Longy is a great squad player, defo give him an extension as you know what you get with him and move him on for money at a later date
When Darren Eales kept quiet the fans get uneasy but when Mitchell gave us transparency the fans go crazy. I blame the media, cant win.

Pope is a better keeper in every aspect apart from distribution.
Longstaffs usefull for now so renew...rare he gets injured too. Could he improve? possibly, if he does improve his a permanent keeper as a squad player.
Personally think Pope is better than Pickford in every aspect shot stopping catching crosses commanding his penalty area etc he also has a massivr height advantage for catching crosses and reaching shots at goal. The only area Pickford is better at is playing out from the back using his feet
I remember James Perch, do you ? He, like Longstaff was called a journeyman back then but his heart was all nufc's , he ended up being our Perchinio . We need a percentage of locals for when (not if) we get back into Europe .
As much as i hate the mackems i agree with Paul would love to see the derby back in the prem next season as long as Sunderland finish every season 4th from bottom of the league. Even if Man City got a 70 point deduction they could still stay up as they get nearly 100 points every season and would have stayed up with only 27 points last season so even with a 70 point deduction could have stayed up with 97 points. They won the league last year with 91 and werent as good as they have been in previous years. Personally think the prem will bottle it as they wouldnt want to see them relegated and if City do lose their court case would only get a 40/50 point deduction at the most anyway

Id love to hear someone admit the truth. Longstaff is getting these ratings bc everyone isnt grading him against the average or mean EPL player. You guys, save for Alex have been grading him against what you think Tonali would do. If he was from anywhere else, hed play for most smaller national teams. But bc hes homegrown, hell never get the love of a shiny new thing. I thought after last seasons ratings debacle that there would be some measuring of comments.
Disagree, I grade him on each individual match and not comparing him to Tonali. There's no comparison between the two anyway.
As a lifelong GK...please believe me. Overall Pickford is better. But...there's such a massive bias. Look at how many players we've been linked with and ppl say "nooooooo" bc of where they come from
I love my Pope but I won't be biased. Pickford is England #1 for a very very good reason. I know many of you think Pope is better but doing a proper analysis 🙈 Both shot stoppers - Both have good replflexes - Pickford is more comfortable coming out, distribution and ball on his feet. Don't take my word for it...look it up.

Longstaff should get a new contract but maybe just a two year contract extension
If Longstaff is valuable because he’s a workhorse, the MLS is filled with cheaper workhorses. If Longstaff were valuable for his skill, there wouldn’t be any debate
Longstaff is an honest and hard working professional, he is limited we all know that, he's a no longer a regular first team regular with Tonali now up and about, but he's ideal for cover or when we've got games in early cup games, depending on the opposition., he appears to scapegoat when things go wrong., replacing him will cost more than we will get in for Sean. We are still trying to get rid of Ashley deadwood, and the mess with FPP or PSR. He'd fit into a Forest, mid table team.
A club trained player who can be a reliable squad player long term? New contract is a no brainer.

Longstaff has been poor for a long time the 4th place was his miggy purple patch. If we didn't have PSR then I don't think we have this conversation he's not good enough to start he wouldn't be here. Promote the youth and see him gone.
If we beat Fulham this weekend and City and Arsenal draw, we'll be top of the league right? Or is it just my bad maths?
I think If city are guilty, think the best thing is to give them a 20 point deduction each season for the next five years. That would almost certainly stop them winning any league titles for next five years.
Yes, Longstaff is poor at the moment. That doesn't mean he is not Premier league quality. People quickly forget the goals he score to get us Champions league and scoring as well. If you can't see why Eddie relies on him, then you don't know anything about tactice 🙈
Don't get me wrong, we have better quality but Sean is a very good squad member to have. Just because we have Tonali, Joe and Bruno doesn't mean we should sell him.

Something to consider. U guys as a show were embarrassed last season when u saw his avg rating at seasons end. And then look at the scores he got over the weekend. I've been saying "fans" are becoming like Man U fans how many times in comments? Well said Alex.
I think that Andrew Musgrove and Aaron Stokes said it best. It's become "trendy" to blame Longstaff. Ppl made him the #1 blame for a goal off of 1 pass he made. We complain players don't try things from outside of the box. He tries something. It doesn't work. He gets 2 ratings. That's shocking. I checked ratings on 16 sites. Not one had him below a 5. It's my opinion that he's being graded against a curve here that's higher than literally the entire rest of the football world. That includes stat websites down to the Chronicle and True Faith. I've been beating this drum for a while.

Definitely let Longstaff go. Will do the wage bill the world of good. Gets way too much protection from happy clappers and hosts because he’s a geordie.
I would love to know what goes through Tonalis mind when you have been Ac Milan captain, the superstar for Italy destroying France and then you can't get into a team ahead of Longstaff who can't pass a ball 5 yards. Bruno andbIsak must be getting fed up of it they all look much happier when Barnes and Tonali are on the putch

I genuinely don’t think Pickford is good. His alleged good kicking of the ball is non existent, he just gives the ball to the opposition defenders and GK. Give me Nick Pope any time.

Kuol was always a punt to nothing, i live in Australia, he never played regular at his Aussies club, made his reputation with a 20 minute substitute appearance, against Barcelona. He's does not have the physicality or robustness to cope with the PL , his languid style does not help. Expect him to be heading back to the A league, which is standard, another Aussie with the curse of the next Harry Kewell
