so much happened in that intro😭 mya humming the star wars song, connor dramatically rising up into the camera only to yell in our face & then trip on the way back to his seat😭
yall that’s was my suggestion 🎉 lol i got signed out of my other account so that’s why im not writing this on the other one lol and thank you so much for picking my suggestion, this made my day
This is actually the only podcast i genuinely wait for each thursday because i know i have something good and to watch or listen. Its the only podcast i fully listen to with so much pleasure,
This podcast is actually the one that makes 45 minutes feel the fastest, ever. After the four segments I'm like "that was a fun 10 minutes already" and then it's over.
World's Biggest Rebounds - animals that have recovered from endangered status. eg Osprey/bald eagles/other birds after banning DDT. some feel goods about how we have and can change things. love the show!
I totally nerded out on the mantis shrimp portion. They hold the World Record for fastest punch on earth and limb movement, and they can win a fight with an octopus in seconds. Love those lil guys!!!
World's Nerdiest / World's Best Alchemists- Animals that use cool chemical reactions to create explosion, lights or sounds or do any other complex things like the Bombardier Beetle, Angler fish or Firefly.
y'all should do a "corrections and additions" segment for previous episodes, like two weeks before the current. Because there are a lot of really cool and relevant facts that are misstated or omitted.
my favorite thing about being a day one listener is that I am equipped with so many animal facts that can send the people around me into an existential crisis
I friggin love Connor so much.. he makes me laugh every single episode. Also, I'm so happy they talked about Hognose snakes.. they are so cute with their little shovel faces, and PLEASE don't harass them in the wild, in order for them to do that display, they have to be terrified, that is very stressful to them. 🐍❤most people who have them as pets love them and would never scare them on purpose, that's awful.
I'm curious why he says to keep them out of the pet trade though? As far as I know, there's plenty being born in captivity that it's very rare to find one that's wild-caught in the trade. Responsible reptile keepers shouldn't be chastised and restricted because irresponsible keepers and breeders who overproduce give us all a bad wrap.
@@joesjoes20 idk why but maya and connor are the only animal youtubers ive seen that seem to think owning any reptile is bad. No self respecting reptile keeper buys wild caught animals, thats like one of the first things you learn. There are tons of captive bred animals that are healthy and fine. A good breeder breeding for harmless color morphs also isnt an issue to me, all of the babies find homes as pets and harmful genes are avoided. Maybe im the only person who obsessively watched and read snake care guides as a kid but I feel like they dont know a lot about the hobby
A note at 33:30: Saying the speed is the same as a .22 is misleading, it's the acceleration that is roughly the same as a 22-calier bullet. This does mean that upon being fired, once the round is the distance of a mantis shrimps arm away from where it started it will be going ~51mph, but it will continue to accelerate and reach a top speed of 700-900 mph. So being punched by a mantis shrimp is not nearly as bad as being shot by a .22!
37:52 There are three genera with twelve recognised species, spread across the three genera. Hognose snakes of the genus Leioheterodon, of Madagascar are in a family Pseudoxyrhophiidae (Pseudoxyrhophiids). Hognose snakes of the genus Heterodon and Lystrophis, of the Americas are in the family Colubridae (Colubrids). So the Hognoses from the Americas and Madagascar, aren't closely related but share the same common name based on shared traits (convergent evolution), of a snub nose, same typical diet, both being rear fang mild venom.
Those mantis shrimp were beautiful and RGB but they are a close second from whatever the flamboyant cuttlefish. This dude has colorful patterns that move around on its body and they can change their shape a bit which is also dope.
Yes a another episode and here is some more ideas for new episodes World's Longest - Current or now extinct longer animals World's Sporty - Animals who have a history of playing sports or games in the wild World's Heavy Eaters - Animals who can eat large amounts of food during one day World's Best Voice (Singers) - Animals with who actually sing for different reasons World's Best Climbers - Animals who extreme levels of climbing World’s Worse Hunters - Animals who have strange, weird and bad hunting techniques World’s Best Dancers - Animals who actually dance for many reasons plus it’s fun World’s Deepest Sleepers - Animals who can sleep for extreme lengths and even staying sleep during loud noise World’s Underdogs - Animals who survive against all odds or live tough environments and just being underdogs Plus again sharing my thoughts on Timber and Nilla rest in peace
I work at a fish store and we get both the mantis shrimp and the electric eels, we had the E. Varii and they were only about a foot long and the owner and I touched it to show the other workers they won’t kill you if you don’t threaten it and they do indeed have a shock to them but it’s over very quick, very comparable to a small taser
34:00 these are called cavitation bubbles, and it is the vacuum created by the object moving so fast that the water can't collapse on the place it was fast enough. The heat comes from the collapse of the vacuum pressure bubble, and can produce temperatures nearly* as hot as the surface of the sun at 4000 Celsius or 7232 Fahrenheit.
9:32 Although Eels aren't typically referred to as fish in day to day language, true Eels genus Anguilla (Eel) and all its closely related Eel-like relatives that are colloquially called Eels in the Order: Anguilliformes (Eel-forms) are 100% fish.
Worlds most overpowered. Ridiculous adaptations that just don't make sense. Edit: I love the episodes! It's so fun being able to tell people random bits of info about animals. I've taught my siblings so much!
Worlds most convergent! I think convergent evolution is really interesting and maybe you could make a game out of showing each other pictures of animals and trying to guess the species.
Electonics nerd here🤓. It's actually the joules (energy) from electricity that is dangerous. That is the power (watt) over a period of time (often in millisecond range). 600 Watts is a lot for your body to handle, unless it's over a very very short time.
Not an expert or my thing, but for Electric Eels, the lower resistance due to being in water would play a big part and allow the same current to be delivered more effectively with less volts. The saying 'it's the amps that kills you' is a simplification around household electronics that use less amps and higher volts to try to be less lethal, but to my understanding high amps with very low volts would also prevent current from being delivered or increasing resistance enough would also work.
36:13...It's 36,000 ft....ish... ( James Cameron actually went down there in a submarine he designed...Only two other people have visited the Marianas Trench ; they were two Navy guys ( I don't recall their names...) in the 1970's I think....
About the eels. So... The eel with 600watts for 1 second would be able to generate the same amount of energy of a 33.3mah battery (at 5 volts). Smartphone batteries are 3000 to 5000mah ish. You'll need 100 eels to have the equivalent of 1 smartphone battery. An eel equivalent battery would cost you not even 2 bucks. Most of us carry the energy of more than 100 eels around 😎
i had NO idea electric eels were actually electric! that is indeed, wild. also sent me down a wiki rabbit hole trying to understand volts and watts lol
Worlds most experimental I feel like that could be a cool one whether it be evolution related, behavior related, just anything experimental also, worlds most experimented on incredibly depressing and sad but could shed some light on the horrors of animal life for the sake of human curiosity
World's dumbest (or are they?)- an episode about animals that people think are dumb, or do something that looks dumb to us at first glance, but are actually perfectly reasonable or even smart!! There are a lot of misconceptions about animal intelligence that would be cool to hear yall talk about!
Volts and Amps- "It's the amps that kills you" is not really true, it's both, in a sense. The analogy I like best is a dam regulating the flow of a river: The volts is how high the water is rising behind the dam (Basically the "pressure" of the water- you need a bit of volts to penetrate your skin, for example), while the amps is the speed the river is flowing with. So you need both to get shocked (or flooded, in the river example): the water has to get high enough behind the dam so we get a flow that is fast enough to push you away.
30mA(milliamps) is usually referred to as the limit of current that is dangerous to humans, so a shock of 600 Volts and 1Amp is potentially fatal, In water though lot of that current does not go through you. If you would take the eel on your hands with tail in other hand and the head in other it would be fatal.
I listened to this as a podcast on spotify at 7:30 this morning, and I heard both bad words D: (/j), and I am not a patreon member lol. Guess I'm just lucky
I have a good one for worlds craziest ideas/ dumbest people. I was watching family feud when the question was “what’s an animal in the jungle that Tarzan should be afraid of?” Number one answer you ask? Lions…………………………………..
so much happened in that intro😭 mya humming the star wars song, connor dramatically rising up into the camera only to yell in our face & then trip on the way back to his seat😭
quite dramatic to be honest
I like the intro where maya says "HI WELCOMETOWORLDSWILDEST" and connor says "helo"

