My mom was in the hospital with a heart condition... they had her on the "heart healthy" diet. It included margerine and Ensure. I could not believe these things were considered heart healthy. She would not eat either.... she called margerine plastic butter.
Yes, I agree with your mom. Ensure is not good for you either. I saw how unhealthy hospital food really is. When my son was in the hospital I asked for more healthy meals for him they didn't have it.
I am a cashier at a grocery store. I cringe when I see people buy all the junk foods, margarine, canola oil, diet soda etc. And people say they eat healthy and they are buying power drinks, yogurt, cereal, orange juice, frozen microwave dinners. Some of these people are overweight, having trouble walking, skin issues to name a few. One lady makes a so-called health smoothie with ice-cream. Another person was told by her Doc to eat potato chips because she was sodium deficient. All this just blows my mind.

In the hospital 2017, stage 4 colon. Still here for so many reasons: prayers, due diligence and being vigilant! Overall I would not be worried about eating lectin-containing foods unless you know you have sensitivities to those foods. Processed food, sugars, and bad oils are way more important to focus on. Many of the foods containing lectins have a lot of health benefits to outweigh the negatives for most people. Lectins can also easily be minimized by fermenting veggies, sprouting nuts, and cooking grains/beans. -LGD Team

THANK GOD FOR DR.LIVINGOOD 🙏🙏🙏
Hello Doc- I have been seeing these energy drinks- CELSIUS- Live Fit, is this any good for our health?
What about V8 100% Vegetable Juice? I just got your book and have watched some of your videos. Learning a lot more than I ever did when the Dr. sent me to a nutrition class for weight loss. Thank you

Could you recommend substitutions for each of these please...

What do you put in the place of organic Greek yogurt
Yogurts are fine, in moderation, after your goals are met. -LGD Team
I buy organic tofu and it’s wonderful for me!
What is the best option instead of Margarine??
We love butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, and butter. Check out the product recommendations on Dr. Livingood's Amazon Market! amazon.pulse.ly/txoum6qbbz - LGD Team
I make my own yogurt and strain it to very thick Greek. No sugar added. Is it not good for my gut? I also make kefir at home for probiotics. Thought they were healthy
Thanks to a friend recommending your book, hubby and I have been cutting out the rancid oils and good foods. He was super surprised that his "regular" raspberries had no flavor compared to the organic! He's slowly becoming a true believer! Thank you for your continued teachings!
Glad you are here with us:) -LGD Team
Thank you for all this wonderful help!!
I am good on 12 of these, but what is your suggestion to replace Cheerios? This multi grain and fruit has been my go to for breakfast most days. What about oatmeals, farina, cream of wheat? Is there clean options? Thanks for all your and your wife do for the rest of us...I worked hospitals for years and have been saying this same thing for decades. It is about prevention not cleaning up after the mess is made.

Thanks for all the wisdom!
thank you! I purchased your book and it's amazing. I wish to have you as my doctor
Thank you Dr Livingood for making health simple for us and also humorous!. I appreciate the humor as it helps to ingest the awful but true information.
How do you achieve 1,000 to 1,200 mg of calcium a day naturally if we're told to avoid yogurt, cheese, milk,... Dairy in general?
Exercise frequently, consume calcium-rich foods, maintain your weight in a healthy range and stay limber and work on your posture. Here is a helpful video: th-cam.com/video/nX1d-c7sZno/w-d-xo.html I'd also recommend our Vitamin D + Immune Complex and Bone Support Supplement! store.drlivingood.com/products/livingood-daily-vitamin-d store.drlivingood.com/products/livingood-daily-bone-support -LGD Team
I had a kidney stone for first time from green smoothies and was told to add calcium in for of dairy or fortified orange juice to pair with every meal to move oxalates from the body. I never ate dairy but now I do!
How about Coconut yogurt?
I make my own yogurt. I use Organic milk and no sugar. There are many videos on making your own.
Anytime you can make your own food using clean ingredients, we definitely encourage doing so! :) - LGD Team
What about so-called "healthy" margarine like Smart Balance? Thanks for all of your helpful info - always enlightening.
👍
My favorite for years: cherrios. Haven’t had it for years but it hit home. Learning a lot. Who would eat tofu. It’s like eating packing material
That’s why got in a habit of juicing my own fruit juice just two ingredients orange and water. I also do this with apples and grapes. I growing my own tomatoes, okra, cilantro, beans , kale kale is easy to grow that a 3 year old can put it in the ground and grow it themselves but kale hates the heat kale loves a lot of water. I’m growing cucumbers. You can eat cucumbers flowers I eat it it is so yummy 🤤 and basil. I have fun growing these.
I LOVE what you are doing!!! Finally a real doctor!!! Thank you!! I try to avoid all of those but do eat yogurt. Mostly homemade but with cow milk still.
Dr what do u think of kombucha??
We like kombucha:) -LGD Team
No mention of the sugar? I drink it nearly daily but only a 6oz serving because it is high in sugar.@@DrLivingood
I actually added Greek yogurt & berries tonmy breakfast because I typically ate steel cut oats for breakfast. But the carbs are high for oatmal so my ldl-p score was on the edge ... kinda running out of ideas except don't eat breakfast... don't really want to eat eggs all the time.
Dr. Livingood has lots of breakfast recipes on his website! 😊 You can check them out here: drlivingood.pulse.ly/a50yhwlubt - LGD Team
We normally use almond or avocado butter. Oil we use olive and avocado blend

