This is a great summary of the issue. Scheduling was never the problem, its the trustworthiness of the result. Doesn't matter if it can do something at 9 am every day if what it does is garbage and fantasy.
yes this does look like the starting line for the ' Agentic Phase', it seems OpenAI is purposefully starting with an application that's simple, familiar and useful to get the Market interested👍🏽👍🏽
I’d like to see a two-step task feature, such as: Step 1: Check the weather every Wednesday at 8:00 AM, and if it’s sunny, Step 2: List available basketball courts near my address for 7:00 PM. Of course, adding multi-step tasks would be an amazing enhancement!🎉
Now what :) ? --- Me: I have asked you to do schedued tasks for me. How can I see this list? ChatGPT: Currently, I don’t have a way to display a consolidated list of all the tasks that you’ve asked me to schedule. If you remember specific tasks you’ve set, I can confirm whether I have them recorded, but I can’t produce a complete, formatted list of everything at once. P.S. AHA! Got it! There's this new pane "Tasks" under your portrait, where you can see all scheduled stuff :)
I just figured out it's best to put each in their own chat. Don't do multiple tasks in the same chat. Maybe in a year you want it to output the conversation and it would be cleaner.
To me, without push notifications, It's a hot air balloon without the hot air. Notifications via email is like trying to get someone's attention across a busy street at Times Square.
Pretty cool. My newsletters are getting filled with ads. Hello superhuman. So I’ll gather the topics of all and create a newsletter to come everyday in the morning.
This is what I'll write, you can modify these templates to fit what you want, maybe instead of 24 hours you can add past week, etc. Select the option with "tasks" on it and write then on the message box and click enter. Templates: AI News and Trends Task: Search for the latest accurate and verified developments in AI from the past 24 hours, including notable industry news, emerging trends, major advancements, thought-provoking industry quotes, and noteworthy tools. AI Tools and Applications Task: Identify the most useful and innovative AI tools released or updated in the past 24 hours, focusing on their applications, user-friendly features, and industry impact. Include emerging use cases and practical tips for implementation. AI in Business Task: Research the latest ways companies are integrating AI into their operations from the past 24 hours, including case studies, successful strategies, and insights on ROI. Highlight trends in AI adoption across industries and share expert opinions.

i want the information directly in the context/chat window. i don't want to open emails or click on links. let's wait and see, so the introduction is cool, but impractical for me
Can it send push notifications now? I try to look at my email inbox as infrequently as possible. I imagine something like this will be coming pretty soon to Gemini, with some better Android integration, through the Gemini mobile app/assistant.
This is pretty much already doable with gpt + automation (zapper or make), but I guess this takes out some extra steps, but the use case in regards to automation would just be super limited compared to Make (which is what I use), but please let me know if I am missing the bigger picture or if there is something else that is included new that isn't already on the market
Yep. This is flattening out the learning curve and making it easy to access to Siri or people already comfortable in chat gpt who don’t know about making automations.
But I literally asked if it could remind me of something in 3 days and it said it doesn’t have an internal clock and can’t track the passage of time. I know it’s in beta but someone needs to tell ChatGPT Tasks that it can do that
Besides the push notifications/desktop notifications (the most useful feature of all of this!) not working, I also notice that it has removed my custom instructions across the web interface and apps. I try to fill them back in and they dissapear next time I open them. I think this is a UI bug, but man, this release has been buggy!
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. A little humor there…
This is beyond boring, sorry. I don't use GPT enough to the point that it needs automated tasks. It's not an email-level daily life tool yet. I feel like they're trying to use Elon Musk's social tactic by trying to be constantly in the public sphere, at least online, in hopes that it generates enough attention to help maintain/build even more funding. I guess if it works it works, but this has to be the lamest one so far right before Canvas.
get the weather, send workouts, buying filters?!? All everyone wants is to for their GPT-Girl to proactivly speak to him with voice during random hours of the day
My email inbox is already cluttered with notifications. I hope they figure out push notifications directly to your app soon
OpenAI's latest innovation...Cron jobs! 😂
Ok, that made me chuckle.
The miracle of AGI is around the corner now!

That's essentially an automation sequence. I'm sure you could use the api and accomplish this now with zapier or another service
Chatgpt 4o isn't connected to the internet, so I'm struggling to understand how it would be able to fetch the weather...
@@JonPeroutka But it is connected to the internet. See the "search the web" feature ... the globe icon in the typing pane.

That task oversight is buggy af for me. Keeps crashing

Thanks for your time

it forces to think more programmatically about it. good thinking to start with a simple alerts syntax

Quantos tokens consome um ele ficar pesquisando ? Colocar de uma é uma hora pode chegar no limite de tokens por dia por exemplo
Thank You
I'm not seeing the three dots to modify the task nor can I click on the task to open up options to edit...what am I doing wrong
Hit your PROFILE picture in top right corner, options will drop down.
Tell me please, did you record the video in Meld studio? Did you do smooth zoom during editing? Thank you)
Better option is to use OBS to record screen. Use da Vinci resolve to edit and use Mr Alex Tech's magic zoom to do smooth zooms
Love it

love this feature, but still has some bugs

You are getting sleepy. You are no longer a cat. You are a bagel.
does not look like an AI feature, just a simple scheduler
It also does what you ask it to do, at those times.
Its not a simple scheduler because you cant ask a simple scheduler for the news and to remind you and the weather and so on…
Yes, so I think what is does is schedule when a command is to be run. It seems like just an application using chat gpt, not exactly a new AI feature
Voice is too low.
we dont need this we need more tokens
OpenAI think everything they do is awesome- guess they never heard of minor releases ..
Hardly worth making a video. Tasks is lame.