I'm so proud I knew this already from that time Simone Giertz had a mantis shrimp costume made for her
40:14 Maya’s reaction to Connor not knowing LPS was the same as mine lmao
0:44 please never change, Connor :D
I can't stop watching it 😂😂😂😂 thank god it was a soft sofa he faceplanted

19:54 incredible story, well written, 10/10, masterpiece.
Connors fall was LEGENDARY! 😂😂😂 Faceplanted the sofa bahahahaha amazing! And Maya only caring about her dwink 😂😂😂😂
you guys should do best moms/dads! could be a good mothers/fathers day episode :>
y'all should do a "corrections and additions" segment for previous episodes, like two weeks before the current. Because there are a lot of really cool and relevant facts that are misstated or omitted.
there's a guy on tiktok who advocates for letting the bees work their way out of the skin because they can, keeping their stinger and their lives

@@klbriceno1 I believe so, unfortunately a lot are still wild caught.

I am definitely having fun listening to you guys! I look forward to it every week :))
I like the podcast so much I'll wait until I have something really tasty to eat before watching it so I can fully enjoy the experience.

World's Most Aggressive - Animals that go out of their way to be mean or just attack other animals.
I've been trying to figure out a suggestion that gets them to talk about the chimpanzee war and this might be it.
There's so many fish that fit this description lmao

1:02 I think Maya meant to do the 2001: a Space Odyssey theme. It somehow seemed the most appropriate to me.