Thank you, all wonderful news I have known for a long time, finally someone comes and tells us the truth!!
Great Info Dr.LG, as usual!!!! You really hurt my heart with Nutella😂 and yogurt a little too. Some of these I was aware of. Some shocked me but im taking notes!!😊
Excellent doc. Do you have an advice to keep the kidneys healthy? The doctor is telling my brother that he needs to go to a nefrologist
There are many conditions that can impact kidney health such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Focus on controlling insulin with these challenges. Hydration is super important for kidney health, make sure you are drinking half your weight in ounces of water daily. Research shows that baking soda 1/2 tsp in water AM & PM can help slow the progression of kidney disease. Clean up your protein we recommend 15g for females, 20g for males per meal. You’ll also want to avoid NSAIDs and PPI’s. I’d recommend our Omegas and GI Support instead! bit.ly/4cgNQMk Our Kidney + UT Cleanse or Support can also be beneficial. If you are a lifestyle member, you can also find more info on this in your Members Area under the health A-Z section! Store.drlivingood.com/pages/kidney-disease-renal-artery-stenosis -LGD Team
The only thing that I eat on your list is tofu and it's non GMO so I'm assuming that is OK. I do eat a little bit of dairy in the form of raw goat or sheep cheese.
I eat organic tofu weekly and it should be fine for us!
Store bought almond milk should be on the list. I make my own almond & cashew milk from home.
Thank you for joining us on TH-cam! -LGD Team
Almonds are EXTREMELY high levels of OXALATES that cause serious health problems. Sally K. Norton wrote a book TOXIC SUPERFOODS about oxalates.
I'd add soy milk too, and if I want coconut milk I'll buy a whole coconut and open it to get the coconut milk. If it comes in a box, can or jar I don't trust it to be clean or free of detrimental additives by processing.
@@travelinon7241 Soy milk is a terrible hormone disruptor. Best to avoid all unfermented soy as well as any non-organic fermented soy as almost all soy is GMO. Soy is also high in oxalates that are damaging to many internal systems, not just kidneys.
So, no canola oil. What should I be cooking with? Thank you
Olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil are all great choices -LGD Team
Is Carbquick ok? I am diabetic and have been using it instead of Bisquick.
We would recommend proceeding with caution if using Carbquick as it contains natural flavors. Natural flavors are tricky to know where they are sourced from. Dr. Livingood has pancake mix recommendations on his Amazon Market! You can find it under the "Pantry/Cooking Essentials" section. 😊 amazon.pulse.ly/alugpvfyql - LGD Team
Thanks doctor
What about Izzio brand sourdough bread?
I have looked at food in a different way since listening to you. I have felt better, no more heartburn or pain or headaches and I have lost 15 lbs.
I have migraines about every 2 weeks and they seem to be getting worse. I am 48 and have had a hysterectomy. I was wondering if you could do a class on how to get rid of them and feel better. What I should and shouldn’t be eating.

My son can’t eat dairy, what substitution can you recommend for butter?
You can try ghee! -LGD Team
Thank you Dr. Livingood. That help me to pick my food. I love Nutella and I have once a year but now I’m not going to buy any more.
Wonderful!

I mix cacao powder with a bit of honey and some MCT oil and mix in hazelnuts…way healthier than Nutella and delicious.

I eat tofu quite frequently. Nongmo and made with nigiri instead of all the chemicals. Just read the ingredients. It's what I do.
The kind I buy is organic
@ToriHarris-lb6zg Just because it's organic doesn't mean that it doesn't contain preservatives. The one that I buy is just two ingredients: nongmo soybeans and Nigiri. My sister also has made tofu with these two ingredients.

Thank you 🙏🏾 I was thankful for Beyond Meat 🍖 now I know better, & Cheerios was my favorite thought it was good for the heart ❤️
I’m continuing Beyond Meats, just not as often!
What if you work out daily or everyday? I do two mile runs 5 to 6 times a week. I eat a cup of chobani Greek yogurts mixed with a cup of oatmeal every morning. I mainly eat these two for the proteins to get me ready for my workouts. So far so good for the past 4 months but I just need to know if it's going to affect something internally that I might not be feeling.
It just contains a lot of sugar and there are plenty of better sources of protein to better fuel your body 😊 -LGD Team
What kind of oatmeal?
@@DrLivingood how about plane organic Greek yogurt, no oatmeal that turns into sugar and you have lactose that turns into sugar
So helpful as always! Thank you!
This was so informative..omg tysm.....im going to try to convince my son on some of the things you said....and ive always known margarine has been good for you....ty for everything.....hugs always from Virginia
What about the non-fat plain Greek yogurt? I use it instead of sour creams in recipes that call for sour cream.
Also... I have my own dairy goats. What about when I make my own yogurts?
Goat Milk Yogurt is great! -LGD Team
On yogurt, what about nut milk yogurts? Mine shows no sugar and no sugar added.
We recommend avoiding yogurt until your personal goals are met. -LGD Team
Do you have a list of replacements for these? I need to make a new list 🤣
I already avoid most things listed here. The only real exception for me is grapefruit juice, because I really do like it. I might have a few gatorades over the summer when it gets hot out, but not many. And I might have a couple granola bars a year because they are OK on occasion.
Thank you so much for all this healthy advise

If one has gut issues, is lectin (I believe nut butters) something to stay away from? Thank you!
-LGD Team
@@DrLivingood thank you! Just found you on social media, got your free book, and look forward to becoming my own doctor as all I've been given is meds, taken off the meds cuz long term isn't good, but then that's it.
