Hey do have this lesson has a stand alone buy option, I'm working on a lot of things I'd really love to add this and several of your other lesson to my studies
I leave my guitar dusty and rusty for over three years, because my hand is broken by motorcycle accident. Until i found your channel...Dang! Your channel make my guitar sing again. Thank you for bring back my spirit again. Thank you Robbie. I subscribe.
His material has helped me more than anyone else’s. Sure I learned basics from various people but his lessons bring everything together in a way I can understand. He’s a gangster fo sho
Since I've gotten this phone I'm constantly amazed at what's available for one to learn with it. I taught myself to play by ear in the 60's. So while I understand the concept your explaining, I will need to listen to this A LOT. But, I had loads of fun watching and listening to you. Once I even had to laugh in enjoyment! Thanks, you're doing great and inspiring work.
Just when your senses are numb from getting the s.o.s.o. you come along and shows what patience and dedication to the arts and how unending mastering the guitar is. Guitar is the sweetest sound instrument in the earth...lol
can someone be too good? astonishing playing and your ability to organize and express your ideas so cogently is equally amazing. and yeah-love your production quality.
Breathtaking beauty from the first notes. Man, I would love to hear you in a band or orchestral setting with you as the composer and arranger. I know you would be magical because you are a great virtuoso.
Yep, Ive looked into country style, sounds like mashed potatoes, they give you licks and solos but this shows you exactly whats going on so you can incorporate it and use it anywhere, good stuff.
Robbie, your videos are stunning! The ideas, the content, the production...amazing! And you are presenting new ideas, not recycling old ones. I really hope you get the following that you deserve. I'm confident that you will.
I love people who apply guitar mechanics like the open strings or tapping to jazz guitar, it's super rare (except for Pat Metheny and some others!). Now, throw a capo into the mix and you'll get tons of open string & harmonics possibilities! Flamenco guitarists do it all the time. I'm using a capo on the 3rd fret to play Resignation by Brad Mehldau.
I’ve been working on that idea since 2007, but I’m weak on the Musical theory. But you opened up the door for a lot of ideas for me. Thanks so very much Robbie.
You are a brilliant player and a fantastic teacher. You’re knowledgeable in spades, and your application of harmony is breath taking, so much, that your technique is an answer, that harmony is the question. That’s not even mentioning, the creativity and excellence of the videos. Bravo!!!
You really understood how to make a great looking b roll, turn it into an intro and getting into the great tutorial... I’m glad I was there from the start!
F minor pentatonic (F, Ab, Bb, C, and Eb) with the notes A, D, G and B added will give you a F Dorian Bebop scale. Although it's tricky with cascading runs, essentially any open string pull-off/hammer-on lick that you would do in the key of G will work in the key of F too. Thanks Robbie, love your material!
Brilliant. While just beginning to explore what you've presented I noticed right away, as you say, the clusters brings out sounds the guitar is so perfectly suited for -- almost like a sustain peddle on a piano. Also, by sheer accident I noticed open strings can be passing tones and other non-harmonic tensions. Great guitar-concept lesson. Ted Greene would have been impressed. Thank you for sharing this.
I just saw Isaiah Sharkey the other day say he tries to learn how to do all the things a piano player does so his vocabulary is prepared for call and response. Can’t let a scale ring like on the piano, but wait we have these open strings... He played a scale with open strings and I thought man that’s great but a ton of work to figure out every scale you can do that with. Robbie with the hold my beer and the win.
If I just keep watching this guys videos often enough sooner or later I might be able to figure out what he's talking about and absorb and perhaps apply some of this stuff one day .... 😝
Good grief- so much work is put in to every single one of your vids. I hope you are being compensated somewhere for all this effort- this is a very high bar for production, content, and technical ability. Well done.
This name for this approach, at least in my sphere, is campanella fingering. Campanella meaning "bell", referring to the way bells all ring over each other creating little tone clusters. I'm pretty sure it's a technique that originated in Baroque lute music, and it's something that classical guitarists have adopted for playing fast scale passages in the music of Bach and other Baroque composers. I've used it tons of times in that context. Applying it in a modern context is a great idea, and it's definitely worth practicing. There's also a seven-string instrument that originated in Russia around the time the six-string guitar came about in the rest of Europe. Interestingly, it's still just called the guitar, but it's tuned mostly in 3rds. As a result, there are TONS of possibilities for these kinds of fingerings.
As always thumbs up for another chellanging new approach! Really an enrichment in your musical vocabulary. I really need ot try it out! Thank you Robbie!
Thanks for your innovative approach! I've discovered the beauty of this open string concept quite a time ago. And it's powerful and applicable unless in the key of Db! However, it's seems to take another lifetime for me to really implement it into improvisation over chord progressions...
Its very interesting! I had the same idea, putting a capo on the 1st fret. The whole world of the b keys open up for me... B flat major, F, A flat ... as many tunes in Jazz are written in these keys, now I can aplly open string sounds on jazz standards. Cool video!!
That’s the first thing I noticed! Now, have you any children lying about? Your channel gives me the same feeling as when I bought, The Advancing Guitarist. Overwhelmed... but hopeful. Bravo!
Tried to message you directly but couldn't find a way, would love you to make a video on country picking and ideas, I really admire and a lot of lessons that you have put up.thanks 🙂🙏
You have been so excellent in your approach. Please let us know some scaling practices that right from the beginners level to the advanced level. Thanking you. God bless you.
Thanks a lot, great to hear you're enjoying the vids! I'll definitely put together some stuff on scale practice. I've got some cool things to share for that!
For me this idea originates from country music. Gives a pedal steel vibe. Bill Frisel uses it quite well :) Great job on the videos, I’m an ex-pro guitarist (although I’ve never been half as good as you!) and it just encouraged me to do scales for the first time in so long! Loving the vids. …and now that I finished writing the comment I can hear you describe how these scales link to country music, so this comment is now pointless. Anyway, very impressive stuff❤️
I came across that a while back. I found the 3 compatible key centers. Realized there was a melodic minor option. I checked alot of other scale options. Bebop scales 8 tone spanish are other options. You took the concept way further than I imagined and then some. Well done man!

All your work is great. Thank you. May merely request a deep dive into symmetrical diminished. Thanks.
Had to play some of this at half speed and got an added bonus of you sounding like Mick Jagger!
You are amazing 🤩

Nice one, mate! Have been working myself on these open strings for a while, nice that you decided to share it too! Reinier Baas does a lot of that.
So good!
Wow very nice concept, thx for sharing, ill try and utilize it in my music.
You are a beast player.
