This is my favorite Dixieland jazz song. I really wish MORE older jazz songs like this were performed in my country. Getting to play "Jazz Me Blues" with my university's auditioned jazz band was a great honor, but sadly that was the only older one. The other charts we did there were amazing and challenging (even for myself, the baritone saxophonist), but a bit modern for my liking. More younger people like these amazing kids (as they were then) need to learn about how awesome these older songs really are.
so great this, seeing all this kids before they were "famous" ...to see what they became and are becomming, just look at this...and look at how Joan pushes the beat...beauty.
This material is older than the majority of the performers. It is good to see the young people playing a style of music that dates from the early period period of jazz. Congrats Joan.
Just found this band!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!! What a group of very talented kids AND a director that evidently loves working with them. Gonna pass on this find to some of my musician friends...Thanks for sharing this great group with us.... KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE!!!
Magnificent. One of the first jazz standards I ever heard back in 1958 with The Sutton Chicago Jazz Band. Timing perfect for jiving. This is a trumpet special and Victor's piercing clarity plus Alba's vibrato backed up by Marcal's clarinet swooping around the melody line and great to hear Esteve Pi has competition coming through with Ivan. I have just spent two happy days playing and replaying the best DVD value ever. 5 dvd package Kids and Music plus Jazzing4 every jazz lover should buy it. Sant Andreu Jazz band is magic
this took place in 2012. find Victor Carrascosa now (boy who plays trumpet) by looking up The Elder, by sant andreu jazz band find Alba Armengou (girl who plays trumpet) by looking up Triste, by sant andreu jazz band. to find her playing trumpet, look up L'il Darling, by sant andreu jazz band find Alba Esteban (saprano sax) by looking up I Cried For You, by sant andreu jazz band. (she still plays sax, just not in that video) find Marcal Perramon (clarinet) by looking up Recado Bossa Nova, by sant andreu jazz band. this also has Victor Carrascosa in it Max Tato, (trombone) is still with the band, although im not sure if there are any with him up in front.
Alba Armengou is great at the trumpet, singing or playing sax. She was my point of entry into the Sant Andreu Jazz Band world - hooked me at the first video.
You do an amazing job Joan. Absolutely FANTASTIC. Such an inspiration. Keep going and you should get a Nobel Prize for Peace and Harmony. All good wishes.
just love Victor's horn playing. and Marcal? has that soft sweet tone that Prez's clarinet had. not sharp or hard on the ears as some clarinet can be. the whole band is phenom....
Molt bé nanos! Trempera musical. Cuideu-vos i endevant. No problem. Molt bé. - Trombó, clarinet, trompeta, sopranino. Ah un baríton amb molta trempera, pro aquest ja es veterà. Perfecte fills meus com diria el Xicu Cla de Cassà de la Selva. Gran music i persona.
@@art-oq1pi Bruh, Every single one of those kids are very talented musicians and to be honest you cant really have an opinion on someones skill when you uploaded a video about a fortnite dance.
And kudos to the baritone sax playing off the great Adrian Rollini who’d be remembered more than he is except that the incomparable Bix was on another plane altogether. Yes, these kids deserve credit for paying honor to immortal music.
I think it just suddenly reached a new level in the TH-cam algorithm and popped up in a bunch of different people's feeds, because they popped up in mine last week, and I've noticed a ton of new comments from the past month or so on most of their videos that I've watched. I'm hooked on them, too. I listen to Andrea Motis' newest album on Spotify at work, and I have been wandering through all these videos in my free time. These kids are amazing; Joan Chamorro has done a wonderful thing here!
The guests Scott Robinson and Ricard Gili (who I already saw performing in concerts with his legendary group "La Locomotora Negra" more than 40 years ago) were excellent. And very well the kids of the mini-orchestra, all of them converted 10 years later into great jazz professionals, some like Alba Armengou already known internationally. Well, everyone except Iván Cervantes, the drummer with the hat, who was also going to be a figure but many years ago he completely lost track of it, seems that he abandoned music. A pity.
I don't know what inspired Joan C. to set up these big band or the Spanish authorites that issue the grants to finance the development of these young talents...i m just glad that it happen. They are such a joy to listen to.

Exelentes músicos y director.
This blows me away been a musician close to 40 years and no way I can come close to theses kids it's insane
The little ones have got jazz following in their veins like the older players. Incredible!
These are very talented professional musicians living in little bodies............. I cannot get enough of Joan's kids Thanks for posting

Joan Chamorro...great teacher and musical director!

Yes, the song predates everyone on that very stage!
Holy Cow! I taught High school music for 41 years. NEVER saw kids this young this good. WHO IS that girl trumpet? She so gets it!!!! Who ARE these!
Alba Armengou
If you want to see how she sounds, 8 years later: th-cam.com/video/3xmkhPNOfC8/w-d-xo.html

What can I add? These kids do a great job with this old jazz tune. This should get you up to dance.
I love the tenor banjo, Bravo Carla!
What fun! You, your young people and older folk have effectively translated Dixieland Jazz into Spanish. Love it!
Puts the nicest smile on my face song in my heart keep on keeping on
