Today we will show you one method of using live bait from the beach. Hopefully we can help any struggling fisherman learn how to start landing bigger fish.

    Storytime....My first time fishing in North Carolina , I was fishing at a marina in hatteras and caught a red drum, I thought it was huge, biggest fish I had ever caught, 28 inches and pretty fat , didn’t get a weight... we also caught some croaker and a flounder that we had for dinner that night, after eating my flounder I ran down to the beach at around 10pm and threw half a croaker out on an 11/0 hook just for fun and ended up landing my first shark ever it was about 3.5 feet long , all in the same day. It was an amazing experience for me because I’d gone to hatteras every summer but never gone fishing until in one day I had the best day of my fishing career

      bucketsof lead thank you bro. Headed to a pier and caught some baitfish and got a skate on live bait and while trying to catch baitfish (12lb leader) I forgot I had light leader when a big fish started to scream drag... started tightening down and I broke my leader :/ soon through a kroaker head out and an hour later I got hit. Had an hour and a half long fight with a +150lb ray. Absolutely massive and wouldn’t fit in the pier net. When those things stick to the ground in the middle of the fight it is incredibly hard to pull them up. Caught on a 4500 spin fisher with 30lb braid. 3/0 circle hook 40lb mono leader and a ugly stick tiger lite rod

    I also like a Carolina rig. It does not hold your bait in one area like a pyramid sinker but lets the bait move about more. Both methods work well. I enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work.

    Another good video guys. One small suggestion tho, learn to cast. With a setup like what your using you should be able to cast 100 yards minimum. All beach fisherman need to watch UK carp fishing videos and learn how to actually cast.

    • @FoxTenson
      @FoxTenson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know the beach he is fishing, but a very common mistake beach fisherman make is thinking distance equals fish. This is not always the case. Being able to cast far is not the end all be all. Being able to read the beach and know your spot is more important. Where I fish from the beach, at high tide there is a trough 6 inches from the water's edge, with a 12 foot sandbar...a much larger trough, then a second sandbar. At low tide you can walk to the edge of the second sandbar to cast.
      In this case, high tide pompano and blues, as well as other fish..run the shallow trough for bait, retreating to the middle trough as the tide starts to slack. Casting 100 yards won't help at all in this situation, as you will be on the second bad and not where the fish are. Most important tip is to learn the beach you fish, watch for changes in depth with wave action, and cast to hotspots. If your beach is long casting to reach the best spots, long cast, but many, many beaches change hotspots with the tide, and thus casting distance.
      To give an idea, I caught 12 pompano, a couple dozen bluefish, and over 50 whiting only casting 6 inches from the shoreline during a full moon high tide. Learn to cast far if you need it and when you need it, but learn the beach first and foremost to catch fish.

    Good tutorial. Great fun vids! One comment, lesson especially for beginners. I see you do it but not narrate on it. You keep a touch on the spool as the braid is going out and as you walk back to the beach. We do it to keep the birds nests away? You might mention this for the rookies...save them some frustration.

    You need to use wire leader of at least 30lbs to land a toothy fish
    Your hook is also too small, a size 6/0 or more is recommended
    Also use smaller baitfish. Using big baitfish wont always mean bigger fish
    Try to use baitfish of around 4 inch with a big hook not too big tho
    I have landed barracudas and cobias on small baitfish
    Cheers and fish on :)
