First, you NEVER, EVER hit an animal in the face/nose. It is very disrespectful in animal language and it can be quite painful. When you hit an animal the face, it encourages aggression. Because the natural instinct is to come back at their atracker. She looks to be about 2 years old to me. You are lucky she did not return your slap with a bite. She has likely been hit and beaten before and lacks the confidence to bite. But you would be wise to stop bullying her. Second, physically abusing an animal shows you are not an intelligent person. There are so many ways you could have handled that situation. First and foremost understanding that she is a monkey and she will investigate everything by putting it in her mouth. It's her nature, it's instinctual. So do not give her anything that you value and don't want chewed on. How hard is that? Third, you followed that little display with 1:16, you encouraged her to come to you then pushed her away hard enough to make her fall backwards. All over that plastic box again. Look at her face 1:18-1:22. She feels betrayed. This is not how you build trust and respect with an animal. Each time you do that reduces your chances of making that up to her. At some point, trust will be completely broken. If you do not tave patience with this monkey, take her a rescue where she will be cared for properly.

@pattykelly6621 you're obviously CLUELESS if you're trying to suggest that you can discipline this animal within physical force. Look what their mothers do to them in the wild. Why is it that all of you monkey loving hypochondriacs are so clueless about these things? You wrote practically a book and it's ALL GIBBERISH because you are clueless as to what you're talking about when it comes to macaques.
It is unlikely that she will read everything you have written. the level of culture and education of these people is below average. For them, a monkey is not a living being, but a thing. a toy. and the appeal is appropriate.
First, she barely touched her. It didn't hurt and she got her point across. You say she lacks the confidence to bite....GOOD! This is a pet. If the owner doesn't show she's the alpha, that monkey will run all over her and become dangerous. Look at Dalton. Stop acting like you know what she should be doing. She has the f*cking monkey, not you. Just like a mom with a child, she knows what works best for her and Luna. Not you. She's teaching her what she can and can't do. Not you. Teaching her boundaries is NOT a form of abuse.

She gnawed on the edge of that plastic box. The woman acts like it's a family treasure. I'm sure this is not the only time she has hit her monkeys. She just hit Nuna hard enough that we could here the slap, then followed up with 3 more that almost knocked her down. That is a look of betrayal on Nuna's face. Then 4 or 5 more swats. Then pushed her so hard Nuna did fall over backward.
