their finest. If I owned this it would be on permanent rotation.
I feel you 😮my friend.I also want to drown in the music of the Stones.48 hours in a row only their music, play with them on any instrument available and driñn some beers ,smoke something and chill🤘👍😎☠️❤️🔥😃😝⚽🏴
Die Alternativen und die Outtakes sind das beste was die Stones eingespielt haben . Schade das es erst die letzten Jahre zu hören ist . It' s only .............but we like it .
Drift Away is the best version of this song. FACT. The others verions don't move me. Memo From Turner is a great Rock and Roll songs. A couple years ahead of it's time. Early Shine a Light is a work in progress obviously. Still a cool take. Probably from 69 or so. Released as Shine a Light in 1972 on Exile. A few got erased as I was listening. Beast of Burden is a good song. Still a work in progress, but sounds like it was ready to master it.
Hard to believe that "Drift Away" isn't a Stones original as it is musically, vocally and thematically very mid 70s Stones. Sorry Dobie Gray but this seems to me to be the definitive version of this great tune. Superb rocking guitars really add to the song that wasn't on the original.
@@scotthamel7385 Mentor Ralph Williams was an American songwriter and producer. He is best known for writing "Drift Away", a song first performed by John Henry Kurtz in 1972 and popularized by Dobie Gray circa 1973. The Stones did a superlative cover, not released.
Pictured is the Rolling Stones pinball machine. I played it extensively in '81. Would love to see a photo of the playing surface, including the "Satisfaction" target that was on the upper left.
The Stones had at least 2 pinball machines. This one shown has reportedly only 700 made. In production from 1980 to 1985. The Bally Co. was supposed to release 5,700 units. A very rare machine indeed if this is to hold true. Bill Wyman sold his machine not to long ago for $7,680. It was on a wall display at his Sticky Fingers Restaurant in the U. K. The Stern Co released a machine in 2011. I’d prefer this older one. I played (1980) emotional rescue version once a long time ago.
The 3rd track, A Line On You, sounds like it's an alternate or early version of Shine A Light from Exile On Main Street. Loved the alternate takes of We Had It All and Beast of Burden.
This WAS on a bootleg! I’ve had it for close to 30 years. It’s called something like Tropical Disease or something like that. Exact same set list. I knew right away when I saw Drift Away. I sold a ton of them back in the day. It’s one of the favorites of collectors.
Wow, Most of tha alternates Stones-maniacs would buy too. Would be a big Deal for tha Stones, Double... But wouldn't care, 'cause for me tha Stones like medicine, call me Stones -junkie! Aaron
Well, never heard outtakes from the Beatles or any others thrilling me (exept ERIC BURDON74/75)! STONES are so AWESOME GREAT! Kindly regards from aaron, berlin-city, germany
It most certainly does NOT !!! 🤣🥳 'Exile' track is one of the hottest rockers ever committed to vinyl !!! This early version is just ok as a starting point!
They obviously got Your Angel Steps Out of Heaven from Gram Parsons. Gram/Emmylou's version is much better, is that even Mick singing? Gram must have gotten it from George Jones.
The greatest mistake the Stones ever made was not doing WHATEVER IT TOOK, to keep Mick Taylor in the band. For starters, they could have PAID him. He was given no credits on SEVERAL albums---in other words, no residuals. In addition, his mates should have helped him with drug addiction and got him the help he needed to stay with the band. They did not... With all due respect to Keith Richards---on Mick Taylor's WORSE DAY, Keef couldn't hold a candle to him. Make no mistake, Keith Richards is a very good guitarist. Mick Taylor is a GREAT guitarist. A guitar genius. Right up there with Hendrix, Clapton, and Santana. No doubt about it. The five albums he produced with the Stones from '69-'74 are all classics. The band was never the same after 1974.
They didn't want him to leave but he sprang it on them with little warning. His mind was strongly made up & didn't he give the main reason ,his heroin problem, until years later.
'Drift Away' is a Mentor Williams song which was a hit for Dobie Gray '73. Stones version was made for Only Rock n Roll but didn't make the album. Maybe you're thinking of Jagger's 'Hide Away' on Goddess !! Sheesh... 😄
Fantastic outtakes that I’ve never heard before!
Fantastic 'Plundered My Soul' finally released on 'Exile' re-release !!
20/10/2023 Today is the day! The Rolling Stones great new album "HACNEY DIAMONDS". 😊✌😎 STONES FOREVER
Peace, love, hope to our world! ❤
Ok para siempre

True, but also what the guitars are doing is quite close to the Waylon Jennings version of the song. Check that out too.
@@zilefn9212 didn't know Waylon even did a version. Who wrote the damn thing?
Yo. I agree this much grooving guitars and Charlie

How 'I don't know why' never made a Stones album is beyond me... Great song!
Me encantan estos outtakes que compartis 🤜🏻🤛🏻💪🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Uruguay!!!!!
Great Outtakes.
Pictured is the Rolling Stones pinball machine. I played it extensively in '81. Would love to see a photo of the playing surface, including the "Satisfaction" target that was on the upper left.
I also remember playing it - once. It didn't seem to be in many of the dens of iniquity that I often frequented.
Good times with The Stones ever! ✌😎

I wouldn't like to start again an old war, but all of this is way better than the "new" Beatles song ;-)

This all down line feels different from the songs in the album. Thank you for your precious sound source.
great version! I like it much better!

Mick Taylor brought the Southern Rock with Country music to the Stones. Back in 72. They went to Muscle Shoals Alabama. Taylor found it. Adios

His mind was strongly made up & didn't he give the main reason ,his heroin problem, until years later.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!!
