one trick for palatal anesthesia from old DT is using cold spray on a cotton swab. i practice without a DA, but when i have a DA near me i spray endo cold spray 2-3 seconds on a cotton swab, than the DA apply it on the injection site for 2-3 seconds (but not for a long time because it may cause necrosis- i think- of the palate), swap the swab with my needle and inject slowly a few drops a the site of the cotton wab contact with the palate. sometimes works perfectly but it's not a 100% technique. thank you for this video. hot tooth part was gold!
Great question about the articaine/lidocaine armementarium. Regarding the hot pulp, I learned some really great tips from Ammar Al Hourani for managing this. Once you have got as far as the pulp chamber, shove in some topical lidocaine on a CWP and leave it for a few minutes. This is 30% so it is stronger and in my experience has worked a lot better than trying to inject directly into the canals which probably washes straight out. Another great episode! Thanks Jaz and Dr George. - Michael Orlans
I'm from north Africa and I discovered your channel only few months ago, and i just want to tell you that you're so good at what you're doing, so keep doing it. Such a great host ! You invite incredible gests, encourage them to develop and share their ideas, good listener, always gives a breif recap on the important points the guest touches on, also ask great questions that come up to my mind when listening! I always learn new things in each episode that help me improve my practice. so thank YOU and all the amazing guests for sharing valuable knowledge.
thanks for the kind comment Brendon! With all the doom and gloom I still believe there has never been a better time than now to be a Dentist who is hungry for knowledge and who wants to do good Dentistry 😁🙌
I've got a question regarding intrapulpal injections. If it comes down to the pressure itself and not the anesthetic in those cases, why do we inject anesthetic and not just water/saline/any irrigant fluid and use the pressure from that liquid? 😁
Haha the part about dad can't cope.with heat in India, exactly the same my dad can't spend more than 3 weeks in India haha. And the get things done now haha
Thanks jaz for making such useful podcasts. You cover things that are not available in books and that comes with experience shared be seniors

excellent point! I guess in my mind: intrapulpal injections hurt. If the pressure doesn't get it, I am praying the LA will help in some way!
Jaz G thankyou for these amazing podcasts. Hopefully one day we may be able to do one together ❤. God bless you
