Sounds really good. It’s amazing that after several centuries of drums, that a pillow is still as far as we’ve advanced in the art of muffling.

Oh there are other drum company endorsed methods…… but £3.99 for a pillow is by far the cheapest.

This is awesome and nuts at the same time.
It’s thanks to your advice from one of the Wednesday livestreams that I have 3 kick drum mics myself: a Shure Beta 52A right up inside opposite the beater, a Sontronics DM-1B just poking halfway into the port, and then a JZ V-47 around 6 inches from the reso head. In my mind they each give me attack, body and tone - and they sound great blended together.
I was very sceptical about the Shure when I already had 2 mics but it added so much to the overall sound.
I’m not going for the subby super lows but that’s a very interesting flavour indeed. Also, your V67 sounds wonderful there!

I’m glad you like it and that you have your own spin on my tried and tested technique.

Boom.....great demo mate. My default for Live is always a Beta 91 internal and a D6 or B52. However might give that JZ a go in the coming months.Nice work pal. 👍

That JZ is a great mic on so many things not just kick drum.
