For hours I've been watching brush outs from vintage girls doing wet sets, skipping the pin curling part because I wanted to try out the brush out on my natural curls, then I find your video. So there is hope. Awesome. It kinda looks like a woman in the 40's who did put some effort into her hair, but wasn't afraid to get exposed to the elements because it really didn't bother her if she wouldn't look perfect. And that just so happens to be the look I'm going for!
Oh my word this is me also!!! It only struck me tonight, why am I spending hours, drying & straightening my hair to then put vintage curls back in! I’ve let it dry naturally into my curls and then brushed it out, et voila! Perfect! 🥰🥰
It's looks beautiful. You brave girl. I have 3b hair and love vintage hair. But I could never find anyone working from natural curly. In the past I had to straighten, then semi wet set (since it would never dry), and finally brushout. The back is always hard. I stopped since I think straightening my hair was ruining it.
you can forsake still do the brush out with your natural 3b curls!!! it would look beautiful. Ive done it on my friends 3b curls and it was to die for! it would for sure look authentic as so many ladies Bach then used their natural curls!
Heck yes I thought I was the only weirdo who does this kind of stuff. I have 3A limp curls and they fall easily. I usually air dry (blow dry my fringe) with a hold product, brush, use an anti-frizz serum and some fiber gum at the end to smooth things out. It frames my face so much more nicely than my natural curls. I do it all the time and I am going to get rid of my layers to make it even easier.
I was looking for something just like this since forever!!! I knew it could be done but my first attempt was awful, didn’t think of using pins like this. Thanks!
I do something similar but it only works when you have super healthy hair, especially ends. When my hair used to be damaged it never worked l, no matter how many hair cuts I would get. But only recently, I chopped off about 3 cm (did it myself) and I feel like that was the last push to get rid of the remaining damaged ends, and now, manipulating my curls I s a breeze!
I really appreciate your video. And I enjoyed the little part of your personality we got to see in the video beside the aesthetic reminded me of many of my favorite things that bring me peace
@@Jadeikens my curls have a natural pattern all in the same direction, I should use that to my advantage more. When I do my curly after-shower routine, as long as I set my very wet curls w/creme and gel, they're perfect for a brush out on day 2. It's more of a Veronica Lake effect with my long hair, but my layers in front really help bring out the s-wave once brushed. I was hating my loose curly girl method for the sheer amount of time it takes but I realized setting my hair like that still takes less time than pin curls or rollers. So I get a day of fresh curls, and second day is usually brushed out and formed into waves instead of doing a curl refresh with more water or product.
You are brave...i have curly hair and I never comb it out...only with a big tooth comb when i am in the shower. I also try to use a tshirt type fabric...i wrap it up after the shower til I am ready to style (not too long) thanks for the ideas
I’m so jealous! I have 2a/on a great wash day 2b hair But I am transitioning into dressing only vintage and at the same time trying to get my natural curl pattern back Unfortunately for me, because my hair is more of beach waves I have to choose between my natural waves or my vintage look (because without the hair it doesn’t look as put together on me) Good thing is I don’t stick to any specific era, as long as it’s vintage I’ll dress in it So I bounce between 30s-70s So I guess I’ll just have to wear my natural waves when I dress 70s since it’s a less structured style then my usual 30s-50s But I’m happy some of my curl sisters get to rock their natural pattern and still do the vintage hair look :)
I'm trying the cg method and I know it takes a long time for your hair to work out. But I'm getting so frustrated and I miss vintage hair, and im scared of doing a brush out since ive always read brushes and combs are a big no for curly wavy hair. Any tips??
Kassandra Marks I have a newer video showing an updated version! I say get a very flexible bruise like a “wet brush” start from the bottom and mold the curls like you would a wet set! Just don’t use heat it never ends well! If you hair is more wavy you may want to refresh the ends a bit so they curl more
I actually have an updated video on my channel about my vintage brush out with natural curls! And yes! I did this on my wedding day it looks perfect just a tighter look! Like if you set with smaller sections

Lol nope I’m a second weirdo! Lol I recently re made this video to better show how I do the style now!
I love it especially how quick it is to do!
This is AMAZING! I never thought you could do this without straightening your hair.
I'm going to try this one my 3a-3b hair.
Let me know how it goes!!! I have a newer updated video on how to do this?

I agree! I trim my ends once a month when I have damage till it grows out! fresh ends to make this process easier!

ozleminha that’s the nicest compliment ever 🤧😭
How fun! I do this on my long 2b/3a curls. Perfect waves every time. Looks better than if I do a set, which I just did, and now regret. 😅
same! im sure it looks more authentic since many did so in the 1940's

Yes! 70’s and late 60’s is perfect with natural waves! And on the plus side you can do wet sets and they will stick cause the natural texture!
My hair isn't as curly, so im not sure if it will work the same but i think this is the coolest thing!!
You can also do this brush out with a wet set!
Super cute !
Thank you!!!
I Stan ur energy sm
